$100 a day budget - enough for Disneyland?

Hi!

My friend and I will be travelling to the US on April 1st to 'do' Disneyland. :sunny: We already have 6 day park hopper tickets, and have booked coach tours to Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios, which are paid for already, and include admission tickets. We will be there ntil Friday April 8th.

I am trying to save as much spending money as possible, but it looks as though I will have around $800, to cover meals, souvenirs, public transport etc. I have gained lots of useful tips, but am panicking slightly that an average of $100 a day (for me only) might not be enough! The hotel is paid for as well, and we are both non-drivers, so renting a car isn't an issue.

What do you all think? Is my budget realistic?

Thanks!

Kirstie

You may want to check out the Disneyland board:

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26

This one tends to talk about Walt Disney World in Florida more than Disneyland in California.

We have been to Disneyland, and this other board was very helpful. One nice thing is there are hotels within walking distance of Disneyland (something you won't find at WDW). There are also restuarants, including fast food ones, within walking distance.

When we went, we stayed at a place called the Candy Cane Inn (recommended on the Disneyland board) and they had a small breakfast each morning, so that saved money on food.

Have fun planning!

$100 for one person a day is more than enough - We average about that for a family of four :) (no character meals, no fancy dinners)
Your hotel may be within walking distance or you would use the ART shuttle system for $3 per day.
Lots of fast food and other family restaurants nearby plus you can easily share meals- have child meal etc within the parks. Good prices and big portions at White Water Snacks inside the Grand Californian hotel- use the entrance (near the Soaring ride ) from DCA (California Adventure) into the hotel , walk all the way down the hall and take a left. Very small signage so many peole miss this little gem!

Souvies could tempt your pocket book -- go to the Character Warehouse by city bus to Fullerton www.ams-liquidation.com for good prices.. stop at In and Out while you ware there- mmmmmmmmm can't wait for my In and Out burger fix in May! Going to try it Animal style (grilled onions, meat cooked with mustard) and fries well done this time.. yum!

Another resource more specific to Disneyland is laughingplace web site.

It depends totally on your lifestyle and how much you eat and buy. Its completely reasonable budget unless you love shopping or have lots of big meals planned.

Most Counter service Id budget 10 a meal for a combo meal and drink
Sitdown- 15-20
Character meals 20-30
Off property fast food 5-7

Souviners-

Pins 7-15
Clothing 20+
Suckers 3+
Everything else 2+

Hi Kirstie,

Just some suggestions. Since you have the "6" day Park Hoppers I am assuming that you are staying either at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels or one very nearby. As stated previously if staying nearby the ART shuttle at $3.00 per day is a great deal to take you from your offsite hotel to the parks. For breakfast inside Disneyland on Mainstreet is the Blue Ribbon Bakery where you can get a muffin or scone and a cup of coffee for around $6.00. Or in CA Adventure go to the bakery that is to your first right when you enter the park (it is in the long set of train cars next to the icecream shop and the toy store) and you can get the same thing. For lunch I like the previous suggestion of the food court at the Grand Californian Hotel. I have had the burger and fries and it was great. You can have lunch for around $15.00 including a beverage. If you choose to have lunch in the parks you can do so at most of the counter service for under $20.00 per person (easily-you might even be able to share some of your meal as some portions are large). Then for dinner, if you are in the mood for some cajun food head to Down Town Disney to Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen Express for and have a cajun dinner alfresco for under $20.00. But, you still have enough money you could try a character meal. I go to Disneyland quite a lot and I usually budget $100.00 per day for both myself and my DS. We have no problem and we get to eat quite well and have a great time. You will do just fine on $100.00 per day for just yourself.

Have a wonderful vacation :Pinkbounc
