Help!
Can we claim the interest we paid on our "home" on our income taxes? I am confused as to where I would deduct them. I can't actually use it on mortgage interest paid because it is not secured by a home. Can anyone help?

You should check with your own tax advisor to be certain.

If the financing was done thru DVC and you don't have another vacation home, you can probably deduct the interest paid on the DVC mortgage. If you purchased resale and have a loan NOT secured by the property itself, you may not be able to deduct the interest paid. If it's financed with a Home Equity loan (or second mortgage on your home) you will probably be OK.

Better check with your tax advisor to get advice specific to your personal situation.

Good luck!

When are the 1098s mailed out? This is the last piece we need then we can E-File & start planning our next trip home!

I received mine yesterday. It was postmarked January 28.

I received all 7 of mine yesterday. My accountant deducts them, I think it goes under vacation home, but don't quote me on that.

I got my 1098 for interest two days ago.....

I had to look to find my annual dues statement to find property taxes though... and....

I was suprised when I saw that new May SSR members only had to pay $.44 in property taxes last year......

That 44 cents not dollars and I did call to confirm that.

Every year we wait and wait for this piece! We get all of our other stuff and then we're stuck waiting for DVC's piece for what seems like forever...maybe it's just us :confused3
