11 months....do you always get your reservation?

These replies are all interesting....since I've now heard of someone not getting their reservation!

I wasn't really asking for any particular reason other than curiosity....we don't really plan to try WDW for the holidays for at least a few years. By then I should be able to be more on top of things!

I own at HH so, I do the 7 month reservation. I have never not been able to get at 7 months!! Also, I never do the day to day thing. I just call at the 7 months from the day of checkout. I am easy on where I stay...Just want to be there!! So, I can't see any problems with a 7 month window.

I got through at 9:10 AM, but all the BWV standard 2BR were booked in those 10 minutes. So I took a preferred and waitlisted for a standard. Well, that waitlist never came through, so we had to move to a preferred in the middle of our stay and then back to a standard the next day. Major bummer, especially with lots of people and "stuff" involved. :( ...

Wow, what a hassle!

I'm wondering, would it have been possible to pay cash for that one night in the middle when no standard view was available on points? I realize that one doesn't get a discount for the standard view this way; it costs the same as if it were preferred. But, I wonder if that would be an option instead of moving, in case this ever happens to me.

I don't think you could get a cash room at the BWV on New Year's eve. Even if you could, the prices are insane!

The same thing happened to us. New Year's eve was in the middle of our trip and we had a standard view room for all of the other nights. I pointed this out to the CM at check in and they worked it out so that I didn't have to move. I did have to check out and check back in but I could stay in one place. I'm sure that someone who was in for only New Year's eve was given my preferred view room for that one night.

Hi, Judy. Yup, it was a hassle and did put somewhat of a damper on an otherwise terrific stay. You have a good thought, that I could have maybe pursued a cash ressie for that one night. But 2 BR rooms don't come cheap for NYE  so we probably would have chosen the hassle over the large chunk of change anyway. Now, if it had been a studio at a cheaper time of year, I probably would have shelled out the cash. ::yes::

So, you paid the points cost for a preferred view room for that one night, but didn't have to move from your standard view? I didn't know you could do that!

This would be really useful for anyone who really doesn't care what the actual view from the window looks like, and wants to save as many points as possible.

Oh, man, I wish I had been that lucky. I called every day once I was within the 7 day window in case there were any changes or cancellations. Once I checked in, I asked (well, begged actually :p) every day right up until the day we had to move. They said there was just no way we could avoid moving. I was extremely disappointed, but didn't get upset with the CMs at all. They were very kind and were really trying to help me. It just wasn't meant to be. :(

What still boggles my mind is how I could reach MS only TEN MINUTES into the 11-month window, not get my room, and never have it come through in all those long months of waiting. I felt like the most unlucky DVC owner around. :(

Mostly felt bad for my sister. She was the one with the large family who had to repeatedly pack and unpack. I felt personally responsible for all her hassle, even though I had done everything I possibly could to avoid it happening. She tried hard to be a good sport, and still felt so excited to be in a beautiful 2 BR at BWV. (3 different 2 BR rooms actually  ) Our trip was terrific apart from that, but I sure hope to avoid moving in the middle of a stay again.
