12/04/08 3 night on the wonder: My Wedding Cruise!

Hi gang,

We are very excited about our time at Disneyworld Nov 30th - Dec 3 and the Dec 4th cruise on the Wonder.

Our 13 year old daughter (Alex) will be with us. We considered taking her friend but it didn't work out. So, she is hoping she will be able to make some new friends on the cruise. If any of you have kids around that age we'd love to know. Alex would be interested in meeting them online in this forum before we get there. She is very excited about the teen loft area. She is pretty outgoing, is into dance, drama, alpine skiing etc...

Thanks

Hello Islandfamily!

I've got a 13 year old daughter! We're excited about our trip..I'll be traveling with my 9 yr old twins too...I think I have a friend coming too with her 14 yr old DD and younger boys..so far they haven't booked but, promise they will....My 13 yr old is excited about The Loft etc. Look forward to Dec.

Thats great Aiken4Mickey,

Our 9 year old daughter will be coming too so it's great to hear you have 9 year old twins. Our 13 year old will be glad to know there will be another girl on the cruise her age. If you think your daughter would like to meet ours online ahead of time let us know. They could chat on this forum or by email etc....

There is also talk of a get together at Disney and on the ship for people in this forum. "Luckymomoftwo" is keeping a list of who is interested...I think.

Hey...That's great you have a 9 yr old DD too! If my friend ends up joining me...her 2 DS and my DS will I'm sure hit it off...and my DD (9) always seems to be the odd one out..so, it would be nice for her to have someone to pair up with or look forward to meeting. Is this your family's first Disney Cruise? I don't mind my 13 yr old to use this forum as a way to communicate.

I did see that a get together was in the works...I'm not sure what we'll do.

We're very excited about our 7th Disney Cruise!!:cool1: My 13 yr old..the twins don't know yet..

Hi Aiken4Mickey,

Thats great. My 13 year old daughter will be glad to hear there is another girl she might get to meet. And our 9 year old daughter is often the odd one out too so she will be excited. It would be great if we could keep in touch and maybe make plans for them to meet either at WDW and/or on the cruise.

Yes, there is some planning going on for a get together. We were one of the first families on board for that. Not sure how its going. I will message Luckymomoftwo to see if there are any updates.

This is our first cruise but we've been to WDW many times. Are you all staying at Disney before the cruise. We are staying at the Poly.

Sounds good to keep in touch and try to arrange a meeting for the girls. The last couple of cruises we've done..we've stayed at The Pop Century the night before..arriving after 8. I take the kids out of school after 11 (so, they credit for a full day)...so, meeting at port or on the ship would work better..I hope the Fall rates come out the first of Oct..they usually do and the prices for the hotel room go down...if that doesn't happen..I'll have to make a decision about where to stay...a hotel on the way or drive to Disney??! I vote for Disney..but, it is an extra 1 hr...worth it! But, with the cost of things now...I might have to think practical..and since we just did WDW??

I think we are joining in the FE! I haven't done that before..but, a couple of cruises ago we have 26 people a bout 9 staterooms and I had surprises each day for all!! And, then last cruise..when it was just me and the kids...I brought along "loot" to randomly pass out! So, I don't know why I hesitated at all on the FE!!???

Are your children dressing up like pirates?? Princess? I am about to run out to $ Tree I noticed yesterday they had glow wands and swords! Perfect to Pirate Night! I'm also about to send some of my children's on the cruise with a friend...I was just responding to her email...they leave in the next couple of weeks..and she has a 3 yr old daughter..and I have clothes and goodies for her...so, I'm going to "sea" what I can gather up for her...and then off to purchase wands etc...I feel like I should be in DCL "pixie dust" business....:cool1:

You think right! ;) I am keeping a list of who is interested. I'm going to put a list on here as soon as I have access to the spreadsheet I am keeping. It's saved to my computer at work and I'm not at work today. My list is going to be the screen names of who is joining in on the Fish Extender Exchange and/or any DISmeets/get togethers.

I'm taking advantage of my extra day off to get some small projects done around the house...so I'm gonna go get back to doing that! :thumbsup2

I forgot to add some of my thoughts to the last post...
So far, I'm thinking maybe the best time for a get together would maybe be at the terminal while we're all "patiently" waiting to board that beautiful ship! But I don't know where exactly we should meet. Isn't there an outside area to get to from the terminal? Maybe we could meet there. OR...I could make a big sign out to hold up that says "DIS board get together right here" and then everyone can look for that. :confused3 Any suggestions from anyone else? Then, we could discuss if and when we want to meet again while onboard. I think some of us were thinking of getting together on Nassau day.

I'd also like to meet with anyone that is going to WDW prior to the cruise, but that might be a little more difficult to do. We're playing most of our vacation by ear, my brother in law and sister in law are going with us and they don't want their whole trip planned out. I can't blame them, it is their first family trip to WDW. But, at the same time, in order to do certain things, you HAVE to plan them in advance...any Disney Veteran knows that! :lmao:

Ok, well, back to my work now! Honestly...I'm leaving this computer and I won't let the DISboards interrupt me again! :rotfl2:

Good luck on getting back to work! It's hard to pull yourself away from the boards!! Personally speaking!

Please..add us to the FE! Do you need any other info from us? We don't know our cabin....I'm sure we'll "sea" it posted online in Nov. Any guidelines for the FE? I've seen groups do things from their homestate...and do we just deliver whenever we want?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that as far as the FE's go you just drop goodies as you please but somebody else might know more.

As for a time/place to meet Luckymom, I think you have a good idea. At the terminal would be great. The sign would be a good idea. Kind of like when you get to an airport and people are there holding up signs with names on them. Except in our case it could say DIS Boards Meet or something like that.

We are going to be traveling in on the Disney Express. I called and found out that we leave from WDW at 11am so we'll be at the terminal around noon. I assume anyone else staying at WDW will be on that schedule too.

I think for CC day we are going to rent bikes and let DS go to Scuttles Cove for a bit...as far as Nassau, I am not sure if we will be doing anything yet.
I have two little guys, so I am not sure with our first time cruising---scheduling too much...

I did bike rental on Castaway Cay, but nothing else...I didn't do anything for Nassau--we were going to stay on the ship...anyone else have a suggestion? DS's are 4 and 1...

Hi Luckymom!
How's the spreadsheet coming along? I'm just curious as to how many people (approximately) we'll have participating in the FE gift exchange. I know we still have 2 monthes ahead of us, but I'd kind of like to get started on my gifts.

65 Days to go!

I got an email last week with the list ..there were about 11 staterooms on the list so far...your screenname was on it...I'm sure you'll hear something soon..but, that's the quick answer to your question...I'm already starting to get my goodies lined up!

Hey everyone! I think I emailed the list to everyone. LJD2143 - I PM'd you about the list. If I missed anyone else, please PM me or just post on here.

We have a pretty good sized list going right now.
