You can do as you choose but most of the things I have received in the past are Oriental Trading party favor, gift type things.

Ah, that helps. I thought it was more like $5 - $10 per person, like white elephant or secret santa type. At that rate, buying for everyone on the spreadsheet could get expensive fast! But if it's just $1 items, then no problems here (except having to fit them in the suitcase)!!

You talk about finding FE's .:yay: Every time I go to the store I buy something different . :woohoo: Nothing big or battery operated . Now what do we get for the older kids and adults?:scared1: I have a small suitcase just for the FE'S and it is filled. So yes we're all in the same boat (ship) :lmao: (Kim) ..... And this is for the girls. :cheer2: :cheer2: :yay: :yay: :dance3: :rockband: :dance3: :yay: :yay: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

Has anyone checked the fuel surcharge thread on DISBoard? I saved $209 by having DCL removed the fuel surcharge on our 11-day med cruise in 2010. More money for FEs for that trip I guess.

FE's and suitcase issues - I ship my items to the port. I did it on the Southern (before the restrictions began) and I did it again in October and it worked like a charm. Just depends on what you send but packages must meet the requirements at this point (size and weight mostly).

Yes, I've been following that thread too. Do you think we'll get any money back/OBC???

Are any fellow Canadians considering paying off their cruise earlier in light of the possibility of our dollar dropping further?!?!?!? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I need to discuss it with my DH but I'd love some feedback.

One more question for fellow Canadians - have any of you shipped a cruise package before?? glindamood, since you sent it from Michigan, how far in advance did you send your packages??

We spent a week at WDW before this last cruise and I shipped it the Friday we left - which was a week before our cruise. It went UPS so I knew that it would arrive, I had a tracking number and watched it.

I know little about customs and how long it would take to get through that process but after that, it should go normal. Since the sailing date is part of the address label and you allow for extra time, it should not be an issue.

It is snowing in Michigan! Oh happy day!

Hey Binky 1!

As another fellow Canadian the dollar is also worrying me. I am hoping the dollar will get better after we receive our income tax refund and then we will pay off the remaining balance! If not I will probably wait it out to see if it gets better in the summer. Should it ever get down to 10 or 15cents again I will probably pay off the balance right away! Lets hope it doesn't go up to 60 cents on the dollar again or We will have a hard time justifying spending all that money on a cruise:scared1: We may have to go to Mexico instead!

Sorry but I have to have ten posts to send hypermommy a pm to addess our website. This is number 3.:rotfl:

Vicky
I like your cute posts and mini appreciates the nanas
Hypa, where the heck are ya??

Where is she? :confused3 Did she go early?:rotfl: And without us!!! No say it isn't so. :lmao: Keep an eye out for her.:magnify: :worship:

Man, I'll tell you what... the days are passing so quickly these days! With Christmas and trying to get caught up on my designing and the office and .... arrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh :scared1: :scared1:

Ah yes, laundry and dishes - you think you're all done and then it begins again - it's enough to drive a mom to consume one of those great fruity beverages!!!

Now hang on a minute! No one told me I had to do laundry and dishes in return for a fruity beverage. I thought that's what I had kids for... so they could do the work?

I do really, really dislike this white stuff

Send it my way!!!! I wish, wish, wish we could get snow!!!!

We too will be going on this cruise. We will be going with our 10 year old daughter.

Hey there, hi there, ho there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome aboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do I dare say that it is going to be 76 degrees here today in Az??

Dare, dare... oh definitely dare! It was low 70s here yesterday. But I do wish we could get snow ;-)

Any other expert opinions out there?? Come on Hypermommy we need your sage advice!! :worship: :worship:

Like I know what I'm doing! LOL Actually, we've only been on the one cruise, but I can tell you what the FE stuff was then. Most of it (if not all) was the small party favor type stuff like you'd give out in a goodie bag at a kid's birthday party. I don't remember most of what we got but I do remember the "Christmas morning" type feeling we'd get when we come back to the room to find goodies in our FE.

I do remember what we gave out for FE stuff if that helps. We got a bunch of pirate themed stuff from Oriental Trading. There were little notepads with a skull and crossbones, little yo yos, pencils and mini beach balls. I took some ziplock baggies (okay... so I didn't craft it up... I was being lazy.. sue me) and put a couple of pencils, a yo yo, a notepad and a beach ball in each ziplock. Then I put the name of the person on the front of it (printed them off on labels with the graphic we were using for that cruise). I did a baggie for each person in the room (because I have two kids and have been a sibling and I didn't want some family's one child throwing another overboard to get his beach ball).

On pirate night morning I went around and delivered the stuff. I thought it was going to take longer than it did but I sorted the FE participants by room number and it actually went pretty quickly. I only did it that one morning but it worked out because everyone was kind of doing it at different times (not scheduled or anything... just how it worked out) and that meant that we'd often come back and find little surprises.

Hope that helps.

Remember - everything that comes out of the suitcase means more room for new stuff going home in that suitcase!!

Great thought!!!! KC, you're hearing this, right????? :rotfl2:

I haven't had a chance to check (heck, I can't even get over to THIS thread on a regular basis). I'll ask KC if he's checked ut what's going on with the fuel surcharge?

Hypa, where the heck are ya??

Guess I'm going to get coal in my stocking this year. I had no IDEA that it had been so long since I was on here. I had to go back THREE PAGES to find my last post. What a naughty, naughty girl I've been! I can only ask in this season of love and joy and brotherhood and good will towards men that y'all save a little of that goodwill for a hypermommy who is just far too interested in too many things in life and can't seem to find time to do them all.

Oh, and one more thing.... I've just recently gotten into facebook. (yeah, I know... another draw on my time). Any of y'all on there? If so, look me up, please. My name on there is Denise Duggan. Actually, that's my legal name everywhere but I think Hypermommy's so much more descriptive of who I really am, don't you?

Oh and something else... my guys finally got themselves on our cruise board. NC_Monkey, both of my guys posted on the thread you started. Hope to see you back there when you can (listen to me... asking someone to check a board... something about a pot and a kettle should be said here, but for the life of me I can't remember what). And KC posted a thread about picking up some cigars and enjoying them together. Maybe some of the hubbies would enjoy that? Let's see... November's football season... surely there'll be a game on somewhere that the boys can enjoy with a beer and a good see-gar!

Oh, and I checked the spreadsheet..... only one other person has added their name and that's all they added (i.e., no more kids, no more FE numbers, no more pirate night numbers, none of that). So none of the spreadsheet info has changed.

And now I must leave some love for my babies! Can't wait to get those hugs!!!
:lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc  :lovestruc

Now I think that catches me up. Did I forget anything? Okay, good. Now I'll gingerly turn and present my backside for the wet noodle whipping to begin.

Where is she? :confused3 Did she go early?:rotfl: And without us!!! No say it isn't so. :lmao: Keep an eye out for her.:magnify: :worship:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
You and I were apparently posting at the same time. But I like the idea of me leaving early! Maybe I'm out stowed away on the ship right now. Ahhhh.. .now that's a good idea.

You may have all of our snow Denise. It is up to the seats on the deck chairs as of the day before yesterday - too dark when I got home last night to tell but there was MORE this morning. And, it is now in the teens temp wise so snowy and cold.

Well, TGIF -   ! This is the weekend to get the tree up and house decorated. Youngest DS has a soccer banquet tomorrow night so DH and I will head to Alma about 4:00 so I will have to get cracking. Maybe tonight if my favorite Christmas movie isn't on again - I just love Polar Express, I can get started.

Hypermommy, glad you're back! I'll send you a friend request on Facebook - my real name is Lisa (Marechal).

glindamood, it's supposed to snow here all weekend - probably the stuff you're having now. That's alright - good excuse to stay inside and put up the rest of the Christmas stuff. :santa: :santa:

No school today because it is a professional development day for the teachers so I'm taking DD8 out shopping while DD3 is at pre-school. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Just wanted to pop in and let you know we're also considering doing a white elephant as it might be a good icebreaker for that first day meeting. I forget who's organizing that (it's in my notes somewhere, but I'm having to sneak time at work so I can post this). Anyway... just wanted to let you know.

Oh, that sounds soooooooo wonderful! All we're getting is cold (well, 53 is cold for us) and overcast with a bit of rain this morning. Boring and bummer! :sad1:

Hypa Good to see you back, sent you a request on facebook. Jeff is interested in the see-gars. KC will have to tell hime where to go (I like to do that) and get them.

Binky Lisa I looked you up on facebook but it listed a US city and state instead of Canada......

FE gifts I loooovvveee them. Got a lot of mine at the dollar store. Can my white elephant be alcoholic???
