12/04/08 3 night on the wonder: My Wedding Cruise!

I just found out that I'm taking an early retirement in July :cool1:
Since we have more free time now, we switched from this 3 day cruise to the 4 day Wonder cruise on 12/7 instead. Hope you all have a great sailing.:thumbsup2

Is November 30 your first day? I thought that my date for ADR's was 6/3 but maybe it's 6/2. :cool1: Can't wait!!!

Hi! I am SO sorry it took so long for me to reply to this post! I've been SWAMPED at work and at home! Anyway, My first day is November 29th. So, now that we're past 6/2 and 6/3, just wondering if you were able to get the ADR's you wanted? We only had two ADR's to make and we wanted them the first and second days we are there, but we got them the second and third days we are there. No biggie...at least we still got them! :thumbsup2

LuckyMomoftwo Yes, Off Topic...but, I noticed in 07 you stayed at SSR. I'm headed to The World in July and using my sister in law's to stay there. I'm interested in any resort tips you might have. I believe we're in a studio..I'm VERY budget minded..so, I'm trying to plan out microwave meals or anything else that is good for hotel room "camping". When I booked I was only planning on a week at SSR no parks (I don't think it will be in the budget) I'm not sure if I'm hoping for some "pixie dust" to change that...seeing as with 4 (15, 12, and 9yr twins..one of which really doesn't want to go park hopping) kids (and a husband that won't come)...July heat...lines..and out numbered by kids?? Anyway, I've been trying to get as much info on SSR as possible...Anything you can tell me..would be greatly appreaciated!

Thanks!:goodvibes

We've only stayed there the one time and we loved it. When you check in, make sure the first thing you do is check out the activities that are going on at the resort. They have movies by the pool on certain nights, that's pretty cool!! We stayed in the Grandstand area and it was really nice and quiet there. While it's a lengthy drive from there to the check in desk, it's a short walk on the trail back to the check in desk. We were in a studio and it was plenty of room for me and DH, but I don't know about five people in that room...but if that's the room you're getting I'm sure you'll make it work. I believe all the studio rooms there have a king size bed and a pull out sofa sleeper. It's got a couple of cabinets to keep groceries in, the fridge is a nice sized mini fridge and there's a small microwave. PM me if you have any other questions. I can't think of anything else right now. I hope you figure out a way to fit some park tix into your budget. But, it's still a magical feeling just to stay on property even without going into the parks! :cutie:

:hyper: I was bouncing with excitement when we got our passports!!! Don't worry...those 172 days will go by faster than you know!! ::yes::

So... I need some honeymoon help from those of you that have been to Disneyland. We're starting our honeymoon with 5 days/4nights at the Disneyland Hotel and need suggestions for things to see/do. Also, how's the hotel? We got a great rate on both the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier, so we went with Disneyland Hotel after seeing pictures. After those 4 nights we'll be headed to the Mayan Riviera (Puerto Morales, Mexico) for 2 weeks.

imayoyo - I haven't been to DL since the early 80's, so I can't be of any help there. Sorry! :( I thought I might mention that if you post your request for suggestions on the Disneyland forum...you might get tons of answers there.

Now, for my question to you...so you're getting married on DCL and then going to DisneyLand and then going to the Mayan Riviera? My goodness, that sounds like an awesome honeymoon!!! So, you decided against Italy, huh?

We're trying to talk my sister and her boyfriend into getting married on a cruise...we've been unsuccessful so far. He hasn't popped the question yet but they've talked about it so they're not getting married until at least 2010, so we still have some time to work on it! ::yes::

Yep. We kind of finagled a free trip to Italy. My family is going their next summer, so we invited ourselves and my mother and her husband were cool with it. Worked out well! Good luck working on it! If you need the number let me know. Cathy is awesome! And I'm fortunate that my office is on the same floor as her, so I can stop by when I have questions.

WOW! So Italy will be for your 1st anniversary!! :) Lucky you! I wish I had family that took vacations like that. We're really the only ones in our family that travels...nobody else in my family really ever goes on vacation. :confused3 Too bad for them!! :lmao: I'll keep you posted on my progress in getting my sister and future brother in law to get married on a cruise ship. IF they do, I don't think it will be on Disney...we've been trying to get them to come with us on this one coming up in December and they say it's too much. If I could just get them on the ship once...I KNOW I'd have them hooked! :rotfl2:

Hello! I just booked our first Cruise on the Wonder for 12/4-7. We are actually arriving in WDW on 11/28 and staying at the Dolphin before settling in at the BCV. I am looking forward to this! We have 2 sons, who will be 4 and 22 months at the time we sail!!:goodvibes
Not sure if we can swing the Fish Extender on our 1st cruise, but it's nice to "know" so many people on board the ship!

Hello everyone,

This happens to be my first post to a DIS forum. But, you all seem like a friendly bunch, so I figured I'd dive right in.

We are a family of three with a 4 year old DD (by cruise time) She hasn't gotten too excited about this trip because she is still busy planning her own Disney Princess birthday party that is fast approaching.

The original purpose of this trip was to attend the Old Spice Classic basketball tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports featuring our alma mater Georgetown Univeristy along with the University of Maryland, Gonzaga, among 5 other teams. This tournamnet runs 11/27-11/30. Any other college basketball fans out there? Hoya fans perhaps?

Any how we decided to splurge and make a real vacation out of it so we are staying at Port Orleans-FQ, going on the cruise, and doing the parks in between the end of the tournament and the cruise. Relaxing? No. But we don't do Disney to relax.

Imayoyo, congratulations on your engagement and exciting wedding plans.

Oh, did I mention this is our first cruise ever. I'm hoping to convince dw to do longer ones in the future.

Hope everyone enjoys the cruise.

Welcome!! I paid off the balance on our cruise today!! :cool1: You'll have a "Wonder"ful time!! Any questions....this is the place to ask...and get answers!!

Hi MickeyFanIncognito! We'll be at POFQ from 11/30 to 12/4 then on to the ship with you also! cool - I hope we can do a meet or something. It's just me (32) my mom (52) and my 3 1/2 year old DD.

I'm so excited I can't stand it! What are your plans like?

We're doing DTd when we arrive on Sunday (we live in Birmingham, AL so we'll just drive down) then AK on Monday, MK on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a night trip to Epcot thrown in for the CP package ( I got dinner at Le Cellier - whoo-hoo!!!) and then BBB and CRT Thursday morning before heading to the ship! Whew!

HOw about you and everyone else????
