101 Ways My Son Entertained Himself at WDW--The Last Day--New 11/18

Hello, all! I'm feeling slighty human-ish now. Thanks for the well wishes, welcome to anyone new, I was totally lost with the fern thing, and let's get on with the update, shall we? I just typed out three, so at least this week is covered and you should all be happy!
Enjoy!

Glad you are starting to fell better Dawn:hug:

I added a picture of MGM's Christmas tree and the lights on Sunset Blvd. to the TOT, not all Fluff and games post. You can find it by using my handy dandy links in my first post. :surfweb:

We must have posted at the same time:goodvibes BUt I am still first:woohoo:

In the morning, I was up and out of the shower before the wake-up call came. A was supposed to answer, but he didn’t want to, so I held the phone to his ear. He grinned when he hear Stitch yell at him to wake up! (BTW- Later in the week, we figured out it would be more fun to hit the speaker button and let everyone hear the message.) :thumbsup2

Jimmy loved this every morning. :goodvibes

Since everyone seemed interested in our sleeping arrangements, K and I slept with a little kid each (DD6 for me and DS5 for him) and DD10 got the trundle. Full size beds for Full-sized people, not so good. I didn’t sleep well at all because I was so worried C would roll off the bed, or I might crowd her. With that trundle under the bed, the beds at POR are quite tall!

At Pop we put the 2 chairs from the table by the one side of the bed and then Jim or I slept on the other side of Jimmy. Worked great!:thumbsup2

I had packed some Special K bars, Go Tarts, etc. and that’s what we had for breakfast Wednesday. At home I normally drink coffee every morning, but I had heard it was nasty at WDW. So I brought some of my own. I was too busy every morning to make it though. So, I guess I broke my morning addiction on our trip.

We kept granola bars and yogurt for the morning. Jim is a huge coffee person and he says Disney's coffee is AWFUL!

I know I wrote things got worse before they got better, but I guess it would be more accurate to post, they weren’t very good in the morning, until after opening, then they got great, then okay and by night were awful. That’s more accurate, I think. :sad2:

Cranky kids in the morning is NOT a good thing:hug:

See? I did learn something from all my DISing!

Great Pic:thumbsup2

First at the turnstile!!!
Do you see my eyes watering because I’m so cold? :guilty: Something happened overnight and it was so cold that morning. The forecast said 50, so I thought gloves (for the kids) and jackets were in order with long sleeves and pants for everyone. I should note that we only had one cold weather set of clothes, because that’s what the weather said when we left.

I remember talking to my mom right after you left and she told me they were having a cold snap. :sad2:

Another CM asked C if she wanted to help him do something, but she was too shy. I could have cried! Some other random kid got to help open the park because my C was just too shy. Poor girl. Poor Mom. :sad2:

Maybe next time. The CM's at POP asked Jimmy if he wanted to help open the pool when we were there. He was shy too and didn't want too. I was disapointed, but got over it. I don't want to push him to do anything he is uncomfortable with.

Great update. Can't wait to hear morepopcorn::

I'm glad that you are feeling better and are working on the TR again.

It is too bad that it was chilly for you all, but hey you are still at Disney!

Great character shots from the opening ceremony.

Yeah! You're first! If you keep this up, you may pass my other two biggest fans!!! :rotfl2:

At Pop we put the 2 chairs from the table by the one side of the bed and then Jim or I slept on the other side of Jimmy. Worked great!:thumbsup2
Good idea! :thumbsup2

Cranky kids in the morning is NOT a good thing:hug:
Nope. Not good at all. but you'll see, this is a theme for A. He's a cranky boy. Sorta like Donald Duck. :donald: :rotfl2:

I remember talking to my mom right after you left and she told me they were having a cold snap. :sad2:
I remember reading that. It was so windy too. Yikes! :headache:

Great update. Can't wait to hear morepopcorn::
Thanks!

I'm glad that you are feeling better and are working on the TR again.

Me too! I bet I'm back to normal by Wednesday. :cutie:

It is too bad that it was chilly for you all, but hey you are still at Disney!
Said the Canadian... :lmao: I'm teasing.
We southern Texans don't do cold. :snooty: I guess cold in Disney is better than cold at home. :headache:

Great character shots from the opening ceremony.
Thank you very much.

 Very true, while I would not be happy about it being 50 while I am at Disney it still would have been a heck of a lot warmer than up here!

:wave2:HI!! Glad your feeling better, :goodvibes The picture of you and the kids outside the turnstiles is very nice, Sorry it was cold. I had no idea that the parks did a big rope drop opening until just very recently! I did not know the characters came out at EPCOT, or that MGM did a little show until I read Buzzes latest REAL update! I only thought MK did that song and dance thingy at the start! And we`ve been 3 times!!
I love pictures of Minnie! Shes my favorite!!

I'm so proud of you young Padawan. :yoda: You were FIRST at the turnstiles!! Your DIS training has served you well. ::yes::

A cold day in Disney is better than a warm day anywhere else (That Phrase is Trademarked by the ~~ The Man Report ~~ Corporation.

That's too about about "C" being too shy to open the park. My kids would have been too shy also.

Oh, and if didn't mention it before... Kudos on those well-thought-out nicknames for children! :thumbsup2

:sad2:

Stitch yell at him to wake up! (BTW- Later in the week, we figured out it would be more fun to hit the speaker button and let everyone hear the message.) :thumbsup2
Good idea. I think my teen kids would end up slapping me in the face with their pillow.:rotfl: DD, does not do mornings. Ooohhhhh, I so have to do this on our trip in Sept. I love to aggravate her.:rolleyes1 So I am giving you a heads up now. If I have a black eye in any of my pictures for my TR, you'll know the reason.:rotfl:

Great pics of the opening ceremony!

Too bad about C being too shy :guilty:

I know you're all saying a cold day in WDW is better than anywhere else but that would not be my idea of a vacation. :sad2:

 Very true, while I would not be happy about it being 50 while I am at Disney it still would have been a heck of a lot warmer than up here!
There's no way it was 50 even. Brrrr! :upsidedow

I didn't know all that either before I found the DIS.
Minnie's a cutie. :cutie:

Why, thank you. :lmao:

Have you actually been there when it was under 50 and the winds were whipping? 'Cause then we'll talk. Of course, you're a dad, so the kids don't drive you crazy complaining, they tell mom, right? ;)

That's too about about "C" being too shy to open the park. My kids would have been too shy also.
Sounds like our kids are very similiar. You'd think with all the teasing and joking in our family, they would be tougher, but nope. :confused3

Oh, and if didn't mention it before... Kudos on those well-thought-out nicknames for children! :thumbsup2
I didn't think it up, it's their initials. First B, then C, then A. That's their birth order... :cutie:

Oh no! Don't blame me! But I will chuckle thinking of the morning torture! I love to mess with my kids too. It's payback, baby!

Thank you.
She'll redeem herself soon.
It certainly wasn't ideal. :sad2:

Hey Hs,I think I'm a little lost,I just started getting email again for threads, did the name change here? Oh well, enjoying your last 2 pages so far-I think you were down around the same time we were? from the 5-19 for us......I'll start re-reading now!
One thing we learned,do NOT trust accuweather on this trip!:lmao: the one day we checked the net for weather,it was all wrong for the next 3 days, and sort of screwed up our plans, but what can you do....
NOw you know the true disney secret,ALWAYS be prepared for a cold snap in winter- we had some cold days too,and were totally bundled, but I know what you mean- it's not as much fun as a nice day
I'm sad b/c I totally forgot the wakeup call in the a.m.,poor little ds........
loving your pics, and stories, hey,my big story of the trip was a stolen wallet, had to get back on a plane with no photo ID!
Dh had a cold the instant we got back(he swears he knows which kid coughed on him in the bus:laughing: )
ok,I'll be quiet now and listen to your story-thanks for sharing it!

ok-instead of grocery shopping,I've been reading up on your reports,thanks a lot!:rotfl2:
sorry about your harsh return to reality,we all feel it when we leave.......it's what keeps us coming back.....
on TOT,don't worry,ds14 will still NOT go on that ride, though ds8 loves it- I hate it too!
We used to pay ds14 a dollar if he hated a ride.....he sucked us dry for a while;)
now I have to return to my real life, and hit that grocery store before we all starve!
at least I've got one kid working on penmanship while i read......

Ok, I'm confused on days now, but was your epcot day Wednesday the 2nd or Thursday the 3rd? Iirc, the big cold snap started on the 2nd (our travel day), but I thought that was your travel day, too? So confused!!! But, does this mean you aren't following your original itinerary? This means maybe we were both at Epcot the same day???

Let's just say, I was very, very glad we had brought our winter coats...

Oh, and btw, I brought my favorite Trader Joe's coffee with me. I didn't get enough of it most mornings (also brought a travel mug, lol!), so I did end up drinking Cokes at lunch most days, which I hardly ever do.

Yes, I changed my title when I switched it over to t a TR instead of a PTR.
I wish I woldn't have been so concerned about the amount of suitcases and packed winter wear for everyone! :sad2:

Go to the grocery store! :lmao: It's hard to go back to doing those tasks, isn't it?
I always have the kids sitting here doing work while I DIS. Otherwise, I would just stare at them... very boring. :teacher: :rotfl2:

Our original travel day was the 2nd, but it was moved to the 1st later in our planning. We were at Epcot on the 2nd.
I could go for some coffee right now... I'm still not 100% and I could use a nap, but I just can't stand to be behind on school or anything, so I press on. <<hack, hack>>

Oh great tip! Can u pick who you want to wake you up? Minnie or Tink would be nice!

Since everyone seemed interested in our sleeping arrangements, K and I slept with a little kid each (DD6 for me and DS5 for him) and DD10 got the trundle. Full size beds for Full-sized people, not so good.
Yeah, kinda worried about that one.....BA is getting the trundle (if we get one) and either me and Ab or me and Daran. May change nite to nite.:confused3 Not worried about falling off tho unless I kick him really hard! :lmao:

First at the turnstile!!!
Do you see my eyes watering because I’m so cold?
Ok--packing extra stuff. check.:thumbsup2

Some other random kid got to help open the park because my C was just too shy. Poor girl. Poor Mom. :sad2:
:sad2: I often wish they'd just let us moms who are jumping up and down to the really cool stuff!

Glad you're getting some better!

I’m not surprised at all that C was asked to help. There’s just something about her. People are drawn to her. Everywhere we go people stop me and tell her she’s got beautiful eyes or isn’t she so cute. It’s wonderful for her self-esteem, not so much for my other two kids who stand there waiting to be told they are cute too. And, if you ask me, they’re pretty darn cute too! :cutie:

I talked to C after she wouldn’t help out, and just told her, “See? That wasn’t scary. That little boy just counted down the opening. That’s what they wanted you to do. It’s very special to be picked, so maybe next time you can try it?” She nodded.

As the rope dropped, we followed the crowds to Soarin’. All I got to say is, “Thank goodness for the CMs for Soarin’!” I totally didn’t know where I was going. I had no idea it was inside a BUILDING! Geez! :confused3

We walked right on, of course, not following TGM’s advice to grab a Fast Pass before riding. When we were lined up to ride, we got front row, baby!

The ride was by far our favorite (you know, compared to TOT). When we went over the river, we kicked at the heads people in canoes. When we went over the citrus fields, I asked C if she smelled the oranges. She said, “Smells like Fruit Loops to me!” When we went over the slopes, we pretended to ski along. The kids shrieked with excitement when they saw Tinkerbelle and the fireworks were so cool. Family bonding all wrapped up in one little ride… :grouphug:

When we exited, we grabbed Fast Passes for 11:45-12:45. Hubby was worried about the times clashing with our ADR for lunch, but I waved off his silliness with a giggle. Didn’t he know that Disney Jo swears you can use your pass any time after the comeback time? Silly, silly man. :sad2:

The kids were hungry and Sunshine Seasons was right there. Apparently my plan of eating breakfast in the room, wasn’t going so well. We ended up with 3 chocolate croissants, fruit salad, water, OJ, 2 apple juices and 2 bananas. We used 6 snack credits and paid for the Apple juice and bananas. There’s no way I was going to waste 4 snack credits on $5 worth of food!

Next we headed to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. We took the picture by the sign, but everyone was cranky with how cold there were, so we hurried in. The clam shells were a total walk-on. We had a blast on that ride. C clasped my leg a lot when it was dark- probably leftover fear from TOT. :headache:

Nemo.jpg

Next: The turtle with the pink shell :cutie:

Look at me, posting queen! I posted another update for my Mega fan, TE! :lmao: She just couldn't give up the dream that I would post every day, so I thought I would post one a day through Thursday just for her. :sad2:
So, enjoy and I'll see you again tomorrow with another update!

Loving your report so far! Can't wait to hear more. You and your kids look SO cold that morning!!!
