Hi! I apologize if this topic has been covered before. I’m at 11 months right now for a trip I’m wanting to take next June. I wasn’t able to get my six night stay reserved as it was booked up before I could ever get in and wasn’t fast enough to ever start a walk. My question is, what’s the best waitlist strategy for a high demand resort/room at 11 months for a longer than a couple night trip? I put in a waitlist for entire 6 nights, then also did a waitlist for the first two nights in case someone cancels but doesn’t cancel for the full six nights. I’m not sure if I should put in two waitlists covering the first three nights, and then the last three, leave the 6 night waitlist but then do a longer waitlist than the two night stay I currently have waitlisted? I want to get as many nights as possible by waitlisting but also don’t want to miss out because I waitlisted too long of a stay, in the event only a couple nights come available. Any thoughts or experiences from the pros?

I’d say two waitlist for 1 and 2 nights (assuming you have tow waitlist open). If this high demand room that way you capture the walkers maybe. I’d also at the end of everyday check with MS to see if the waitlist matched to make them clear it so it opens tomorrow to do the same thing.

Also the sooner you get the waitlist in the better. And keep checking tomorrow AM to see if someone walked today open.

Also it’s definitely being booked it isn’t one of the resorts likely to be refurbished next year. A few of them have inventory being removed.

Definitely keep the waitlists shorter than longer because if people are walking, those nights will show back up as they are dropped.

If they don't, then you know its not necessarily walking, but people who want those rooms for that night.

In surprised anything is high demand for June we usually always find great availability at 7 months for June. Personally I’d book something that is available so I have a room

I had to do this recently for 2 trips in November and January. I booked what was available then did single night waitlists. Between n that and stalking I got both trips within 2 weeks. I then just had MS link the reservations.

Probably trying to get a value room at AKV 🤣🤣🤣

If it is a value or club room at AKV don't count on the waitlist ever coming through.

Agree. Those rooms are very difficult, and we've needed to get lucky by stalking the web site for a reservation. Some years it works. Many years it doesn't. I expect there is another room category/resort that is similar - we're just familiar with AKL.
