11/26/2011 EARLY Bananahead reunions cruise

Janel and I went Christmas shopping today for almost 8 hours! :scared1:

I think we're basically done?....I hope!

We put up the Christmas tree and exterior lights & decorations this afternoon, so I think other then a few odds n ends we're good to go. :thumbsup2

I'm headed out to soak in the hot tub before bed....I'm exhausted!! :faint:

Greg, I shopped for 12 hours today and only have one present left to pick up!!!

Cannot believe we aren't getting on our boat today:sad1:

12 hours?!....that's crazy! :scared1:

With so many cool islands in the Caribbean I haven't been to yet......I can't even imagine us doing another Western cruise this soon?!

Gosh gang,
I havnt even thought about what to get people and your all done?:confused3
You have been energizer bunnies yesterday:lmao:

I have NEVER shopped on Black friday. I like to leisurely stroll the islaes to see everything and get ideas and I can't do that when there are 1000 other people on the same isle as me;)

I still get great buys. When Peter coems to visit i will ask him to watch the dogs for 3 or 4 hours so I can zip out to shop alittle and wont tell Greg. Otherwise he would find the gifts. Not much room to hide things around here.

Since I am going to be in this RV at least through this winter I am asking santa for a snuggie!! It is something I will use everyday.

Greg, it cost $4 per person for the taxi plus a tip for $10 to go to the AK. Starting in 2010 the DCL buses will stop at all the hotels. Right now they dont stop at value resorts. It was easy to do. The guys who take your luggage when you arrive get you a taxi in about 1 minute when your ready to leave. There's always a few in the parking lot.

Only thing I didnt like was our paper work said to be there by noon. That was fine. Well the day before DCL called and left a message in our room saying if possible to be there by 10:30 but for sure not later than noon. So instead of going back out I did laundry that evening, which I was going to do the next morning. We got over there in time,10:30 thinking maybe they were having an earlier bus. 2 minutes we were checked in. Then we had to wait until 12:30 to get on a bus. I could have had more fun the night before if I didnt have to rush my laundry due to their call.

That was the only bad thing. The rest went smoothly and no stress at all.

I forgot to say,

It's freezing here this morning!!

34 right now and foggy!! Winter is just starting and already I am sick of the cold:goodvibes

I still think we should move in with Christine and Joey.:thumbsup2

Morning Kathy!

Its cold here to, but at least the sun is out.

I guess we're headed into town again. We found out last night that the shoes we bought Nicole are a size to small and the snowboard and snowboard outfit we got Chayce was the wrong color......going back to exchange a few things. :rolleyes1

We had a really large ornate snow globe that we've had for many years and up until this morning it had survived all of our kids. Well, Brayden and Holly got to fighting over it this morning and dropped it on the floor and it shattered! :sad2:

I've been searching the internet and eBay to see if I can find another one, but so far no luck.

We're meeting with my in-laws today so we can all decide which excursion we all want to do on our cruise in March. They opened up the reservations for speciality dinning and excursion yesterday, so I guess we'd better book now to get what we want.

I'll be back later.....

Sorry to hear about the snow globe. Over the years due to the kids we have lost a few special things too. I hope you can find a new one.

Have fun planning excursions.
Check out this excursion:eek: Just a reminder to be safe! Stay away from jungle areas!!

http://www.windsorstar.com/news/Nightmare+Bahamas/2267762/story.html

A couple years ago, in Aruba I believe ,armed robbers held up a group of seniors at gun point but the old man was retired military and when the robber put the gun in his wifes face he broke his neck and chased after the other robber who ran away. This guy was in his 70's I believe.Maybe older.
They walked off and left the dead guy, finished their shopping then went back to the ship and reported it. No charges were filed as it was self defense.
I thought those crooks must have thought easy pickings with those seniors. What a shock when he fought back and actually killed one of them.

I guess people on the ship soon found out and were congratulating him the rest of the cruise for taking care of the armed robber.

I think it happens more often than we think.

I guess that will teach them not to mess with a group of senior citizens?! :rotfl2:

That's so weird that there has been so much crime in Aruba. We felt totally safe when we were there in June. :confused3

My in-laws came over earlier so we could decide on which excurions we're going to do on our cruise. I talked them into going snorkeling with us at Stingray city and the ship wreck! :rotfl2:

I think we're going to try and charter that same yacht we planned on taking in Grand Cayman last year, but wasn't able to because of some black magic cast that day by a certain someone. :rolleyes1

Those sound like good excursions to me.:goodvibes

We felt safe in Belize too and it has a terrible crime rate. The shopping area is all fenced off with barbed wire, carefully hidden most places and armed guards at the exit and entrance.

I had read where thieves would run out of the jungle to rob people then disappear into the jungle again. They cant find them when they do that.

I never carry much cash on me. Usually one credit card thats it.
I really think when we go on the TA cruise I will use a money belt that fits under your clothes. I will carry my bag but nothing of value will be in it.
Lots of purse snatchings over there.

Man we stayed cold today. 45 for our high and already down to 34. I know it will hit below freezing for sure tonight reguardless of what the weather man says.

Well I am all ready with snacks for the game night:thumbsup2 Peter gets out of class at 6 p.m. and I am sure he will sneak out early and come here to watch the game. If he can get past the traffic. He goes to a community college in Eugene. It will be a mad house there that night.:scared1:

I am dreading taking the pups out for one last break tonight I know I am gojng to freeze!! I have the long johns bottoms but cant find the top yet?

Gotta go,

catch y'all tomorrow,
Kathy

Good morning.

Its overcast here this morning and cold. I think I'll start a fire and take the chill off the house.

How is your mom doing Kathy?

I bought the kids new church outfits when we were in SLC a few weeks ago. The girls got new dresses and the boys got new suits. They're all so excited to go that today they're all dressed and ready for church and it doesn't start for another two hours! :rotfl2:

Well, time to start that fire. I'll check in later.

Morning Greg,

Good thing Minnie isnt there. She loves a fireplace and will snuggle up and sleep in front of it all day. She loves the warmth. The dog sitters have one and she just wanted to lounge by it all day long. After her walk she would run over, grab a quick drink and then run for the fireplace. Luckily there are 3 to 4 dog beds there or she would have run off the other dogs:lmao:

To answer your question about my mom,
she is happy, yet fearful because she knows the end is near at times. Luckily she forgets things really fast. The panic attacks that started all this have returned at night. They have meds for them but i think she has built up a resistance to them because they have been lasting up to 2 hours. When the meds work it is more like 30 minutes. Plus now when they happen she has to be given oxygen to catch her breath.
She has trouble breathing if she is doing anything but sitting still or laying down. Luckily she isnt in any pain, just bruised knees.

She keeps telling the nurses she can't die yet she wants to see her children one more time. Well we have been there to visit but she can't remember 5 minutes after we leave her that we were there. I think that is what keeps her going is wanting to see us kids. Both my brothers went yesterday.

She told them i was a cheapskate because i put the post cards in her purse instead of mailing them to her when i was on vacation:rotfl2: They showed her the postmarks to show her i did mail them. I think she was thinking of the photos i left with her on Thanksgiving.

Anyway my brother is coming to visit me on tuesday and either tomorrow or wednesday when Peter is here to watch the dogs I am going to drive in to see her again. We are day to day now .
The staff has all told us what we already knew, it's a miracle she is still alive as bad as she is. But as long as she knows me and is happy to see me I will go every chance i get.

Very stressful for everyone, but that is life. We have good and bad.
The good is grandbaby #5 is doing well and should arrive around Christmas.
My DD is doing good too. She didnt gain too much weight this time. She is large to start with and has had heart problems so we wernt too thrilled when she wanted more kids. But so far she is doing well.:thumbsup2

Today I am cooking a mini Thanksiving dinner for Greg and Peter. Since we didnt have one so I could visit my mom.
I am making a cherry pie (Greg's favorite) turkey breast (oven is too small for a turkey) dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, corn, and a few snacks. Most snacks are for game night. I will mske individual pizzas that night, probably taco ones for Greg, Peter and pepperoni for the dogs.

Yes I make special pizza for the dogs too.;) No sauce, small amount of grated cheese with some pepperoni slices is all. They love it. Sometimes instead of pepperoni I use ground beef with just some pepper on it. I make them share one 6 inch pizza My dogs eat better than Greg some nights:rolleyes1

Your lucky you can buy clothes without the kids trying them on. I could never do that with my kids, they wouldnt fit right. Guess we were out of porportion:lmao:

Time to go,

back this afternoon after I get my pie done and dressing all ready to cook.

Oh yes, 34 right now!!
Kathy

I'm here. We just got back from church and getting ready for lunch.

The sun came out and is warming things up a little.

Be back later.

Evening all:

This has been a very hectic few days......Thursday of course, but Friday had to work 8-12 and all I did was walk around and kept telling everyone that a year ago I was on my way to Florida.:upsidedow...it was such a horrible day at work.....we have very needy patients....:scared: you could not possibly know what patients think that we should do for them....:confused3 its sooo crazy.
Saturday I did go to our outlet mall and did some BIG damage at the baby clothes shops, but had such a great time picking outfits for Isabella. She is all set for the rest of winter and into spring summer next year. :thumbsup2
Today, I was able to stay home and get the rest of my Chirstmas decorations up and my :laundy: done. But since I have had some downtime, I am having cruise withdrawls......

Kathy: So sorry to hear about your mom. My prayers to you and your family.
Greg: Sorry to hear about your shopping spree and house decorating.....are ya feeling better today?;)

Well not much else going on now.
Have a good evening all
Denise:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Denise,
Did your dad get to come over for Thanksgiving? I hope so.
My turkey breast is cooking as I type. Everything else is done so once the breast is done and resting I will reheat everything and be all set.:thumbsup2

I'll check back later tonight.
Kathy

Howdy Denise!

I was just over on Face book reading Shell's cruise review. She had some picture of Aruba that made me wish I was back there.

I'm with Kathy.....did your dad get to spend Thanksgiving with ya? :confused3

Now that all the Christmas shopping and decorating is done...I'm feeling much better. Now I can relax and enjoy the holiday. :thumbsup2

Kathy, how did you late Thanksgiving dinner turn out?

Hi Joanna, Nice to hear from you.

Greg it all went well accept one thing. The turkey came out nice and juicy, looked great but was tough as shoe leather:eek: That has never happened to me before?? Maybe it was an old turkey. It was fresh, never frozen.
Luckily for me, my son Randy smoked a lot of turkey and had sent dome back with Peter this evening so I opened up some of his turkey , warmed it up and theyhad that with all the trimmings and it was just fine.

The dogs will get the rest of my turkey, a little at a time:rolleyes1
Better than wasting it.

Kathy

That is strange? I've never had a tough turkey before....I've had dry turkeys, but never tough? :confused3

Hi Joanna! Yeah, a year ago we were all leaving Key West on the Magic headed towards Grand Cayman!.....and Kathy was in her cabin doing a voodoo dance to prevent us from getting on the island so she wouldn't have to walk the plank! :lmao: :lmao:
