11/15/09 Wonder

DH's Grandfather passed away last Thursday.

VERY sorry for yours and your DHs loss. :sad1:

It was very kind of your DH to get you a DS. They can be very handy for not only kids. ;) ;)

OK - extra magic hours. Off to MK - extra hours are 11 pm to 2 am & going to try to get up for extra magic hour at AK from 8 am to 9 am

Sorry for your lost Feenie!

Jill oh my I had a laugh reading your fire story. I told DH and he was :rotfl:
I hope you are having a wonderful time down there. Can not wait to see some wonderful pictures of WDW.

Wow can not believe we are down to 96 days and everyone is paid in :dance3:full!!!!!!!:cool1::woohoo::yay:

OK - extra magic hours are great.

Watched the fireworks at mk (up close) I see the higher part from the room.

Spectro Magic parade is still all that and a bag of doritos. Or is that chips:confused3

I was sitting on the curb - chatting with the people next to me (when you walk around by yourself - people want to talk more) - waiting for the parade. Maybe they feel sorry for me. The husband came back with ice cream for everybody - even ME. Now, that was sweet.

Was finally able to get on a ride without waiting. Five in fact +
Mickeys Philharmagic. NO LINE - NO WAITING. For example - it was the first time EVER got on Pirates Of The Carribean and didn't stop in the que. Haunted Castle - right in. Mind you, there were quite a few people & a few rides had lines. But, it was great.

No body could get up before 9 this morning - so missed magic hour - oh well.

Think I'll do the rest of epcot this morning.

Pictures - Pictures :rotfl2: There are soooooooooo many people you can't see anything. I could do better if I posted pics I took before. (you probably would enjoy them better) I did get a pic of my DGS & GF entangled sleeping.

Looking forward to the backstage tour & find out a lot of the secrets :3dglasses:thumbsup2

Changed my mind & went to the studios instead.

Walked in & 1st show was Indiana Jones, surprise was crowded but I got there just before the gates closed - whew.

Next, saw the muppet show & again just in time.

Had lunch. Was wandering around saw a show called D23. It was about Walt.
OMG. The tears just welled up and it was all I could do not to cry. While the film was running there was a live bug up on the screen.

I'm not a spring chicken so I was around when the mouseketers wasn't a rerun. When I was a kid I won a chance to see Disneyland - my parents wouldn't let me go. So I've been making up for it since - well just since.

I was on my way to Cali to meet my husband coming back from overseas when the news stated Walt had died. I had to pull over & cry. My 2nd daughter was born 9 months after that.

She's turned into a Mickey nut also. This weekend she is one of the top assistants on Magic Meets.

Came back to the room for a swim. Will go back later.

Hope I'm not boring anyone.

The other amusing (to me) thing is the key fobs are great. That little locater button is great. Press it from a pretty good distance & it will go "beep beep" "I'm here" "let's go".

Not boring me at all. :thumbsup2

So what's a "key fob"? I'm so out of it evidently. In fact, I didn't even know until a few weeks ago MGM was no more. When did THAT happen? We will always call it MGM despite what they call it now. My DH has a cute way of saying it so it folls off the tongue. HS will never roll off of any tongue.:snooty::tongue:

The "key fob" nothing to do with Disney.
That's what I call the device that comes with the car key. It locks/unlocks/the door & makes your horn beep. Some even unlock the trunk.

I know that I still have a problem with the new name of "Disney's Hollywood Studios". Even though it's had this "new" name since 2007.

Threatening to rain & thunder will wait until after dinner to go back to the park.

OH!!!! :rotfl2: Yes, they are quite handy if you forget where you parked! It's easy to forget which car is yours when you have a rental like we always do. So it has come in handy, a LOT.

They must have changed the name then right after our last visit. I think? Yeah, must have been because I remember the busses still had MGM in their window. huh

Have a great rest of the day ...dodging rain. :flower3:

Forgot to mention a funny yesterday.

Coming out of the haunted mansion, there was a group of young guys that were talking about how scary the ride was - All of sudden one of the haunted mansion castmembers jumped out from behind a pole. Let me tell you it scared the bejesus out of those guys. They all screamed.:scared1:

At Epcot a group called Petty Theft was playing tributes to Tom Petty - very good. The singer was Michael Furlong. they play mostly in Cali & Nev. (they have their own web site) They are in Fl from the 3rd to the 9th. He looks a lot like Tom Petty.

Isn't the internet great:hippie:

Oh, and the bunny the other day was a jackrabbit.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That would have been priceless to see at the Haunted Mansion! :rotfl2: Disney magic at it's finest!

That would have been GREAT to hear a Petty tribute band. Great name too. We were in JC Penny's today and my DS asked if the Petty song was "Freefalling". That's his favorite Petty song.

Bought a light collapsable soft sided cooler ($30 at Dick's and it's AWESOME!) for the trip and a waterproof box on a string about the size of a cigarette package to carry money and stuff in. Also got my son a strap for his glasses to keep them on his head in teh water as wella s it floats if they fall off. :thumbsup2 Starting to ramp up!

Stephanie, I would say you and I are dominating this forum. Sure hope more join. Or, maybe they are here & just lurking.

Anyway - Petty Theft played quite a few songs. I don't really remember if they played freefalling.

I see you are a planner. I also plan a lot of the stuff ahead, cothes, accessories and necessities. I even tried packing ahead one time. Unfortunately, had to unpack everything to make sure it was all there.

I'm off for a few hours.

Did the backstage tour the other day. I did one a couple of years ago & really enjoyed it. Thought it would be the same.
Wrong!
3/4 of it was different.
It was worth it.

Glad you are having such a great time! :goodvibes

Thanks - but, like all good things - they must come to a conclusion.
I leave for NJ in the morning.:sad2:

Not only will we be there in 3 months. One year from our cruise I am moving here & I plan on working in Disney so I can go whenever I want.:cool1:

If I fly in my car I bet I'll make a lot of money :lmao::rotfl2::thumbsup2:wizard:

:wave2:

Well, our first day at WDW is never spent in a park because we never get to the resort until noon or 1PM. Almost all of the time, we've been able to check in right away. I just hate to waste a day on my ticket on only 4 or 5 hours. BUT that's me. We've never had spare days on our tickets to use. Many people do. If I had an AP, I might hit a park.
That said, we usually head to Downtown Disney. SHOPPING!!!!! Love it! That is easy to do w/ a larger group. Then we head back to our resort or to wherever we have dinner ADRs. One thing, we always rent a car so it's easy to run from place to place. It's still easy by bus if you are doing resort to attraction. Not so much if you are going from resort to resort. At night, the adventurous can hit the Winter/summerland minigolf. I LOVE mini golfing in the dark! And that is the BEST mini golf course EVAH! Beautifully kept up and entertaining. LOTS of photo ops.

Where are you all staying?

Saturday morning I'll have my alarm set for 4:50AM to get online to make my ADRs for our couple days at WDW. MAN I'm glad they are bringing back the 180 day window. Unfortunately it doesn't help me now. :rolleyes1

So I have been here in spirit. Been working summer school but occasionally have checked the forum. So glad someone can be down there enjoying the WORLD...I am jealous! I just booked our meals for the 4 days prior to the cruise. we are staying at POP century...going a little bargainy but we are still psyched as any hotel seems to make us happy at Disney. I also booked the Mickeys Merry Christmas party for Nov 12th. I hope my boys like it. they will be turning 11 right after the cruise so I may be pushing it on them loving the parades and such but we thought it may be a great time to have the park to ourselves after 9:30...we will try to stay til midnight:)
Still waiting on passports:)

Well, I am on my way home. Stopped in Kings Dominion area then on home in the morning.
I won't be staying anywhere until the cruise is over. Then I will again stay at the Shades Of Green.
I managed to save one of my free park days + I will have my birthday free park day to use. (park hopper of course) that way I can hit all of the parks.
I will be extending to stay 3 days because the SOG is giving 1 free night stay if you book for 3 days. So this is a great year so far.

I don't try to plan exactly what I'm going to do until I get there - then I use my mood as a deciding factor as to what I will do first.
