101 Ways My Son Entertained Himself at WDW--The Last Day--New 11/18

:rotfl: Sorry! :flower3: On your way to chemistry? where do go for that?
my neighbor has been homeschooling since her 2 were in 3rd and 4th grades. they are in 9th and 11th now, she signed them up this year for a online christian school. it sounded pretty neat, but its a little expensive. i think she works half days now at a bank,,,
gotta go make some soup, its freezing up here. then gotta work at the Package Store tonite from 5-10...I would like to squeeze in a nap also! :goodvibes
B takes Chemistry from a lady in our homeschool group. The lady is a single, homeschooling mom. It makes me happy to help her make ends meet and I don't do Chemistry half as well as she does. She's wonderful! :lovestruc
I've tried to think what I want to do now that B will be in 6th grade next year. It's hard to do it all (and do it well) with such a huge gap in the kids ages. She doesn't want to go to a co-op here, so I may look into more outsourcing or on-line things. We'll see.
We also have scouts today, so I'll have to leave about 2p.m. to get my coffee on the way!

I already had my nappy :upsidedow

but I'm still in my jammies :sad2:

I just felt like lazing around today and I refuse to get dressed until I have to get ready for work this evening.

Gotta love those lazy days
Lucky ducky!
I would love to do a jammies day, but the kids tend to not want to do school much when I'm not strict about getting dressed and coming to school by 8. We'll see. We have somewhere to be everyday but Mondays, though. :headache:

It is nice to hear about all the activities you are doing while homeschooling. So many think we lock our kids in the basement and never let them out!! In our homeschool group, we also have a mom that teaches Chemistry. It is wnderful. My teenager does a monthly arts and crafts lesson with the younger kids (there are about 15 kids who sign up all between the ages of 4-10) and another teen is doing a battle reinactment of the civil war later this month where he will direct the younger children, help them prepare for battle. Of course they will use nerf guns but they will learn while having a good time. Its really neat when I see the older kids in our group working with the younger ones. I always enjoy watching them together.

Trust me, if we could afford not to have the second paycheck DH is a teacher and we would homeschool in a second! I couldn't do it, I don't think I will make past 2nd grade math:rotfl2:

That is so nice to see. It seems like in homeschool groups age isn't as big of a deal. The "big kids" play with my "little kid" all the time and don't tell him to hit the road.
We do scouts, PE, Chemistry, dance, baseball (starting in Feb) and I'm signing my 6 yr old, C, up for art starting Feb 1st too. It's nice to have it all done before dad gets home too! :thumbsup2

Don't go blaming me!!!!! BTW Soarin is the one that may not work :thumbsup2
It did for us. More than once, too.

It's definantly hard to only have one income. Why do you think we haven't gone to Disney in 11 years? We struggled for years and we're finally almost completely debt-free.

Oh, Janet, you could do it. I'm sure you could teach at least 3rd grade! :lmao:
Seriously, though, I am learning stuff all over again. I didn't enjoy it the first time like my kids do, that's for sure.

I always find it interesting when public school teachers say they'd homeschool. I find that a lot actually. :guilty:

If it wasn't true I'd be insulted:rotfl2:

Jimmy is going to Catholic School in September, there is no way I would send him to public school here in Philly:scared1:

I agree. We also do soccer and swim team. It is nice to be done early and have the evenings to spend together.

It is hard to be a one income family. We are also debt free (finally) and usually use our income tax refund to fund vacations.

I also learn with my children at times, my 11 yo dd volunteers at a vet and just last week I learned how to neuter a cat, trust me, I didnt know the first thing about that before she started explaining the process. I also have relearned alot of stuff that I should have remembered from school, lol.

Eeek! :scared1: I don't even want to talk to my kids about their own parts, much less what happens when a cat is neutered! Our puppy was snipped in December, poor little guy. :scared:
That's cool that she has an interest and can help at the vet to find out before she decides if it's the thing she wants to do with her life.
When our debt is paid off, I told hubby that I don't want a bigger house or better car, I want to give my kids options by letting them take different classes and seeing what they love. I want to invest in their future, you know?

If it wasn't true I'd be insulted:rotfl2:

I tease. My mom said She didn't know how I was going to teach my DD when I wasn't such a good student myself. Thanks, Mom... :sad2:

But, Janet, what about the Fresh Prince of Bell Aire? West Philadelphia, born and raised... Now he's a mega super star with cute kids, lots of money and a sweet wife! :rotfl2:

Hi Dawn, I just read your last 2 updates:thumbsup2

I'm so glad to me able to put a face with a name:goodvibes

I love Soarin isn't that the greatest ride:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

After reading yours and V's trippies I am going to have to give Sunshine Seasons another chance.

What a good Disser you were for being first, this is January 2nd? What were the crowds like?

Next we headed over to Turtle Talk with Crush. We were in the holding area for the first show. Score!

We waited in line for Mr. Ray’s Pop Quiz while some lady with 4 girls let her kids do the quiz over and over, ignoring the line behind them. She was standing right there watching as they played and played. The little girls in front of us, couldn’t even read and kept picking various languages and had no clue what she was doing. I am so not a confrontational person AT ALL, so I mustered up all my courage and said to the mom, “Do you think maybe we could have a turn next? I mean, when your girls are done?” Nice, huh? I was totally seething underneath at the rudeness of the lady and her girls and that was all I could get out. Too bad I didn’t have Mo and her New Jersey attitude with us! :thumbsup2 A few more minutes passed before she pulled her kids away from the computers.
Finally! It’s our turn! The kids did well, no doubt in part to my excellent teaching skillz!

We talked about the different swimming friends, and got lined up to go in the show. C and A were brave enough to go down front and sit with the kids. B, K and I all ended up in the back on the end of a bench. This show was certainly a favorite of our family. I was amazed how Crush can interact with the “humans in the human tank”. It’s so funny to hear the kids laugh at all his answers too.
Remember how I said C gets noticed a lot? Guess who the turtle with the pink shell was? Yep- C. She was brave and said her name. Then, it happened.
We heard Crush asking C’s “parental units” to hold their hands up. K nudged me and said something about her not being scared anymore. We thought that was the end of it, but it wasn’t.

Soon we heard Crush asking to talk to the parental unit with the shiny shell! He said, “Yeah, that dude’s thinking right now, ‘No way I thought I was gonna talk to a turtle today!’” We were cracking up as K talked to Crush. He told him his name, and that we have 3 little shells. Crush said, “Yeah, I have 78.” I totally wish I had my camcorder out. It was fun to see K be embarrassed.
Poor K will never live down being called “the guy with the shiny shell.” What a blast!

When that was over, we walked around and looked at the displays of fish for a few minutes. Look who we saw! Dory! Just keep swimmin’…

A diver was ready to go up into the tube, and the kids had a front row spot. That diver was such a jokester. We liked him, but we had to leave before the show was over so I could find out where the Coral Reef was. Too much to do!

Time to shop! I’m sure I mentioned this in the PTR, but we are studying Sea Life this year. Of course I had to look in the shop and buy this really cool book that has the bones of all the fish. It has cool facts on each page too. I was impressed that the book was the same as on the cover, not marked up. Thank you, Disney! :cloud9:

Now, where is that restaurant?! :confused3

Excellent! We've never done Crush. It looks gud. ::yes::

That's a great area to hang out in. I don't see the patented picture of the kids in the Sharks Mouth? Everyone gets that shot! :confused3

There's a tour you can do where you swim with the dolphins and for a little extra money, you're allowed to slay one, then filet it and eat it. It's hardly ever talked about.

First! :lmao:
Today, I will start to reveal my kids' real names. Janet has been first twice lately, so she can pick one kid and I will reveal his/her name. Then whoever is first today can pick one, and tomorrow I will reveal the last kiddo's name.

I will continue to call then A, B, & C because I'm lazy like that. But I thought it would help to have names for them, and clear up that that Buzz thinks they are nicknames. :sad2:

So, who will it be, Janet? Oldest, youngest? The middle child? :surfweb:

I love Turtle Talk with Crush. :yay: That is the cutest show ever. I just wish I knew how they did it.

I can't believe you're first... Geez. :sad2: Nice to see you pulled yourself away from Guitar Hero III, though.
Ack! I forgot about that picture! I didn't see the shark. Where is it? I wish we had more time to spend in the Seas. Next time...

Oooh....Buzz is starting trouble over here with the dolphin thing. We'll see how that goes over.

I think there was some info on how it was done on the behind the scenes show on the Travel Channel. If you haven't seen it, the play it regularly.
Thanks for reading! :cutie:
