11/14/09 - Special Western - 2 CC stops PART2

Does anyone know if DCL cancels excursions if it rains? We're signed up for the Seven Mile Beach Break in Grand Cayman, but according to the weather forecast, it's supposed to be raining that day. I hate to pay for the excursion and not truly be able to enjoy it...and I know DCL says you have to cancel 3 days before the cruise. We were still making final decisions about a Cozumel excursion, but were considering the Ruins and Beach tour or just the Beach Break. Again, might not be enjoyable in the rain. I'm wondering if I should just cancel them and then make decisions on each port day. What do y'all think?

We loved MVMCP when we went last year and thought it was totally worth it. The lines were low and the fireworks were awesome. I actually have tickets for us for the party on Friday but my son is sick now  so I don't know if we'll be able to go. I wish now I hadn't bought the tickets in advance since they are non-refundable. I'm just praying we can still go on the cruise.

So sorry to hear this. I hope he feels better soon!

PAGE TWO!!

Not when we're only 4 days away!

It looks like things are quieting down as everyone heads down here. I'm already starting to do laundry in preparation for packing on Friday and leaving WDW on Saturday. I'd feel really bad about that, except we're heading to this big ship in Cape Canaveral. Any of you heard of it? :lmao:

We had a terrific time at Epcot yesterday. The girls just loved Kim Possible. We managed to finish all but 2 missions before we had to leave. DH and I had dinner at Shula's Steakhouse last night to celebrate my 51st birthday and our 14th anniversary. It was awesome! Tom had the filet and I had a Kansas City Strip. To die for!! The service was absolutely impeccable. And we finally had a chance for some adult time because the girls were in Camp Dolphin during dinner.

Today we went to Wet-n-Wild and practically had the park to ourselves. It totally rocked! We were able to walk onto each and every ride. It was such a nice change from our park commando touring mode. There was no touring plan, no sense of urgency to get to the next attraction.

Here is the link to our World Showcase pics from yesterday. No pics at the water park today - I left the camera at home because I knew I would not carry it around the park. http://family.webshots.com/album/575465481nBEkQm

It looks like you are all having a wonderful time! If you have time could you by chance let me know how long it takes to do a mission? The boys really want to do this but I am not sure if we can make it on time.

Well we leave tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Hope everyone has a safe journey!

Well, Mousemom11, sounds like you are having a great time. And, mmm, maybe I'll take a cruise this weekend too - want to join me??

Rookiemouse, My faith in Canada Post has been restored...tracked the package today and it has arrived in Orlando. Now here's hoping it makes it onto the ship.

Well, I managed to pack everything into 1 big suitcase and 1 small suitcase - 43 lbs and 34 lbs respectively. That's right - 4 people - 11 days - 2 suitcases. My friends have asked me if I will be partially nude for the cruise and since I don't want to burn anyone's retinas, I have said NO. Now here's hoping that my DH has been able to wash some of the laundry he is bringing back from Sweden or he'll be on underwear rotation - I know, I know, too much information.

So 3 more sleeps for us - woohoo :banana::banana::banana:.

Have a great evening everyone!!!

Lisa

Each mission takes place within one country at Epcot. I would say they average about 15 minutes. Safe travels to you!

Sure!! Why not, the more the merrier!!!

ME TOO!! I want to come along....

Well I am officially on vacation now:woohoo:..so just spending day with kids tomorrow then on thursday will pick up mother in law from amtrak (she is staying with the kids) Thurs night we head to Bismarck, and fly out on Friday morning at 8:00.:yay:

Getting so close now...one week from today we will be at Grand Cayman...anyone hear more about the weather?

I think it depends more on how hard it's raining. I know that last time I cruised Western with Disney we couldn't put in at Grand Cayman at all, so they cancelled the excursion with no penalty. And then later that trip they cancelled the glass-bottom boat tour at Castaway Cay - again, no penalty.

Can you believe it's really almost here? We did our finaly (yeah, right) store stop today. Tomorrow is laundry, Thursday is packing and Friday morning at some unheard of hour (4:30am!), we head to the airport. But have you ever noticed it's very easy to get up early for vacation - but oh, so hard for work...

I am proud to report that we are packed and ready to go! Tomorrow morning we leave and arrive in Orlando in the evening. I officially HATE packing!
Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday, earlier if any of you are at POFQ for the next days...

Binky, how the heck did you pack for 4 in 2 suitcases? We have 3 large, 2 small, 1 car seat carrier for DD's booster seat, and carry-ons for all! I think the FE stuff took up a whole lotta room...and I even sent a box.:scared1: I think I may have overpacked...HA!

Good night friends!

I didn't see if anyone had noted this info yet

Here are the movies playing on the Magic
Bolt 3D
Race to Witch Mountain
Christmas Carol 3D
Surrogates with Bruce Willis
G Force 3D

Also the terminal is already decorated for Christmas
they will be putting up decorations on the boat the whole time we are underway---YIPPPIIEEEE

Finally I checked the weather on my addiction the Iphone it looks clear for Sunday in the Bahamas lets keep our hopes up!!!

It sure is quiet around here now. It's almost like everyone's getting ready for some big event.

I got curious about the weather forecast so I went out to weather.com. Not sure if I'm right about the exact locations but this might help someone so I figured I'd post it.

Andros Town, The Bahamas (hopefully close to CC)
Sun Nov 15 Partly Cloudy High 84° Low 75° Rain Chance 20%
Fri Nov 20 Scattered T-Storms High 85° Low 75° Rain Chance 40%

George Town, Cayman Islands
Tue Nov 17 Partly Cloudy High 84° Low 79° Rain Chance 20%

Cozumel, Mexico
Wed Nov 18 Showers High 78° Low 67° Rain Chance 40%

Ummmm.... doesn't that look yummy?

And in other great weather related news, Ida has fizzled! Looks like my guys will have a nice dry time to load/unload stuff and for driving. I'm so glad to hear that!!! Guess the hurricanes are still scared of King Charming! (yes, I know it's God, but it's still fun to remember that's what we told the kids last time)

Wow! I am impressed. I'm trying to convince my DH that 2 large and 2 small is not that much, people will be bringing more. I better not let DH read this :)

I am with you all. The kids are in a frenzy, we have half days today and tomorrow for parent/teacher conference and we leave on Friday. I'm so excited I can't sleep! I disboard, watch dcl promo video, travel channel dcl episode (again!), day dream....

OH GEEZZ, you guys are making me feel bad. I thought I was doing spectacular by getting it all in 2 bags for each of us (6 total) Of course one whole bag is nothing but FE stuff, so that will be empty on the way home...I hope.
My boy is not excited enough:confused3. I guess 4 yr olds have no time perspective. Tomorrow could be a year from now for all he knows. I guess I shouldn't have started getting him excited 18 months ago!!
Cant WAIT to see you guys in a few days:woohoo:

See you all on the ship. We are flying down this afternoon to Orlando.

No talk of rain please. We have had enough of it this year in the North East.

It has been quiet around here. Safe travels to all traveling. Hope the rest who have started their vacation are enjoying. I finished my FE stuff :cool1:
The last one I just completed was a labor of love. I decided to try something somewhat crafty. I hope you all will enjoy. Don't know how much space they'll take up. Looks like quite a bit. I'll start packing tomorrow. We're leaving Saturday morning hopefully by 7. Can't wait to see everyone.

Use us as an example to your DH. We have 5 checked suitcases for the 4 of us plus 6 carryons (2 of which are medically related). Of course, we were packing for 3 1/2 weeks. :rolleyes1

No worries. Yesterday and today were supposed to be rainy, but it only rained last night. The clouds have been breaking up today and it's now mostly sunny. It's supposed to remain sunny through at least the weekend, so we are golden here in Orlando. :thumbsup2
