Hi DIS friends!!

I just wanted to stop by and say "HI" :goodvibes

DH (Dave) and I are leaving in a few days for a Double Dip, where we will be rebooking (of course!). We haven't decided on a cruise yet, so I have been looking thru a few postings and really think we will be booking on this one!! You all seem so friendly and fun!! I think we will be a great fit!!

Next week is our 15th wedding anniversary (and my 40th bday sshhh) :p so we will be taking our first DCL cruise without our kids (DD13,DD12,DS11). We don't dare come home without letting them know they have one to look forward to!! :wizard:

We treated ourselves to a 4day Wonder, really spoiled us all for life with a 14day Magic (inaugural Panama Canal), will soon enjoy our 1st ever trip without children (two stops at Castaway Cay!!), and now cannot wait to see what will happen next. We had reservations for inaugural transatlantic crossing, but it was not going to be easy for DH to get the time off work and the $$ was a little scary. :sad2:

No reason for me even to be posting yet, as nothing has been decided (and DH doesn't even know that I think I have "found the one" to rebook), but I just felt the need to say "hi" and hope to join you soon. ;)

Karen,
I say WELCOME to you even though it is not a done deal yet. :confused3
I say go ahead and post with us until you make a definate decision, we would love to hear from you. :goodvibes
The worst thing that could happen is that you get to know a few people who are  about cruising with Disney.

we alway welcome another person to chat with. :surfweb:

:welcome: Karen :welcome:

Kathy

Howdy everyone,
well it is a quiet morning here in Florida. The :sunny: is just coming up so we have a very pretty pink sky to look at. Guess we had an earth quake early too, from one out in the gulf of mexico. Didnt feel a thing, although when we lived in Oregon we had a couple good ones!! Sounded like a freight train. :rolleyes1
well I guess I bumped us up this morning which was my purpose. :dance3:

I'll check back later to see if anyone else has posted today. :surfweb:

Kathy

Good Morning!

Welcome Karen! Have a fantastic time on your cruise - I'm jealous :)

I just wanted to pop in before I get the kids off on the school bus. Normally I'm on my way to work by now and my DH gets them to the school bus, but this morning he had to be at work at 6 a.m. (ugh). So, I actually got to sleep in a little this morning :woohoo:

Just a normal work day for me today. My DH is going to the Redskins game tonight for their game opener. Lucky duck!

Happy Monday!

Dont know if your interested but on www.disneyshopping.com they have some costumes on sale. For adult men there is a capt.Hook and a
Davy Jones costumes that are reduced. The Davy Jones one is really neat looking. No lady pirate stuff, and ther boys pirate isnt on sale yet.

Didnt know if any of you are looking for pirate costumes for your husbands, but wanted to let you know, just in case.

Kathy

Wow an earthquake? I didn't realize Floriday gets earthquakes...How often do you get them?

My dad was in the Air Force and when we lived in Japan we went through quite a few earthquakes with the whole apartment shaking. As a kid I thought it was fun, no so much now...

We get small earthquakes like that too every few years here in NYC. I remember we had one when I was about 8 months pregnant with my son. I woke up and felt the bed moving and remembered thinking to myself that he was kicking really hard, lol.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. The temps dropped yesterday and it wasn't even 60 degrees this morning. Today's my son's first full day of pre-K, last week was just half days, and he ran right in and hugged his teacher. I'm so happy he's made the adjustment so well. I'll also just trying to ignore the fact that it's 9/11. I work downtown and my building faced out onto the towers and even 5 years later it still surprises me every time I look out and they're not there. Sigh........

Hi ladies  (and gents?)

DH has been talking to me about this recent earthquake (but I guess I wasn't really listening since I have been glued to DISboards when not pre-packing for our doubledip) and didn't realize until I read your postings that this was acutally a FL earthquake (just assumed it was another one out here in soCA). That seems weird to me ... earthquakes in FL ... but I guess they happen all over. :sunny:

Okay, I broke the news to DH about you fun people (he totally understands that I partially base our future cruise decisions on fun new and notsonew DIS friends) ... and of course I considered the not quite so pricey rate ... and DS will have a birthday that week ... and since we homeschool, we have great flexibility for school ... and ... it looks like we will be joining you. :Pinkbounc

I totally realize I must appear absurd to some of you, but I just like to know "when/where I am going next" ... otherwise it is just too traumatic to leave that "Magic"al ship!! :p

We are off to DL today to pick up som Pirate Mickey ears (I don't ask DH to dress up in full costume, but I really want us to wear the pirate ears). Oh and we always wear matching shirts for the "welcome aboard" photos. After that, we pretty much throw tropical shirts over swimsuits and hang out on deck whenever there is not a bingo game, or minigolf contest, or other event we "just cannot miss". ;)

We leave in two days and will be back the 26th. Hope to "officially" join you all then. Otherwise, I will be sending pixie dust your way all next week. :wizard:

Karen princess:

Karen,
That is great news!!! :Pinkbounc
I am the same as you, I like to know in advance when we are going somewhere. We have 3 cruises booked right now, but on our next one, (11 weeks) we will book one for 08. We may have to change the date later on, but at least I know I have a cruise booked in 08. :cloud9:
If possible we keep 2 or 3 booked at all times, even a couple years out if the dates have been posted. other wise it is awefully hard to get off that ship!!

Have an awesome cruise :thumbsup2 and give us a detailed report when you return. :surfweb:

Kathy

:jumping1: Welcome Karen. So glad you will be joining us. I don't think you're crazy at all. Actually look at all of us, most of us are going somewhere else before this cruise and yet we are planning like it's in a few months :rotfl2:. I love to plan vacations. I am way into 2009 because it will be my 15 yr Anniversary and my husband's 40th birthday. Right now we want to go to Italy but I have plenty of time to decide.

Sorry I didn't post over the weekend. I had no plans but yet some how was busy the whole time.

Kay, the Vet said she is having seizures because she is just getting old :( She had two this weekend because she got excited. They are not as bad as they were when she first started but they seem to last a little longer. It's still pretty scary everytime she has one. She just lays there, very sad.

Kathy, thanks for the info about the pirate costumes. I was just talking to my husband about dressing up this weekend. He's not too crazy about the idea but since I pack his clothes he will have no choice :woohoo: I am going to look for stuff when we go to DL next weekend. EARTHQUAKE...I can't believe you had one today. I didn't think Florida ever got them.

Laura, I thought about you today. It's a pretty tough day. The city must be weird to be in today. I have been praying all day for all those people. Have you visited Ground Zero? We were in NY in Nov '01 and it was just too soon to go visit.

OK, time to go back to work.

Make sure you hug your loved ones today and say a little pray for those who can't :grouphug:

Good Morning!

It's a dreary, overcast day here with the temperatures reaching only the low 70's today. It sure makes it hard to up and moving

Laura - So glad to hear your DS is adjusting to pre-K. That's such a milestone for little ones. I can't imagine how terrible it must be to have the constant reminder of 9/11 so close to you. :grouphug:

Karen - Wahoo! What terrific news and I totally understand the need have something to plan for. If I don't have something to plan for I drive my DH nuts Hope you have a magical cruise! Come back and tell us all about it. Are you going to post a trip report?

Christine - I thought I was a planner, but you've got me beat. ;) I'd love to go to Italy too but I think that will have to wait - gotta try this cruise first. Thanks for letting me know about your dog's seizures. I think, for me anyway, the worst part about the ones my dog has is that there's nothing you can do other than sit with them. It so hard to see a pet suffer.

I was looking a pirate stuff this weekend and then thought maybe it won't be part of the cruise events next year. Do they change the activities on ship that often? Or is the pirates party pretty much a "staple" event?

Hi everyone,
Kay I think the pirate party will still be around when we sail. Pirates 3 movie comes out next year,so the pirate craze will still be going full steam for quite awhile. :dance3:
When they have such a big money maker they will keep it as long as it is popular and so far it shows NO signs of slowing down. I think they will continue to change and update it through out the year so it's a little different for repeat guests. They have changed it twice so far.

well Im off to the pharmacy and grocery store this morning, I'll check back later. :surfweb:

Hope all the pets out there will have a good day!!! I love animals! :cloud9:

Kathy

I just did a goolge search for adult pirate outfits and looked at lots of sites. didnt buy from them, but DD did. I will ask which site she used, if she remembers. She got great outfits.

I think one site was www.talklikeaparrot.com they had quite a bit. I just watched for close outs and ripped things up and it looked ok. watch for close out stuff at halloween too. Just watch stores with adult size costumes.
I posted a picture of myself with jack Sparrow a few pages back, you can scroll back and see my outfit if you want. I did an uneven torn skirt, blouse with torn sleeves, ripped vest, skull belt, boots and mickey ears pirate hat.
It's nothing special, but it worked fine for me.

One thing to look out for on line, a lot of the stores will NOT let you return the item if it doesnt fit or you dont like it. So read the return policy before you order!!! I think they do this because people would buy a costume for a party, wear once and return it saying they didnt like it.
kathy

Kay,
go back to page 21 and you will see me and my DD and grandaughter in their costumes. maybe they will give you some ideas.

Kathy

Good monring everyone,
I am still waiting to hear back from Marie abotu the site she used to get her pirate costumes at. I will post as soon as she tells me.

DH woke up not feeling well today, I think he has got what our son had last week. Guess I am next!!! :sad2:

Well the week is half over already, hope everyone is having a good one!!!

Kathy

Hello,

Kathy - Thanks for the information on the pirates costumes (love the picture of your DD, grand daughter and you). Sorry to hear your husband isn't feeling well. My coworker has a cold also. I just pray it doesn't hit me.

Tonight my inlaws are coming over to celebrate my DH's birthday (which is actually the 15th). So, last night was spent getting ready for that. We have ribs simmering in the crockpot today, so I'm sure my house is going to smell wonderful tonight.

I also need to prepare a dessert for my company's monthy BBQ that will be held tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be able to check in later.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi friends!

This will probably be my last posting, I really need to start packing!!

Yesterday we set a new family record for "within 24hrs of vacation begins" emergencies!!

DH broke his glasses luckily fixable thanks to a really nice young lady who "just happened to be available" to fix it late yesterday evening. :3dglasses

DS broke his mouth appliance (they just removed the whole thing and cleared away the cement, and will replace when we return home).

Then late last night (when I was going to start packing, really I was) DH and the kids were having a final go at Mario Cart on Gamecube when a celebration/taunting/??? took place resulting in my DS accidentally jabbing his fist (or was it an elbow) in DH's eye, bursting a blood vessel and scaring us all a bit. I did some reading online, and we decided he would wait until today (he is on his way in now) to see the opthmalogist before we leave this afternoon. OMG time is now nearly running out!! :hourglass

I had so much to do Monday ... that I decided to put it all on hold and get my nails done!! :p

I had so much going on last night ... that I decided to stop everything and get the surprises put together that we will be passing out to all of our DIS friends!!

Can you see where my priorities have gone!! ;)

Wish me luck!! :cheer2: I am off to pack, and get both DS haircuts, have the car washed (or I might have my kids do that), pay my registration and pick up last minute maps at AAA, go to bank for $$ (small bills), anything else I can think off ... then we leave at 6pm!! WooHoo :cheer2:

Look forward to catching up with everyone when I get back!! :wizard:
