11 night trip or two 5 night trips?

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to be asking this question, if not, please move to the correct one ...

But, we presently have reservations at the Poly for 7/2-7/5 and then a 2 bedroom at BCV from 7/5-7/13 at the comeback rate. We are looking forward to our stay there.

My concern is that it may be too many nights at one time. Our last few summer visits have been (10-13) nights and last year's trip seemed to be a little too long. I don't want to say that the kids get "bored", but everyone looks forward to sleeping in their own beds by the time we're going home.

My second option is to stay 5 nights at the Poly in June (for my 40th birthday) and then return in July for 5 nights at BCV. We travel from the Philly area and would drive south and take the AutoTrain home.

I guess I'm just wondering what others thought about two shorter trips versus one long trip.

Thanks!

If it were me, I'd take the two shorter trips and only because when I get home from my trips I'm so depressed :( to be home.(my family swears I have a sickness) This way you'd have another trip to look forward to. Either way, have a great trip!

Five nights seems too short to me (even with a return trip in the near future) and eleven nights seems a long time away from home.

Is there anyway you could make two seven night trips?

I haven't tried the other parks yet (Universal, Sea World, etc.) and that may make a difference, but my longest trip to date was 9 nights and 10 days, and by the last day, I was ready to go home. Of course, I was a teenager then, and that could have had something to do with it. I wanted to get back to my friends.

Now days, I think 14 nights and 15 days would be just about perfect for a visit.

Last year, we stayed 7 or 8 nights (I can't remember) and it definitely seemed too short of a time for me. We added an extra night, and it was just not enough time. I was very sad to leave. I think as you get older, time moves faster.

If you have teenagers, you might want to opt for the two five night visits. It seems a shame to pay for transportation twice (and the time it takes to get there to boot!).

However, if you know you are returning in a month or so, maybe leaving won't be so sad.

Let us know which you choose and how you feel about it when you get home! Maybe it will help me with my plans in the future.

Best wishes for a magical vacation(s)

I agree... 7 nights would be even better and then come back again in July.

Hi!
Yes, we can also do 7 nights at the Polynesian and 5-6 nights at the BCV.

My children are 5 -13. They love the two trip idea because it certainly breaks up the summer. I just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. I know it's a matter of opinion, but other's thoughts and ideas certainly help.

There is the additional cost of traveling as a con to two trips, but then there's 12 nights of eating out that is a con on the long trip. Believe me, we do enjoy going out to dinner, and we will have a kitchen at BCV, but who wants to cook on vacation?

I don't know which way I'm leaning at this point ... but keep the thoughts coming.

Thanks!

I would take 2 five night trips. We usually go for 5 or 6 nights and its a perfect getaway. I like it because we get to go back more often. I don't have to wait so long between trips to get my Disney fix. LOL. Of course, we only spend a couple of days in the theme parks each trip which gives us enough time to relax. Our DD, age 18, likes it better too as she isn't away from her friends so long. Once my DH and I went for 4 nights by ourselves which was okay as it was the first time we left both kids at home but I don't think I would do it again.

I vote for two trips. When you get home from the first trip, you will have another trip to look forward to!!!

Another vote for 2 trips!!:Pinkbounc It will also give you something to look foward to when you get back in june.;)

It looks like I'm in the minority here, but I'd go for the one long trip. I like traveling just as much as the next guy, but taking two trips in a month span seems like too much to me. You'll lose 4 days to travel, instead of 2. Also, I just returned from a 6 night trip in Feb and it was just too short after staying 10 nights last summer. The 10 night trip was AWESOME!! We spent many days at the pool and it was our most relaxing WDW trip ever. We actually weren't ready to go home yet, and wanted to stay a few more days, but couldn't due to vacation schedules. For me and DH, it usually takes up a couple of days to completely relax and then if we're leaving a couple days after that, we really don't get to enjoy the trip. If we're there for 10 days or more, we really get to relax and enjoy our surroundings. Something to think about......

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I will discuss the options with DH this evening and see where it takes us!
