12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

I am glad we are not the only ones who have "missed" the pool. :) it never fails all 3 kids want to do something different and we always seem to have one with us at all times. (even at night too.)

Our kids havent done the kids club at CC the past 2 cruises either. The weather and water have been too perfect to leave the beach. on our cruise in Sept we stayed on CC til 3:30..we were leaving at 4. It was great, the water was near empty and the walk back to the ship was calm and there wasnt a huge line to get back on the ship. We even had early dining and made it in plenty of time. :thumbsup2
having 2 stops at CC was awesome too.

I didn't go to the spa my first trip -- maybe I'll indulge myself a little more this trip.

More relaxing by the Quiet Cove or deck 4 seems to be in order.

Dont laugh, I havent even seen the spa!! :lmao: Maybe someday for us too.

lil John went to school today ( he has been home the past 3 days) so I am doing the happy dance right now. :cool1:

We did Palo dinner the past cruise, but not brunch. Dh wants brunch this time around (I might book the Reas package since we will "technically" have our own room, since we booked 2 cabins. ) -- I want the robe!!

Hi everyone - Just want to let you all know that I have been in Idaho since Tuesday and have been busy with various things so this is my first time online since arriving.

Check out this story on San Diego negotiating with DCL to have one of their new ships based there. Yaaay! My former (and best) hometown! I hope they get it . . and that the other new one ends up in Port Canaveral. :thumbsup2

I thought both the new ships were to be in PC and the Magic and Wonder were to go elsewhere?
It was suggested/assumed, but no - Nothing is definite yet. They are making modifications so the ships are able to use Port Canaveral, but it would really only make sense to base one of the new ships there. My guess is they would use a new/larger ship for longer cruises and the Magic or Wonder for shorter ones. It's anybody's guess at this point. There are so many negotiations going on, and the economy constantly changing. If I ran DCL (ha-ha), I would base the new ships on the east coast and west coast (Port Canaveral and San Diego) as well as one of the older ships at each of those ports. I would also use only the new ships for any transatlantic sailings.

In any case, even the first new ship won't be for at least 2 years, so I imagine there will be a lot of changes in announcements between now and then. ;)

Hope you are having in Idaho Shari!! :)

I know a while back DCL applied to Alaska for docking rights.. so it would make sense a new ship would go to the West Coast. With Disney.. they just like to keep us guessing!! ;)

Sorry I dropped off the planet as well my new job is keeping me busy busy, and I can officially say I hate it and already am looking for a replacement. As soon as I find one I am leaving it is the worst employer ever! I haven't been there 3 weeks and already had to file a complaint for harassment against a Manager! I'd quit but I want the money.

Anywho... I think having a ship in San Diego would be fun but being so close to PC I'd have to love the itinerary out there to fly across the country. But I know those who are close to the west coast will love having a ship there!

Sorry to hear the bad news about your new job. Who is your employer there?

As for DCL - I am biased towards San Diego as my "hometown" and of course Port Canaveral because it's less than an hour from where I live now. I'm sure that no matter how the economy is faring, Disney figures that if there is money anywhere it should make its way to California and Florida either through tourism or the number of well-to-do residents. Alaska also has to be on their mind at least seasonally, and it's another "money state." That's how Disney works - LOL. But until they give official, final word, all we know for certain is that at least one of the new ships will be at Port Canaveral. That is a given from what they have officially stated . . unless things change of course. :)

I work at the airport for a private company that does a Registered Traveler Program.
Clear? If that's the one, I'm especially sorry as it probably would have been a good job. In any case, unfortunately you never know with any company as they can always end up with a period of bad management. That has certainly happened around WDW at a few restaurants and attractions. Makes you wonder how some people end up becoming managers when they shouldn't be in those positions. I hope you find a better job soon where the working conditions will be more pleasant for you.

I hope everyone is starting a great weekend. Since arriving here Tuesday, my DH has taken me out to dinner twice (seafood) and to the Idaho Sportsmen's Show last night. He likes the hunting and fishing and wildlife organizations. I like the latter plus wildlife art and crafts and the boats. It was 27 degrees. Cool, but I always enjoy not sweating! :goodvibes

The reason I'm thinking that because of this announcement when Disney extended their agreement with the port authority:

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla., (March 19, 2008) – Disney Cruise Line announced it has finalized an agreement with Port Canaveral to extend the company’s current contract 15 years through 2022. In addition, as part of its continuing commitment to the Central Florida area, the company will home port its two new ships in Port Canaveral. The new agreement between Disney Cruise Line and Port Canaveral was ratified today by Port Authority Commissioners.

Full Announcement.

Yes, but that was a year ago and they have apparently contemplated many directions since then, especially in light of the changing economy. It's still possible, yes, but with other bids and negotiations in the works and the opportunity to make DCL more appealing to a wider audience (Wouldn't you rather sail on a new ship if available instead of an older, smaller ship?), the signs point to them re-thinking the basing of both ships in Port Canaveral.

I'm not saying it can't happen (and I sure wouldn't complain if it did!), but my view is that it would make more sense not to base the two new ships in one port. The most recent announcements state the capability of Port Canaveral (and DCL's "new" terminal) to handle both ships, but the time, money and effort other locations (supposedly under consideration by DCL) are putting into vying for one of the new ships must mean something as well. :)

Only time will tell, and there is still quite a wait ahead . . .

Sounds to me like that would violate the agreement...but they have ways of paying that stuff off.
True. Then again, perhaps the only thing written in stone was "Disney Cruise Line announced it has finalized an agreement with Port Canaveral to extend the company’s current contract 15 years through 2022." Any other part of the agreement would have to be alterable, because DCL would surely not commit to keeping both new ships based in one port despite economic and other unforseeable circumstances.

If they do, GREAT. If not, I personally hope San Diego will win its bid for the other new ship. But I'm going to take all announcements or news articles as not necessarily concrete until at least within a year of each ship's arrival date. Right now they seem to be having trouble filling many of their sailings without deep discounts, and a lot of people do seem to be cancelling, for whatever reason. This Cruisin' Nuts cruise is one I will do no matter what! :)

Right now...I'm considering it moot. If it causes DCL prices to drop, I'll be an even happier addicted camper!

I even got a camcorder on woot the other day just for this. I'm praying that nothing comes up that makes me have to cancel this -- but it will have to take a lot!

Now, back to positive vibes--in case this discussion was downing anyone...

Ha-ha - - My thoughts about the discussion exactly! ;)

That's great about the camcorder! I have not used a camcorder since the days of VHS-C, and I never used that much. My two most recent still digital cameras can do brief videos, and my laptop has a built-in webcam, but I've been steering clear for fear of incompetence with it - LOL. Have to admit that I am seriously looking at a couple of the HD video digicams designed for uploading to the web though. I could use it for a lot of my websites . . as well as WDW and cruises. Just need to decide which one! ::MinnieMo

Taswira- I have to say you gave me a chuckle. Going from Florida to Idaho to have seafood?? LOL :lmao: Too cute!

Also FYI we have the JVC Everio HD camera and we really like it. It's the one my son used for his video in Africa. If is easy to use and once DH figured it our it is easy to download too.

Hope everyone has a great week. :rotfl: Just think we get closer by the hour!
