Well we are having the best time here so far. Here's a brief rundown of what we have done.

Sunday night: Osbourne Lights at DHS - FANTASTIC
Monday AM: Got to DHS close to opening and scored fast passes for Toy Story Mania. Then went to Playhouse Disney, Beauty and the Beast show and then used our fast passes. Had lunch at Brown Derby which is one of our favorites.
Monday PM: Went back to the room for a while and went to the quiet pool and hot tub at the BCV for a bit before getting ready for our evening.
Monday night: Dinner with Pooh and friends at the Crystal Palace. So far our only "okay" experience. The food was pretty bad which isn't the case at breakfast. But we had fun with the characters. Then we went into the park which was more crowded than I have ever seen it. Ever. Went to Small World and the carousel and then we were headed to the front of the park to watch Holiday Wishes when we hit gridlock. Way way way too many people approaching the "hub." So we stopped in our place (for Mina and Emily it was in the middle of it all) for Lizzie and I near Caseys. We found a GREAT place to watch fireworks without crowds. Then back to the room after all that.

Tuesday AM: We entered the gates of the MK at 7:45 a.m. and it was EMPTY. We walked on to Space Mountain, the race cars and buzz lightyear. Mina and Emmy walked on to Pooh and got us fast passes for Splash later on and then we all met at Dumbo and went on after a short wait..then on to Peter Pan..then we all went to the Castle to watch the show at the Castle stage and wait for Pat and her family. I got us all some fast passes for Space Mountain for later. Then we all went around together. Had the best time with Pat, Stacey, Stephen, Laura, Cullen and Pat's daughter Bobbi and her little boy William and their friends. During the course of the day we rode Haunted Mansion, Space Mt. again, Splash Mt., some folks rode the Blue Line and Small World and the Carousel, Buzz Lightyear again, Goofy Rollercoaster and perhaps one or two more. We saw the afternoon holiday parade including Santa then left the park to get to Chef Mickey's for dinner. Had a fantastic dinner. Lots of great character interaction and good food too. We were all exhausted by now (and it was all of 6:30 p.m. :rotfl: ) But we went to the Poly for some shopping since we hadn't done enough of that yet. but the girls got Disney Gift Cards from Santa in their stockings and they were burning a hole in their pockets. After that, we went to MK to catch the bus back to BCV. We were all pretty tired so we just hung out in the room and the girls were asleep by 9:15. And we were done by about 11.

We slept in this morning and are just now going over the Epcot for a short while before going to ESPN Club to watch the Sun Bowl - Pitt vs. Oregon State. We are planning to go to Epcot after the game as we have dinner resevations at Le Cellier. Hoping to get some fast passes for later when we go over right now. We shall see.

In all our times of going to WDW we have never done the "early morning" thing very well. But it is truly the secret. Getting there at or close to opening allows you to ride a bunch of rides, walk around without wall to wall people and get fast passes for later and get out before the crazy crowds happen.

Ok..we are off now! Have a great New Year's Eve everyone.

So here is the rest of our trip.

We did go to Epcot on New Year's Eve morning after I posted this and it was absolutely insane. We arrived mid morning and all fast passes were gone for the entire night and the park was open til 1 a.m. :scared1: We walked toward Spaceship Earth and saw that it was a 65 minute wait. What? for Spaceship Earth. It was at this moment we made a great decision. FLEE. We left the park as it clearly was insane and wasn't going to get any better. We had been pretty prepared for this for New Year's Eve day but had to see it for ourselves.

So we went to the pool at the Beach Club for a couple of hours before going to the ESPN Club to watch the Pitt basketball and football games. Good news for the hoopsters and ugly game by the footballers. Fun regardless as we ran into some folks from our church.

Back to the villa to chill for a while then we got ready for dinner. Off to Le Cellier in Canada for a great meal. We had never eaten there before. We were done just in time to watch the early Illuminations and we did that and then left the park. We went to the Boardwalk where they were having a NYE party with a DJ and lots of fun. Girls got their hair wrapped, we played boardwalk games, had a drink, listened to the music and then went back to the room to celebrate the New Year.

Thursday (Jan 1) - We were in Epcot early for the Princess breakfast (great fun) and I skipped out to run for fast passes for Soarin' at opening. I watched the "rope drop crowd" heading for Soarin as I approached from the side. It convinced me I never want to be at rope drop. Too many rude, pushy people. I got our fast passes for 10:15 and then returned to breakfast. Afterward, we rode Spaceship Earth (love the new twists) then Soaring (got fast passes for later for Soarin), then Lunch at Mexico, then the kids got passports (and Emily did a mask) and we started visiting countries. They got to visit 7 of the countries and get their passports stamped. We also went into the show in America, rode Soarin' again (yippee) and then rode Maelstrom before leaving the park. After a quick chill out in the room, we hit the Boardwalk and rode the bikes and then had a late dinner at Spoodles. Great meal! Emily fell asleep at dinner and then we all followed shortly.

Friday (Jan. 2) Our last full day here. We went to DHS first thing AM for EMH, ran to Toy Story Mania and picked up fast passes. Then the girls went on the Great Movie Ride while I rode Tower of Terror (Fun!). Then we all went on the Backlot Tour, saw a bit of the HSM3 Live Street Party, then saw Muppet Vision 3D. Pizza at the Toy Story Pizza place where we got to see Wendy and her family! Then we headed to Toy Story Mania and a little shopping and then out of the park.

We went swimming and hot tubbing for a bit and then got ready to head to the MK where we had dinner ressies at Liberty Tree Tavern. They brought Emily a cupcake to celebrate her birthday early and that was fun. Characters were great fun this night especially Chip and Dale. We didnt plan to stay in the park as we were all pretty "parked out" by now. So we just had dinner, watched a bit of the parade and rode the monorail to the Poly for the girls to shop a bit. Then we went back to the BCV to pack and crash.

Saturday (Jan. 3) Our go-home day and Emily's birthday. We booked a breakfast at Cape May where they brought a muffin with a candle and Minnie Mouse herself came over to celebrate with us. It was good fun as well and a nice ending to our trip.

This really was one of our best trips ever. We really are exhausted by it but it was worth it. I'll post some pics when I get a chance to download.

Jeff,
that sounds like an awesome trip even with the crowds.
Did you like the New Toy Story parade at Hollywood studios?

I saw the original about 12 years ago and would like to see the new one they have now.

Now that you've seen the worst crowds you probably understand why we avoid the parks on holidays ;)
But the Osborne lights are great at MGM. I still use the old name most of the time.
I like the original display when the back lot was still house fasades. It was more spread out and fun to stroll down the roads. Much less crowded feel to it back then.

Can't wait to see the pictures!!!
Kathy

We didn't stay either day for the parade. Kids are split on parades. Lizzie hates em, Emily loves em. So we don't go see every one.

The crowd the night we went to Osbourne Lights was not bad at all. There was lots of room to stroll and take pictures. I think we got there late enough that it was just right.

Like Greg said we have reservations at Mt. Rushmore for July and I plan to make reservations at WDW for late August. Greg, when's the shuttle due to launch?

August 6th is whats scheduled right now, but that may change?

Are you guys interested in going if it launches sometime the first part of August?

When in August were you going to WDW?

I'm sure we'll probably go to Discovery Cove again while we're in Orlando! :cool1:

Hi Greg, you'll love Mt. Rushmore. We were there a few years ago and I was also there as a Kid. If you get the time, stop by the Chief crazy horse monument, its really close to Rushmore. It is the indians version of Rushmore and has been under construction for years and years because they wont take any governemnt help with it. So donations and money from seeing their museum and the mountain are what they use. That is why it is taking so long to build.

They have a great indian museum there.
For me it was fun because I saw it as a young teen, then as a adult with my 2 kids and hopefully someday I will see it again to see the progress they have made. I hope it is finished in my lifetime.

Kathy

Its hard to believe that I live only about 700 miles from Rushmore, but have never seen it. I heard about the crazy horse momument and plan on seeing it also. :thumbsup2

There's an old 1880 steam train in Hill City that Brayden wants to ride, so we'll probably do that too......Brayden loves trains!! :cloud9:

If Greg is nice I may even try to say hello to him after the launch.
I wont mee thim before the launch. I am afraid he will try and trhow me on the space shuttle, just to get rid of me, since I didnt walk the plank on board the ship:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Kathy

Oh now! I wouldn't do that!

I want you to meet us at Discovery Cove......they have some marine life there you've got to see....up close!! :rolleyes1
