11 Month Reservation Question

I bought this year in March and I was able to book my Dec. 9-14 without a problem. This was at SSR. I know I am one that does not want to be on the phone at 9 am exactly 11 months before. That is one reason I thought SSR would be a good home resort for me. I would think (at least for now) you could get a reservation at SSR at 10-8 months at anytime of year. (I could be wrong because I have yet to try Thanksgiving or Christmas week)

Spaddy, I agree that having to have a scheduled, "stopwatch" approach to making reservations can seem annoying.

But trust me, as a member since 2000, I've never looked back on having to plan to dial MS starting at 8:57am on a specific morning as a waste of time or effort. Why? Because that at most ties you up for 10 minutes every morning over the course of a week or so. Trust me, that investment will seem minimal when you arrive at WDW almost a year later and day after day enjoy the fact you (unlike most of the other guests you see) are in exactly the space you want, because you got to "cherry-pick"

I'm pointing all of this out because no, even at SSR (which is slowly but surely filling up) you are likely going to eventually find that you can't assume space will always be available more than a week or two after the 11 month window. And that may not just be during the top high season holiday periods - increasingly, WDW has fewer and fewer "truly slow" seasons.

I agree, I do think it is worth the time. I just know I am a little ditzy when it comes to that stuff and I forget. Also, we are fairly new to going to WDW and for the first couple years I am not sure exactly when we are going to travel. Of course, this is what I love about DVC. I love the flexiblity. I started reading these boards about January and it just seemed like a lot of people from BWV were complaining about not getting reservations for December even if they called on the first day available. I know that would really frustrate me.

Remember that the majority of complaints here about "space being unavailable" come from people calling at the 7th month window for ressies outside their home resort. That is why one continully hears "buy where you want to stay most."
