Well I feel like I'm in Vegas already. The sun is shinning so i looked at my thermometer and it says 124

Guess I need a new one!!

just got a call my cousin died. He just had a complete physical last week for an upcoming prostate surgery (NOT cancer) they gave him an A+ for health.
2 days later his wife came home and found him dead in his chair. He was still warm so she kept trying to wake him up.
Now she is a basket case about it. I feel so badly for her and for my Aunt , his mom. She is elderly and is holding up pretty well but soon it will all sink in, probably after the funeral. He was 62.

He is retired Marines so will have a military funeral at Willamette National cemetary in Portland. Not sure what the cause of death will be. Not sure if they will do an autopsy or not. Could have been a heart attack or anurism??
But after a great physical it takes you by surprize.

Today has been lots of bad news like that. Mom is worse too.
I feel its going to be a rough holiday season around here.

Ok, I have vented and feel better now. Thanks.

I think I will make pork fried rice and pork noodles for dinner tonight. Nice for a change. Easy too. Just have to make the rice early so its cold to start with.

Sorry I have been MIA...my dad was admitted to the hospital Monday evening...so I had to leave work early and bring him there....then was off yesterday and spent the day at the hospital with him. He is doing ok, was admitted with a c-diff bacterial and contagious....so he is in a private room he may be discharged today, kinda hoping, he was supposed to come to my house for thanksgiving.

Well gotta run....I'm really not supposed to be on this site....crack down here at work..... I really hate "big brother"...

Sorry your dad wasnt feeling well. Its so nice you could stay with him a lot. I am sure that helped him to feel better.
Hopefully he will be there for Thanksgiving. Just make sure he rests too.

glad to hear your all doing ok. Relax and enjoy your days off
Greg will be working on all of his days off. Gotta get that addition on his moms place before it gets really bad weather. Once the shell is done and roofed , the inside can be a bit more leisurely.



Greg, dont burn the pumpkin pie.
Your having 2 Thanksgivings again this year right?
So how many at your house tomorrow?
How many when you go to a relatives for dinner?

We use to average 20 to 30 depending on which sides of the family came.

No turkey day for us tomorrow. I will cook turkey dinner on sunday after Greg gets home.
Tomorrow I am going to see my mom and Greg will watch the dogs for me.

She is getting so weak she has to have help to walk even with her cane now.
Last night she fell on the way to the bathroom. Her strength just gave out and her legs buckled. Luckily there was an aide helping her to walk and she grabbed her arm, so mom fell to her knees and didnt break anything.
Although her knees are badly bruised and her arm where she was grabbed. But thats much better than a broken hip. She will be sore for awhile.

For the good news, after she became deaf last week I told my brother I wonder if she has a wax build up. Years ago she had that problem. So he told the nurse and sure enough she has compacted wax in her good ear. Now they are using prescription drops to soften it up to remove it. That will take a few days but at least she will be able to hear again if you talk loudly in her ear.
I am really grateful for that. She gets frightened easily when she cant hear people coming.
But for tomorrow she will speak and I will have to write down my answers for her.
Anyway that is much more important than turkey dinner this year. We have been invited out from 2 people but not going. I know after my visit I will be depressed so not very good company.

Sunday will be our Thanksgiving. Maybe I should tape some football games and the parade to play on the TV on sunday.

I didn't realize we were that close to the bottom of the page?!

Wow! It was a good thing that aide was close by to help your mom! That gets kinda scary when they get that week.

We had Thanksgiving with my wife's family last week and tomorrow we'll have it with my family up at my mother's house. No more big parties at my house for a while.....I hope!

We've been debating about flying down to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl if the Duck's win next week? I'm kinda hoping my wife will settle for watching the game here at home because I'm not ready to take another plane ride just yet! A flight to Aruba and Jamaica and another to Orlando was enough for me this year!

Greg has goen to his moms to work on the addition he is putting on until sunday evening, then we will have our Thanksgiving dinner.
It wotn be quite the same without family but I had a very good visit with my mom yesterday so for me it was worth missing the family get together this once. We will be together at Christmas.


Today is laundry day.
Our rain is suppose to stop this morning and be dry for the next week. I hope they are right this time. It wont be warm but it will be more cheerful to look outside.

Good morning Brantley & Kathy!!

We had a really nice Thanksgiving yesterday....I ate way to much though!

I'm kinda glad we're not going anywhere this holiday season. It's been very nice just being at home relaxing, playing with the kids and visiting with friends and family.

Not much going on here today. We'll be eating leftovers and pumpkin pie while watching movies most of the day. We may try and go watch that movie "Old dogs" at the theater this afternoon.

Well, I ended up staying home with Holly & Brayden because they're to young to sit through a movie.

Janel went with Chayce and Nicole and she just called and said the movie was really funny and that she hasn't laughed that hard in a long time.

Thats great they liked it.
Now you need to get the kids to want to see it again so you can take them next time and enjoy it.


The sun is creeping out finally. The wind just cuts right through me, even with a heavy coat and hat on. I walked the girls once but if it wasnt so cold we would usually have 2 walks by now. So when I had them come back inside i felt guilty so I gave them 4 slices of Gregs Hickory farms beef stick
They loved it. He will see if and wonder, Gee I didnt think I ate that much of it I bought an extra one for the season anyway.

Pretty quiet around here today. Most are gone, probably spent the night with relatives for turkey day.

My washer has been acting up today. I hope it was just too many heavy things in it. So I have taken out a few items and turned it back on. I will see how it does. They have W&D in the rec room, but I am too cheap to want to pay $1.25 to wash then $1.00 to dry. I want my quarters for my vacation penny bank.
