11/15/09 Wonder

Well, just checked in to the Shades Of Green (Disney Resort Hotel For Military & retired military across from the Polynesian)

Drove down. Listened to Harry Potter. Made the trip much easier. They left sooo much out of the movie. It lasted the whole trip. In fact there are a few more chapters left.

Will be here 9 days.

My GS & his GF will be here tomorrow. Right now settling in.

It is 93 degress & humid and sunny.

Only had a touch of rain (so far).

Talk to you later need to settle in.

Now it's MY turn to be jealous! HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!

We wanted to stay there but DH doesn't qualify unfortunately. He was in the Navy for 6 years but that's not enough. :guilty: It looks NICE!

I need to listen to that one and the last one again. Jim is SUCH a great narrator. I know they left so much out but I just can't see how they would have been able to put more in. It was already almost 3 hours and I think the focus they spent on the romances were probably needed to lighten it up a little. IMO anyway. ;) Still, it was my favorite movie so far! Can't WAIT for the next 2. Bummed this movie isn't out on DVD until Dec. UGH!

I totally agree - the one thing I commented on upon leaving the theatre was they didn't emphasize why ____ was the half blood prince. Don't want to give anything away.

Will be listening to the last book on the way home.

I totally agree too. Him saying it at the end almost seemed like an afterthought. "OH, we need to tell people why the movie was named what it was." Kinda. I'm sure there are grand plans of course. Rowling wouldn't have let things slip by IMO. Or I'd hope. Then again, IMO, she left waaaay too many loose ends and unanswered questions in book 7. But on vell. :upsidedow

I'm not telling about Eileen Prince & that she is ______ Mom.:wizard:

And even though he loathed those that were not full bloods. And, he took the unbreakable vow. Whoops, is that too much info.:rolleyes1

You know what is a trip? no, what - no, what you say - talking to people about people in a book like they are real & others are listening. They are like what:confused3

Wow, what a night, while unpacking I've discovered my room looks out on the fireworks from magic kingdom. Now that's a first.

Also, watching rollerskating nationals on the web & some of the skaters from my club got placements.

And totally enjoyed the awesome freedance.

.

I'm honestly stoked you're having such a good time! :goodvibes Don't mind if I live vicariously through you for the next 9 days. And well, if you DO mind.... Come up to MN and kick my hiney! :dance3:

We're staying at the Poly for the 2 night prior to the cruise. What view did you pay for that you got the fireworks?!?! Didd you pay for taht view or did you luck out in a garden or the right lagoon view? Whjat bldg too? Inquiring minds want to know. Spill the poop scoop!:rotfl:

Well, I'm glad someone wants to hear my rantings. :thumbsup2

I'm not at the Polynesian, I'm at the Shades Of Green. You pass the Poly & make a right & a quick left.

The location of the rooms, pricewise, doesn't matter. They are all the same. We pay by our rank. It is an awesome place. Check out the web site.

I usually ask for what I call the old side. They call it the Magnolia building. It is the original side. They expanded a few years ago. The new side is taller & has more rooms. It is surrounded by Golf courses. (has a few alligators sometimes) I usually have a room at the back near the sports bar and the big pool. I'm still in the old side but not in the back. I'm on the Magic Kingdom side.

Also, by being military (retired) they have a five day free park pass which I will be taking advantage of.

Tomorrow morning I will go to morning rollerskating session and by the time that is over my GS &his GF should be here. He wants to buy the tickets 1st thing. I guess then will be when we decide where to go & when. He wants parkhopper passes.

So - good night for now. Have a magical day:wizard:

Oh for crying out loud! :headache: I knew that! Just a few posts back for Pete's sake! Never mind me. Can I go back and delete????? :rolleyes1 Nah, I won't just so the rest of the world can see how flakey I am. :thumbsup2
I for one tho want to hear all about it!
Are you the military or DH? Or both? And THANK YOU for your service! I make sure I express that as often as possible. :worship::hug:

Not a problem - sometimes I repeat repeat repeat myself.

I am retired military. 21 years, 3 mos & 19 days. I was in during Vietnam - in the Navy - that gave me my original veteran status.. There was a break in service. Came back in the 70's to the Army Reserve. Wanted to go to a military school the reserve wouldn't send me. Switched to the Army Guard. They sent me to school. Came back they hired me as a full time technician - after a few years doing that I went on active duty with the guard.

I am proud to have served.

My father was in the Navy in Vietnam as well. I'm drawing a blank on his ship, but it was a sister ship to my husband's which was the Coral Sea. My DH KNEW I was meant for him when he met my dad and they did the exact same job on sister ships just 20 years apart. ;) It also helped endear my dad to him immediately too. Don't know why he felt he ahd to tell him how difficult I was to live with and what a type A personality I am.:sad2: :rotfl2: Which I'm NOT and I actually had a counselor tell me to TELL him I'm not. And DH and I will celebrate 17 years of marriage in Sept as well as 20 years together next Spring. I couldn't be that bad. :rolleyes1

Just had to share. :goodvibes I'm so happy w/ how she turned out. She's about 3 inches high just for reference on scale. (I didn't sculpt more of it, only part of the mane and all of the tail, just painted it) THIS is how I finance my Disney addictions!

Hello All sorry I have not been around looks like I missed alot. Love the wonderful pictures!! Thanks for sharing them.

Jill I hope you are having a wonderful time can not wait to see some pictures. Thanks for serving for us!! My family is Navy. My grandfather and Uncle retired from Navy. My other Uncle my age is in Norfolk with the band. He loves it. He is thinking about retiring in about 6 years! Then I have a cousin who is Army National Guard. He served in Iraq and is home safe and sound for now! He was in the reserves when he went, but since then has gone full time! He is in the medical field.

Well it's almost time for me to go back to work:surfweb: and I can not wait for it. Yeah I know I'm crazy. :cheer2:I can not believe we are only :cool1:97 days away. Time sure if flying now. I wish it would go alittle :woohoo:faster!!!!

So how is everyone summer going? Jill we know you loving it down in WDW!!! :woohoo:

My summer has been uneventful!! Lets see DD16 got hurt at camp, but doing well now. Ddad had a knee replacement Monday and doing well he can not wait for Disney! DH had a :scared1:mini stroke, but doing ok he still having some pain on the left side and drs. trying to figure out why so because he is a truck drive they will not allow him back to work so he is really drivin me crazy:upsidedow and ds 8 has surgery end of the month to have a tube removed from his ear. So my summer is nuts!!!!

Well got to run now and get ready to take DH to doctors. Talk with you soon!!!

OK - Hi everyone & all that were away welcome back.:hippie:Yesterday I went rollerskating in the morning - a good session.
:goodvibes
In the afternoon there was quite a brief downpour - then the sun. so we went swimming.
:cloud9:
Last night was downtown disney. Pleasure island - what can I say - all of the clubs are there; but, they are closed as I'm sure everyone is aware. They had stilt performers in the courtyard & of course the restaurants & stores were open on the island. Going there with two in-love young adults is not exciting for a person like me just going for the sights & sounds. Just like in Harry Potter - a lot of snogging going on.:dance3:

Today after I got their cards activated I told them they were on their own.

Did Magic Kingdom this morning. Hot as hades here. Lots & lots of people & kids, kids, kids and more kids (lots of cranky ones, too):sad1:

Came back to the hotel to swim, went to the bathroom before going to the room. While sitting in there the fire alarm goes off. Now, that is not the time to hear the fire alarm while doing your business. I know TMI. Anyway, It's still going off when I got out of there. The amazing part is no-one seems to be in a hurry. They are leaving the hotel but sort of like oh well I guess we have to.:scared1:

That took about a 1/2 hr to 45 min. Finally the alarm just stops. Go to the room & the room attendant said it was in the kitchen.:yay:

This is getting to be quite a memorable trip in just little things. Not, disney things.

Going back to parks later on.:cool2:

More to come later. TTFN:hippie:

OK 2nd 1/2 of day.

Went to Epcot.

Only two things really were quite interesting.

1. A hawk seems to have made the top of the Epcot Ball it's home.

2. We all know ducks and squirrels are a common site. But lo & behold next to all of the ducks was a rabbit.

And finally, the temp went from in the 90's and humid
to the 70's and mild.

Sounds like an interesting day. ;) An alarm while on the ...well, you know , would be interesting. :scared1:

If I were down there right now, I'd be cranky like those you saw today. Heat and I don't mix well, Oil and water. We went to WDW once at eth end of Sept and I was 8 weeks PG. The combo of the heat and the PG made me a VERY unhappy gal. Hubby was a SAINT :littleangel: for putting up w/ me and I told him so. No more warm trips for me.

Only update for me is got an e-mail back form the DCL concierge that they are working on my requests. :goodvibes YAY!!! I didn't have many.

Can't wait for the oldest to go back to school. :thumbsup2 4th grade for him.

Also looking heavily into DVC and VERY excited to do it. I hope everything works out. We want to puyt ALL "spare" cash towards CCs so we can nearly get rid of them by the end of the year or at least, have plenty of room not to worry while on the trip. We LOVE to shop; yes ladies, my MAN likes to shop and he is NOT metrosexual :rotfl2: ; but find we buy less and less each time. Getting pickier I guess.

That's it for me. Kids have been amking me feel like Goldie Hawn in Overboard "buh buh buh buh buh". DH hasn't been home all week except to sleep :guilty: so I'm frazzled. Come on November! :cheer2:

3 months until we leave for San Diego and start our Vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been a long week and a half.
DH's Grandfather passed away last Thursday. We spent the weekend and Monday in Southern NH going to the wake/Funeral.
His Grandfather was 90 and Irish Catholic so had 14 kids and lived in the area for more than 65 years.... There were over 1,100 people that went through the recieving line at the wake.
I had never been to a Catholic funeral before, so it certainly was an interesting experience.

Tomorrow we head back down to Southern NH for my Grandmothers 80th birthday party. I'm sick of the car already.

Fortunatly DH suprised me with a Nintendo DS last night so I won't be so bored in the car and on all the long plane rides we have coming up.
What a guy. :goodvibes

All I can say is sorry for your loss - but - wow 1,100 people !!!!

I like driving rather than flying. I use my Ipod & listen to audiobooks - this makes the drive much better. Also, since I do the driving a nintendo wouldn't be a good idea.

I just booked the 7 hour backstage tour for WDW. Will be doing that on Monday.

Did 1/2 of animal kingdom this morning. Back for a swim.
