11/26/2011 EARLY Bananahead reunions cruise

Hey Dawn!

Are we still a go for doing Alaska in 2011? I guess if 2011 is available for booking we can start pricing cruises. :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone,

The rain has let up some so i guess I wont have to ask Santa to get me a rubber raft.;)

We got our mini tree up and even found some small decorations to put on it. Greg made a table top that fits over the drivers seat and i put a Christmas table cloth over it and put the tree on it. It looks pretty good. I put a few presents under the tree, well actually around it,no room under it.

Today I will hang up the garlands and the cards we have received. So its really starting to look pretty festive in here.:goodvibes

Had some bad news yesterday. I dont know the person so it doesnt effect me personally but Gregs cousin ran away as a teenage back in 1982. Nobody has hear from her sense. Of course her parents hoped she was just living some where ok. I guess the police just matched her dental records with remains they found way back in 1985. She was one of 4 young girls found within a mile of each other. They believe the Green River Killer, killed her and the others although he denied it. I feel badly for her parents to be grieving for her again. Its like they lost her twice.

I guess at least now they can lay her to rest and have some comfort in that.

On to happier things now,
Hey I read DCL send out letters to the Baltic and Med crusiers and gave them all $100. OBC for every member of their party for their cruise:thumbsup2
A few on my TA cruise got the letter too although it was a mistake but DCL said they will honor the OBC since it was their error. I wish I got one of those letters:goodvibes

Not sure why they did this, maybe too many cancelled their reservations and this is an incentive to get them to stay? Just an idea? They wouldnt give that perk if they didnt have to. But it is sure nice for those who got it.

Anybody here know why they gave out the OBC? Any theories?

Greg hows the snow situation there:rotfl2: 6 feet deep and rising?

Gotta run,

back later,

Kathy

Oh, that would be just terrible to have that happen to your child! Not only runaway and not know how they are doing, but then to find out years later that they were murdered!!

I wonder why it took so long to find out who it was if they found the body back in 1985? Surely the parents would of filed a missing persons report....you'd think the police would of checked those reports to find any matches?!

It's snowing now...very lightly but it looks like it could start dumping any minute! :thumbsup2

I've got an appointment with the rheumatologist for my hands and arms in about 45 minutes....guess I'd better starting getting ready to leave.

Later.....

We wondered the same thing. They reported everything, thats how come they had dental records. I guess since she was just another runaway they didnt pay much attention. Then it was a cold case.
Now I know they have detectives that do nothing but cold case files and sometimes they get lucky and hit a match.
I think our technology is so much more advanced that its easier now for the police to match up identities. Before it would take forever to match things, now with computers they can run scans and wait until a match hits then ivestigate it.

Goodl uck with the Doc. Hope they can do something for you.

Hi Denise,
Boy its getting late to be mailing packages!! Hope it arrives in time.

Well I just attempted to make marshamllows for the first time.

I will say it is extremely easy if you have a good stand mixer which I have but its in storage. I decided to try it with my hand mixer, although the odds were against me.

I beat it for an hour and it did thicken up but not sure if it is thick enough but I didnt want to burn out my little hand mixer so I stopped and put it in the pan as directed and now it will have to sit over night to dry out and then I will know if it worked or not.

I would enourage anyone with the right mixer to try to make them it really was easy and quick to do. I did take a little taste on my tongue and the flavor was great.
If they work I will try to make rice krispy squares out of 1/2 of them which was my intention anyway. The cereal doesnt have too much sugar for Greg but store bought marshamllows do and the sugar free ones you can buy on line are gritty and dont melt good at all. He loves rice krispy squares so I thought I would try it.

I didnt tell him so he wont be disappointed if it doesnt work. But at least i know when my mixer is unpacked I can do it then and it will work:thumbsup2

Not much else happening right now. After lunch I will bake one small batch of cookies and make some icing for decorating which I can keep in the frig to use as I bake the cookies.

Kathy

I made it back from the doctors, but I don't think we accomplished much?

The Rheumatologist said after checking me over and doing an ultrasound on my wrists and knees....."Well, I think you've got inflammatory arthritis?"

I said "Ummm yeah, I already knew that....how do I get rid of it?"

He ordered more blood tests, xrays, ultrasounds and an MRI.

He wanted to give me shots of cortisone and I told him he'd have better luck winning the lottery then he would getting needles in my wrists and elbows!

Kathy,

Your homemade marsh mellow is sugar free? How do you make those?

I'd be interested in trying to make some. :thumbsup2

I dont blame you about the shots. I have a friend who had one in her knee. It did work but she said it was the worst pain she had ever had and it take awhile to get it, it isnt fast like most shots are.:sad2:

I use an artificial sugar I buy on line to replace the sugar. Those you buy in the stores burn and loose sweetness when you cook with them.
The stuff I use is called Natures Sweet granulated sugar crystals. I believe Steel makes it. It is similar to what a lot of manufacturers use to make sugar free products you buy in the store.
You can even make hard candies with it and it wont burn and it keeps its sweetness and measures like normal sugar. It also comes in powdered sugar.
But it is expensive. $16.99 per package with i think is 32 oz.
I buy it at www.sugarlessshop.com look under sugar substitutes. I use it for special baking.

I use it to make my own corn syrup too.
1 cup sugar substutite mixed with 1/4 cup cold water is = to 1 cup of light corn syrup.

If you try equal or splenda it wont work. so if you decide you want to try it I will send you the receipe. Its really simple and fast to do.
Just let me know.

Yeah, I'd like to have the receipe.....making my own marsh mellow sounds like fun! I love rice krispy treats! :woohoo:

Greg, I emailed you the receipe. I did forget to say it takes about 15 minutes of whipping with a stand mixer.

Mine seem to be drying out nicely. Humidity might be a factor like other candies, we shall see.

Greg, hope things go well with all your upcomeing tests. I hear ya about the needles.....I have planter fascitis....I had two cortisone shots in my heel and now I have another flare up and need to go back......not happy but it does help and I can walk "normal" again.
The last shot I got, the doctor brought a resident in the room as asked if it was ok that he was in the room while I got my injection.....I told the reisident sure, as long as you dont mind a lot of screaming:lmao:

Greg......the video....:confused3 left me speechless......and you know thats kinda hard to do.......I have no comment on it at all.:scared1::eek:

have a good one.....

gee I hope we didnt scare danielle away already.

Denise,

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!

Let me know how your dance turns out and if your house sells. :rolleyes1

Apparently I did mine wrong, but luckily Kathy's dance worked for both of us because I did manage to get a little snow my way out of it. :lmao:

Of course my dance worked, was there ever any doubt?

Remember I am part Cherokee:thumbsup2

Danielle, please dont let us scare you away.

Post a subject and we will be happy to chat about it. Excursions, weather, the new ships, families, Christmas plans, we love to chat about everything.

Sometimes we get a bit crazy but it keep us going while we wait to see about the cruise.;)

Well I'm part Cherokee too, but I figured I'd scare the h*ll out of my neighbors if they saw me dancing naked on my front lawn with a rubber chicken! :rotfl2:

Happy Wednesday everyone,

My marshamllows came out great!! I am so happy about that. Now to buy some cereal to make bar cookies with.:thumbsup2

We are still dumping rain but at least we are much warmer, however our low temps will be coming back next week:sad2:

Pretty quiet around here today. Minnie is snuggled next to me under her blanket snoring like a lumber jack. Pixie is cat napping on the couch. She keep opening one eye to check on me. She is afraid I will move somewhere without her.

I have laundry washing today. I have 2 more loads to do before taking them over to the dryers. Hope the rain lets up by then.

I have taken my wafer cookie dough out of the frig to warm up too. I will bake off a few of them and a few sugar cookeis this morning. That will take care of dessert tonight.

Back later to see whats happening around here today,

Kathy

Glad to hear your marsh mellows turned out! :thumbsup2

I'm going to attempt to make them next week when the kids are out of school.

Our school district gets out at noon tomorrow and won't start back up until Jan. 4th.

Any plans for New Years?

Janel and Chayce will be down in Pasadena from Dec. 29 - Jan. 3 for the Rose Bowl and I guess I'll take the other kids up to our condo in Yellowstone for New Years.

Yes,
we have huge plans for New Years.:cool1:

Greg will be working on the addition at his moms since he has 3 days off .
I will be doggie sitting the pups, watching TV, and trying desperately to stay awake until midnight to hear NO noise out here in the country where I live.:rolleyes1
I am lucky to even see a light on in any of the RV's here after 10 P.M.:lmao:

So If I manage to stay awake I will watch one of the count downs on TV and then sleep in if the pups will let me.

I am such a party animal, it's shocking i know :dance3:

Kathy

I plan on having a nice quiet New Years celebration as well. :thumbsup2

We were up at the condo for New Years a couple of years ago. We went up with Janel's brother and his family and couple of our neighbors.....we played games and just sat out on the deck in the hot tub and watched the count down on TV.

When the ball dropped the only noise we heard (other then that on the TV) were the wolves howling off in the distance. I loved it! :woohoo:
