12/04/08 3 night on the wonder: My Wedding Cruise!

Hi all -

Haven't checked in in a while, but I just noticed that there seem to be several families travelling with 4 yo sons, us included. I'm going to try to be more of a regular poster from here on out....the anticipation of this trip is killing me. Here's where we're at in our planning: Nov 28 we leave on the Autotrain, arriving in FL the morning of the 29th. We will visit Kennedy Space Center on the 29th, and then check into some hotel that evening (haven't booked it yet!) 11/30 we will check into the Poly, our home until the cruise. My parents/sister have never stayed in a deluxe so they are extremely excited, to say the least! Only DH and myself have been on a Disney cruise, so 4 out of our party of 6 are in for a huge treat. :cool1:

2002Disneybride - :welcome: Let me know if you change your mind about the Fish Extender and I'll add you to the list. I can also add you to the DISmeet list if your up for a DIS meet.

MickeyFanIncognito - :welcome: I think the cruise itself will convince your DH to do a longer cruise in the future! Let me know if you're planning on joining in on the Fish Extender Exchange and/or a DISmeet. Happy Birthday to your daughter...I hope she has a wonderful Disney Princess Party! Sorry...I'm not much of a college basketball fan.

JWeigant - :welcome: We're planning a DISmeet for possibly both WDW AND while onboard DCL. Let me know if you're interested in that AND the Fish Extender Exchange. We only have ADR's for 11/30 for Fantasmic dinner package and 12/1 for a character breakfast at Crystal Palace. Other than that, we'll just do counter service meals.

lynetteSC - :welcome: Your DS will be just fine. The CM's onboard do an excellent job of watching for "runaway" kids. I had a HUGE scare during our last DCL cruise. My DD (3 at the time) decided to take off a separate way from me and DS (7 at the time). DH was still in the room sleeping. I told DS to stay put at the table at Topsiders and I FRANTICALLY went searching for DD. Found a CM to help me. Turns out DD was escorted by a CM to the kids club because they knew Mom or Dad would be trying to find her and that's the most logical place to take the lost kids. We stay away from the veranda rooms so that we don't have to worry about the kids climbing out there!
Let me know if you want to join in on the DISmeets and/or the Fish Extender Exchange.

Hi Luckymomoftwo.....

I am definitely interested in the meets both at WDW and on the ship. Let me know when everyone has planned them and we'll make it. Our schedule is tighter when we're on land, but I have purposely made no plans for the cruise portion....I'll need the rest! HA!

Also, I am interested in the Fish Xtender exchange - what do I need to do exactly??

Thanks bunches! I'm so excited I can hardly wait...

Does anyone have any preliminary suggestions for our WDW DisMeet date, place, or time? I'm sure it will be impossible to accomodate ALL, but if we schedule it early enough, perhaps it will give some of us a chance to "plan accordingly"?

I don't think anyone has suggested a date/place/time yet. I have two ADR's...one is for 11/30 for dinner, the other is for 12/1 for late breakfast. I know on either 12/1, 12/2, or 12/3, I will be trying to book an Illuminations Cruise. We have no plans as far as what parks we will be doing on what days EXCEPT we are going to Universal Studio's on 12/2 or 12/3 (depending on when I get the Illuminations Cruise).

So, basically any day during the daytime, is fine with me except for 12/1 between 10:30 and 12:00. I'll be there from 11/29 to 12/3

I've never organized a DISmeet before, so I'm not sure how they actually get planned. Do we just sort of choose a few days/times and have everyone vote on which one works best for them? Here are my suggestions:

11/29 - anywhere/anytime
11/30 - anytime before 3:00 - preferrably at HS
12/1 - afternoon - preferrably at MK
12/2 - anywhere/anytime (could change depending on my Illuminations Cruise)
12/3 - anywhere/anytime (could change depending on my Illuminations Cruise)

Also, I don't know how many of you are planning on arriving by 10:30 at the Cruise Terminal, but I thought anyone who was could meet up there at the terminal and get to know each other before we board the ship.

Well, here I've gone again and made another huge post! So, I better end this before it turns into a short novel. :rotfl:

Well, we just decided to upgrade our room so we'll now be in a CAT 3. First time in a cat 3 so I'm excited to check it out! Wedding plans are coming along just fine, and we've booked our honeymoon rooms. We're staying 5 nights at the DL Hotel in an upperlevel theme-park view concierge room and then staying 10 nights at the Grand Palladium in Puerto Aventuras, MX.

We're hoping to get the private room at PALO on the first night so I sent my request to the Special Requests fax with all the required info and we'll see how it goes! My friend Adlin works there, so I'm going to give her a call on Monday and see what she thinks. The only problem is that the typical minimum to book the room is 12 and we only have 10 (bridal party). We'll see.

I'm sure you could find two extra tag alongs to go with you to Palo! :lmao:
Seriously, though, maybe if you offer to pay the extra for the two people you'll be short, maybe they'd consider your request. :confused3

I'm glad all of your planning is coming along good. My sister just got married and she was stressed to the max...they invited 400 guests! :scared1: I think she ended up with about 300 that actually made it to the reception. She is glad she got her big day, but she almost wishes she had just gone to Vegas or did something more simple. It was beautiful, so she did good!!

Hi Everyone, just checking in to add that there are only 132 more days 'til our cruise. ;)

   12/4 will be here before we know it!

Hello JWeigant and all other DCL meet folks,

Our plans early on in the vacation are a bit skewed because we are planning around the Old Spice Classic and whatever sessions Georgetown happens to be in. We are arriving on the Nov. 27th (Thanksgiving) and heading straight to the tournament. We wanted a sort of traditional Thanksgiving dinner but finally decided on Whispering Canyon Cafe because it seems like a place that an overly tired DD4 would be able to "be a kid' after a lond day of traveling and basketball watching.

The rest of our ADRs:
Cinderella's Castle
Momma Melrose
Boma
Narcoossee's

No need to convince me...I'm the DH, it's the DW that is skeptical. I'm sure she will have a good time. My DD4's Princess birthday party was fun. She had a good time and looked the part in her Belle dress.

We'll be participating in the Fish Extender Exchange, as far as a DISmeet, probably on the ship or just prior to boarding (I think we'll arrive at the port around 10:30).

I have a question for everyone. What is your opinion of Nassau? I thought I saw an earlier post that suggested skipping Nassau on a 3-night cruise since there is so much to do on the ship and there are no "days at sea." However, I figure that there must be some Caribbean culture to experience, or is it just a tourist trap? Thanks.

OOPS! Sorry...didn't mean to confuse a DH with a DW. :lmao: I'm glad to hear DD4's Princess birthday party was a success.

My opinion of Nassau...tourist trap. HOWEVER, I haven't been there since 2001, so a lot could have possibly changed in 7 years!

Hi everyone!! Only 115 days to go! :cool1: I went out the other day and bought my DDs new flip flops, water shoes and underwater cameras for trip. Figured I better get them now before I can't find them anywhere. We also decided to go to Discovery Cove while we're on "land" instead of trying to do the Dolphin excursion in Nassau. I'm not sure if we're even going to get off the ship in Nassau...guess we'll see.

How's everyone's planning going??

I just returned from a week at The World on Sunday...so, one Disney trip down...the focus is full steam ahead on Disney trip #2! :cool1: I can't imagine I need to buy much to prepare...I say that and the next thing I know I'll have a whole new wardrobe for all of us!! Better stay out of the Disney Store and away from any end of the season sales!!! :thumbsup2 Focus on creating "Wonder"ful surprises for fellow cruisers and my kids!:lovestruc

We purchased our tickets for the Old Spice Classic college basketball tournament...So, our WDW vacation facade is legit now. :lmao: Figuring that there is no way our DD4 would sit through all 12 baskteball games of the tournament, especially knowing that Mickey and all the Disney Princess are just around the corner, we opted to only purchase tickets for the sessions which Georgetown will be in. So, three sessions (up to 6 games). The nice thing about this tournament is that it is on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. That means Saturday we are going to MK and will do the Princess Lunch at Cinderella's Castle.

Hi Guys,

I don't know why I have never seen this thread before. Thought I would just say Hi to all of you:wave:
My DH & I will be sailing with you all. This will be our 2nd DCL, we had a great time last year. Really looking forward to seeing all the Christmas Decorations on the ship.
DH booked the REAS package for us:)
I have just booked Palo dinner for myself and DH for the 5th Dec:banana::banana:
Woo Hoo 104 days till we are sailing:banana::banana:

I haven't been on here in a while--looks like there are a lot of 4 yo's! DS will be thrilled-he loves meeting new kids!

My DS4 also loves meeting new kids, anywhere...anytime. It seems like everytime we go out I hear the refrain "Mommy, can I go meet that kid?" :rotfl2: Where in NJ are you? We live near Sandy Hook.

We're 90 days and counting!!:cool1: I stayed up until 12:00 last night to book once it was officially Sept 5th! It's exciting to one minute not be able to book and then refresh and find YES you can!!!:cheer2: Well, truth be told it wasn't that easy... When I refreshed my page at 12:00 I got new wording saying I had to finish paying my balance!!!:scared1:  Which was NOT true...I decided to log out and log back in..and that seemed to be the trick...I was back in..and able to book :worship: PALO!! I got the night and time I wanted. :cool1: Then off to bed to dream about Lemoncello martinis and chocolate shouffles!! Anyone else do any booking today???:)

vllygrl-we are right near Toms River! Small world! Isn't it funny how kids get along so well at this age in an instant? We went to the beach the other day and in about 5 min of setting my chair down, my son was playing with three little kids! Gotta love it. I am sure these two will cross paths on the ship!
