Christine: When did you get so good at door signs? I don't remember yours from last year. Good thing we're not next door to one another because I stole two of yours.

I liked her calendar door sign but I'd better use the one I have already...we "are" beside her in cabin 6592! :thumbsup2

This is in answer to an email that I sent based on reviews from the cruise critic website posts on the Cozumel port and recommendations for tour guides. Let me know what you think.

Hola Lisa,

My name is Mike, a friend of Gerry's. I am answering because while his spoken English is very good, for him writing in English is still tricky.

Gerry has a stationwagon which seats 4 average-sized adult passengers, and comes equipped with ice cold A/C, CD player (bring your tunes!) and a cooler if you choose to buy beverages and ice during your tour. A tour costs $80USD for the 1st 3 hours and $20USD per each additional hour.

He can also provide a van with the same amenities, which holds up to 8 passengers. A van tour will run $180USD for the first 3 hours and $35USD per each additional hour. Gerry regrets the increased charge, but since he does not have a van of his own, he must rent one.
Charges are per vehicle, not per person. There is a 3 hour minimum charge for all tours.
Beverages, lunch, park admissions, etc. are your responsibility.

Gerry has lived in Cozumel for over 20 years, so of course he knows all the popular tourist destinations as well as the out of the way gems. Popular stops include:

-San Gervasio Ruins http://www.cozumelparks.com.mx/eng/parks-sangervasio.asp

-Tequila History Tour http://www.worldgolf.com/features/take-the-tequila-tour-when-golfing-in-cozumel-5580.htm

-Punta Sur http://www.cozumelparks.com/eng/parks-puntaSur.asp

-Chankanaab http://www.cozumelparks.com/eng/parks-chankanaab.asp

-Discover Mexico Theme Park http://www.discovermexico.org/

The isolated east side of the island is perfect for beachcombing, sightseeing and having a cold drink at one of the few bar/restaurants on the "wild side". Take some pics of the waves smashing up on the natural limestone "bridge" at EL MIRADOR, and a few snaps from the edge of the cliff at COCONUTS bar. At 41 ft, it's the highest point on the island!

-Mezcalitos http://www.mezcalitos.com/

-Coconuts http://www.islacozumel.net/food/coconuts/ http://www.islands.com/article.jsp?ID=47916

-El Mirador http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1342995619057125515abSXCR

The west side beach clubs are where you want to be if you want to swim or enjoy a jetski, parasail or banana boat ride. Of course, just lounging around and working on your tan while enjoying a frozen island cocktail is acceptable as well! The best spots that DON'T charge an admission fee:

-Mr Sancho's http://www.mrsanchos.com/mr_sanchos/home.htm

-Paradise Beach http://www.paradise-beach-cozumel.com/

Hassle and haggle free shopping can be found at LOS CINCO SOLES. The widest selection of Mexican handicrafts on the island! http://www.loscincosoles.com/mainwelcome.htm

Gerry can also take you souvenir shopping off the main drag where they don't pay kickbacks to the cruiselines and offer much better prices. Of course, if you're a Cozumel regular or have done some research on your own, Gerry can follow YOUR itinerary!

Gerry is available, so please write back if you are interested and we'll reserve the day for you. Let us know if you need the stationwagon or the van, and what local time you'd like to leave from the pier. I'll reply with a confirmation and rendezvous instructions.

Remember, Cozumel is on Central Time. Same as Texas, one hour behind Florida.

Muchas Gracias,
Gerardo De Leon + Mike.

:wave2: Hi Cheri Yes, we dried out here quite quickly, but the Kalamazoo river it very close to flooding out some homes along its edge. :wave2: Hi Shell Missed both of you this morning!

Another reason to get a t-shirt--it sure a heck of alot easier to identify each other with the t-shirts on! We all don't look exactly like our pictures :rolleyes1 But with the t-shirt on, you can usually figure out who it is!

LisaRae that looks really cool. Are you going to do that?

Sirena, Welcome! I'm Dawn and I travel with my 2 grandsons Skylar and Christian who will both be 12.

The soccer game for this evening was cancelled because the other school has been closed for 2 days due to flu. Guess we don't need to be there anyways. Still going to hold practice.

Big Brother finale on tonight.

Hi all
Sitting here at Elizabeth's swim team practice because I'm not supposed to work out yet - another week or two until doc said I can get back on the treadmill. The good news about having surgery is that I've lost 15 pounds. Now to get back to the gym so I can keep em off in a good way.

After school activities have started in earnest. Monday and Tuesday and Friday are swim team practices for Elizabeth. Wednesday she has nearly five hours (that's right - from 4 p.m to 8:45 p.m.) of dance. She will do another solo this year so she has a private lesson. She also has joined a performance group that hopes to dance at WDW in June - they're waiting to hear if they get accepted. Thursday night is soccer practice and Saturday mornings are soccer games. Not to be outdone, Emily has gymnastics in the afternoon on Monday and then dance on Monday evening).

Fourth grade is VERY different than third grade too. Lizzie comes home from school, does her homework, doesn't need/want help and we move on. I feel like I should be more involved but I think it's part of what the school wants them to do to start to become more independent. Just makes me nervous.

I'm still feeling sluggish and getting frustrated with the time it's taking to recover but am trying to take it easy so that by cruise time I'll be 100 percent ready to have fun!

Have a great evening all.

Jeff

 Hey Jeff
 Hey Wendy

OK, gotta go get my stitches taken out:scared: Mother in Law is in town so I probably won't be checking in today. Talk to you guys tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

just dropping by to check in for aminute.
Looks like plenty of chit chat around here today.

Jeff your girls are so busy it makes me tired just to read everything they are doing:lmao: Be patient and get that rest, we need you 100% for the cruise:thumbsup2

we hit 93 so far today. I had to turn on the AC this afternoon.

I think I will fix tacos and fruit for dinner tonight. That shouldn't heat up the RV too much, since the meat is already cooked. just need to zap it to warm it up.

Pretty quiet here today, yet the park is almost filled with some kind of senior get together. I think they were all taking a nap this afternoon. it was so quiet:lmao: :lmao:

Off to check out the 09 board, I think we are about 4 or 5 pages from starting a new thread there.
I will check back later tonight,

Verna, Elmer and Inspector, did we scare you all away??

Where are you people, we miss your posts:goodvibes
Cruise time is approaching fast, so we need to get aquainted better.
Drop us a line now and then.:thumbsup2

Kathy :flower3:
