As you read from the subject, that was what the chat was about on the news. About Mission Space. I was just at Epcot yesterday coming from MGM and I finally rode the darn ride because I wanted to at least say I was on it. Well no one has lied yet about the ride, it is stupid, it is boring, it is pointless, and it is a waste of a ride. I think Disney has finally nailed themselves to the wall, they feel so invincible that any ride will attract tourists to it. Not the case. There was actually a longer line for test track than mission space. Of course test track is totally awsome and not that old, but I find it very odd how a brand new ride wouldn't be crowded with anticipating tourists. I now understand why. I went up and saw it was 75 min. to get on or 60 min. single. Since I was going alone on this one I said eh 60 min. isn't bad, I'll do it. What was hilarious is I walked all the way up the the front in less than 8 sec. because there was no singles in that line. So I go right on through and I am in the briefing room. Then I went to another room. Then FINALLY I got on the ride. You are cramped up in a little box with a useless joystick and some fun buttons to press. It front of you is a stupid little video monitor that isn't so fabulous. Then you launch off and feel the gravity (only descent part). For all those complaints of how people are throwing up from the spinning, I think that is really weird because I NEVER felt like I was spinning. You don't feel it. The only reason you spin is to give you that gravity, but it doesn't feel bad at all. Then you are called upon to press two buttons which don't matter because they will work even if you don't press them. Then you go throw a meteor field (Disney always has to have a problem like this to make the ride look good), and finally land on mars. The ride is like 1min. 30sec. It is a joke. I was dissapointed with this ride. I am curious to hear other opinions.

And what is this about this flying over California attraction. #1 how good could they make something like this and #2, what happened to Experimental Prototype Community Of Tommorrow (EPCOT). That sure doesn't sound like this ride has anything to do with what EPCOT stands for.

Have a Merry Christmas

Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.;)

It sounds like someone's just trying to spark a little conversation. ;)

Everyone has a right to their opinion, and this actually isn't the first time I've heard an opinion like this one about Mission Space. I've heard everything about it. Those that think it's the greatest thing Disney has ever done, those who are kind of in the middle, and people like dogg2727 who hate it.

I'm very wary about trying it out. It's not the spinning that concerns me. It's the meteor field, and the landing on Mars that concern me. I didn't deal well at ALL with Body Wars, so I'm a little nervous.

BUT, I will put myself on it, and decide for myself.

we did not ride space; hoever, i did notice on the morning we were are epcot, the line at space was indeed longer than that at test track. everyone was heading to the new darling. we chatted w/many others who did ride it and they all said the same thing: awesome. we are all entitled to our opinion.

I really enjoy this ride. Isn't it great how all of us have different opinions? :)

We went on this ride and thought it was great. I agree you don't feel the spinning, but when I got off of the ride I was definately feeling a little woozy. As for Soarin', it is one of my favorite rides the the DL resort. I think EPCOT could use a ride like it.

I have been on Soarin'

In MY opinion it is a very well done attraction... have you been on the one in California?? Can you even critize it??

While I enjoy this ride, I don't think that it lived up to the hype. I thought it was very weak. It had no physical effect on me whatsever. I wish I could have ridden it before they toned it down.

Everyone's experience will be different on every ride...my mother still thinks that the elevators in the Living Seas actually go underground...no matter how many times we tell her it's just awhole lot of shaking and a 2 inch difference from where she started. She'll also talk to the talking trash cans while the rest of us will try to find the guy in the crowd operating the mic and remote control..maybe she's more open to the fantasy and magic of Disney while the rest of us a slightly jaded and cynical. Mission space might have a few non-functioning buttons and controllers...but it it might just make that ride a little more interactive for a 7 year old into the space travel fantasy....we all know that the Tower of Terror is not haunted...but we buy into the themeing nonetheless...right? I have not yet ridden on MS...but look forward to trying it as soon as I can.

What a great country, where everyone can have a different opinion and there are so many options! If you don't like Mission:Space, go next door to Test Track. If you don't like Test Track, there's the Living Seas............and so on! :)

I thought Misson: Space was a very creative attraction, even if the buttons don't really work.

You know Jak it took me a really long time to figure that out too lol about the elevators. Then I found out while I was checking out the lobby that there were workers carrying equipment into the lobby so they had both doors of the elevator open where the light was shining through. Man talk about ruining the magical moment.

I am curious about soarin', what exactly is that ride. Like what do you do. How does that fit in with EPCOT's theme (community of tommorrow). Plus um he he doesn't soarin' over California meant for um say oh California. It just seems a little weird to see that in Epcot. Hey put it in Animal Kingdom because everything is bad there. I think the was a bad mistake too (*my opinion*). I mean who travels miles to go to a zoo. I do like the dinosaur ride though. That is cool and intense. Just bring ear plugs if you plan on using those in the future.

As for mission space, I honestly can't possibly see what people like about it. Ok look, you said everyone will have there own opinions about each ride, but how come there aren't any complaints about test track. Yeah to some people maybe the turning is to much, but I think on the whole many people love Test Track. How could you enjoy a minute ride of nonsense. There has been way to much hype. Plus how many times can you ride something like that. Watching the same short video. At least other rides have long videos. Oh and you know how you are suppose to feel like you are on mars, well is it just me or did I not feel that way at all. I don't know how to describe it but it just seems that screen is very unbelievable you know. They could have tried something else. Really I don't see anything special about the ride, you go up, go through the field, and land. That is the ride in a nut shell. Plus when I got off the ride, the three next to me were teenagers and they said it sucked so I guess I wasn't the only fella feeling that way. I do like pressing the buttons because it keeps me occupied while I am waiting for the workers to close all the doors. The best part of the ride is just looking at the entrance. That is cool. Other than that nothing grabbing me. See Tower of Terror I can understand because of the drops, the darkness, and the element of suprise. That keeps people either coming back for more or not wanting to go on there. Mission Space you can't say anything like that. I think they should come up with another idea.

Soarin' isn't going to be like a Peter Pan right because that would stink. Although Peter Pan is a very interesting design, the length of it discourages me. Little kids must have a blast flying like that though.

First, I LOVED M:S!! I love pulling Gs (taht's part of the reason I became a pilot). I also think that Disney can make the ride better. They left alot that they can add. i.e. making the joysticks and buttons operational.

but how come there aren't any complaints about test track.
I actually didn't see what all the hype was about with Test Track. We all go 60 on the highway everyday. Nothing new there. Most of us have driven mountain roads. TT wasn't as exciting on that aspect. We all have had to slam on the brakes at some point. And we all have driven on bad streets. Not too much exciting there either. Now if Disney wanted to make that ride bettter, they could make the "high" speed go maybe twice as fast and make it ALOT longer.

#2, what happened to Experimental Prototype Community Of Tommorrow (EPCOT). That sure doesn't sound like this ride has anything to do with what EPCOT stands for.
I think that most of us realize that Walt's vision of EPCOT died when he did. The title of the park isn't EPCOT anymore, it's Epcot . It nolonger has illusions of ever being an Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow.

:earsgirl: :earsboy: Hubby and I rode it twice, we loved it. We were disappointed though because it ended so soon. When it came to a halt we thought it was going to go crashing down not end. We got off saying no, it can't be over yet. So we went and rode it again with the same reaction. Time did not allow us a third ride.

I don't think you hear many complaints about Test Track now that it has been open a while, but when it first came out I know there were let downs and disappointments about it too. I know I for one was a little let down by this ride. I expected more "zooming" around and not all the other "tests." Its an alright ride for me but nothing super special that I must ride it everytime. Everybody has their own opinions and favorites for rides which is what is so great about Disney - there are so many to choose from!

I really liked Mission Space. So did my DH and his parents. I liked feeling the g forces while watching the blast off pictures. And the video from space really made me feel like I was an astronaut. Probably the closet I'll ever get to feeling the sensations of an astronaut. I thought it was very cool. I did feel a little funny in the head after I got off but once I got outside I felt just fine. I too wish it had lasted longer. However my parents went on a little later and wished it hadn't lasted so long b/c they did feel motion sick! They have ridden Body Wars and Star Tours many times so they were very surprised to feel sick on this ride, but they did. So although some of us would like it to go on longer I'm sure there are just as many people like my parents who thought it was too long!

I'm looking forward to riding MS again in February.

Even though I was feeling ill after M:S I thought it was really well done!

And as for Soarin'. It is amazing. The best attraction at DCA and one of Disney's best yet!

I have been on Soarin' and M:S.
Without Soarin' being open at WDW, my only disappointment is it not being different, or little difference, in the CA version.
For those who can't handle spinning, Soarin' will be great. And those who are afraid of heights probably can't handle Soarin', but may handle M:S well.
I liked M:S. Far from being my favorite ride. But I think a good job was done. Star Tours -- now THAT is a lame ride.
Not all rides are for all people. I really like TT. But how many times can you ride TT and think -- Same ol, same ol -- Ho Hum ?

My family and I loved M:S...the G force is like nothing we've ever exprienced particularly on a ride at WDW.Although we liked it ,it wasn't my favorite thing on our last trip to Disney in Oct.I was more excited about the new drops on ToT4...talk about cool! It became my favorite this past trip! :teeth:

As far as TT goes well ,it's on the bottom of my list right now.It was breaking down ALOT in Oct and we were on it one of those times. Stuck on the slope outside, with the safety belt choking me for 35 minutes! Not fun! That happened about 5pm and it was closed the rest of the evening.I'd think after all these years Disney would actually have the bugs worked out of this ride! OY!

As was said before we all have our own opinions on things...that whats makes the world... and Disney World... go round! ;)

As I commented before, the G's are interesting but that doesn't make the ride. I think people like the ride now but will get extremely old very fast unlike other rides. I never felt like I was in space, but you thought so and that is cool. The ride is way to short yet some people wanted off so there is sort of a balance. I guess I can see where some wouldn't like TT but I really think it was a wonderful idea. Putting humans into the dummies position. That was clever. What actually happens on Soarin' like a brief description would be helpful. Is it long.

I bet after a couple of months this MS will be so old it isn't worth wasting your time to go on it. Oh and plus that junkie ride (in my opinion) took over HORIZONS. How dare they. Of course Horizons was getting old but what it needed was renevation. It was an oldie, but a goodie.
