The light of day proved that I had done a pretty good job cleaning up the mess from the night before! I had to call housekeeping to have them finish the job (Sorry Budi!). I was relieved that there was no mention of confining DS12 to his room. It turned out that he was fine, just ate a little too enthusiastically the first day on the ship.
DS12, DS8 and I went to Tritons for breakfast. Everything was very good. It was pretty standard fare; eggs, pancakes, bacon sausage, etc... I hoped there would be something a little more exotic, but I had no complaints!
We had decided to stay on the ship instead of going into Nassau. From the ship, Atlantis looked very cool, but we decided that since wed paid to be on the ship, and we only had three days, wed use this day to relax on board.
DW and DS4 took DS7 to deck 9 to get her hair braided. She, like dozens of girls on the ship, got what I believe is called "a crown". This cost about $20 and was really fun for her! It gave her a real tropical look!
We brought the three younger kids to their clubs. DS12 wasn't interested in the club, so I guess he just hung out. This allowed DW and I to spend some quiet time at the adult pool. There was NO ONE in the pool when we got there! I swam and laid on a chair on deck 10. DW just laid on a chair and read. The peace and quiet and sunshine were great. Actually there were passing clouds, but since most of my body hadnt seen the sun since late August, uninterrupted sun probably wouldnt have been good!
We retrieved DS12 and grabbed lunch at Beach Blanket Buffet. Recited the lunchtime mantra; save room for dinner, save room for dinner, save room for dinner . DW and I split a pretty good wrap sandwich, a little fresh fruit and shrimp. I couldnt skip dessert and the apple pie was very good. DW enjoyed a swan cream puff (thats a description, not the official name).
Brother Bear was playing in the Walt Disney Theatre at 2pm, so we went to get the kids checked out of the clubs and headed to the theatre. Before watching the movie, I had the pleasure of attending a small, quick DIS meet! It was fun meeting golfknut and minnieluvzmickey and their spouses after chatting on the DIS the last few weeks. Thanks to minnieluvzmickey for wearing her lime green DIS shirt. It wasnt difficult to spot her at Beach Blanket Buffet!
I only missed a few minutes of Brother Bear and still enjoyed the movie. The kids all got Brother Bear buttons that said, I Saw It At Sea; a nice little souvenir!
DDs went back to the clubs after the movie and I brought DS8 to the family pool. The pool was PACKED! You only had room to stand, there was definitely no swimming! But, I guess we got cooled off anyway.
Time to get ready for dinner again! All of us were excited for Animators Palate night. This is the dining room that always seems to get the most attention on the trip planning videos and Travel Channel specials.
There was definitely more Disney in AP than the other dining rooms; music, pictures on the walls, etc
I had the Lobster & Shrimp Wrapper for appetizer, the tomato salad and Maple Glazed Salmon for entrée. The salmon was really good and so were the potatoes that come with it. Im a chocolate lover, so I had to go for the double fudge chocolate cake for dessert.
The show at Animators Palate was very enjoyable, but I think our expectations were too high. I think we would have enjoyed it more if we didnt know what was coming. I expected the color changes to be more subtle and sneak up on us, but the pictures turned from B&W to color like a switch was flipped. The climax of the show with the colors changing and the music was really good.
Kids ruled after dinner and we went to see Find Nemo instead of going to the Hercules show. Now I dont want anyone to tell me how great Hercules is! Our family had already seen Finding Nemo, but none of the ILs had seen it. And, I guess its a good movie to see at sea! In fact, I was kind of disappointed that we didnt get to see Pirates of the Caribbean on board, but you only have so much time!
