10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

Well, you have convinced me (doesn't take much, eh?) Jac. I am going to pack sundress type dresses for my girls, or maybe a rayon knee length B&W dressy dress for DD1 and plan that they will go to the kids club.

Hello Sandky, Meredith, Kelly & Anj! Hopefully I've not left anyone out! I bet everyone is getting really excited. Know we all are.:rotfl: I'm still trying to find ways to fill the hours until we fly out.......and not spend them all on the DIS. :surfweb: Can't tell if it is helping or hurting with my impatience for the Fall break to begin.:confused3 I am very grateful that our school district runs on a modified year round schedule. DD & DS are not missing a day. Which DS probably wishes were otherwise:cutie:

What is everyone doing to keep busy?

im working out as well and working my tail to the bone making extra money for the cruisem being a sever ya never know what to get day to day

I am too busy right now with the kids activities! I took on too many volunteer positions this fall. I wish I had more time to workout. I used to workout 4 times a week and now I am lucky if I get one day in. Time is flying by for me because I feel so unprepared. I normally have it all organinzed and together by now.

Speaking of being organinzed, are we supposed to get anything else from Disney as far as paperwork? This is our first Disney cruise but I have been on Princess and RCCL and we got some paperwork closer to the sail date.

We have fall break as well but it is only Wed.-Fri. The kids are still missing 3 days of school.

:surfweb:
I am too busy right now to think about vacation that is only a couple of weeks away; I have to work extra hours to earn enough vacation and comp time to take off for the vacation, have a business trip to Buffalo the last week of September, work like mad the week we take off to WDW on the 3rd! Yikes! I hope I remember to pack for my vacation and that I have clean clothes to start my vacation off with.

I will need the vacation by the time the rest of this month is over with! My FE is in pieces on our dining table looking so sad because it is nearly finished. I need more time but don't want it at the same time!

Where is my pixie dust?!!:wizard:

It seems I'm keeping busy trying to figure out what I'm going to pack for the cruise! Looks like we will leave the tux at home so that's off the "to think about" list. Plus my mom sister & I are going to Vancouver Oct 1-4 and since I'm the designated family "vacation planner" I'm having to do all the work, research & reservations (thanks tripadvisor!!) for that as well as the cruise. And then there is wmy paying job & my volunteer "job". I think it will be here before we know it.

And of course there is Disneyland for my birthday on Friday!!! We live about 20 mins away so I'm fortunate to have an AP and get to go often.

Kelly

Kelly, I am from Vancouver! Feel free to ask me anything, I haven't done the tourist thing in my town for 11 years (since my wedding and took our out of town guests on tours), but I might be able to help out if you have questions.

Hey Meredith71,

If you pull up your reservation off the DCL website there is a section of forms you can fill out prior to embarkation. Go to Planning Center & click my on-line check in. Scroll down towards the bottom, it's long, and you'll find it.:goodvibes

Hope this helps:thumbsup2

I say go easy on yourself. Last time we cruised, I packed dinner outfits for everyone (a different outfit for every evening) and stressed myself out getting everyone ready for dinner and pictures. This year, I'm just going with the flow. :-)

To keep busy I'm just doing my normal thing. My classes are over so I have more free time which is nice, I can chill a bit before we vaca. I've already completed my cruise paperwork and have it printed off, ready to go.

I do have a goal to work out every day until the cruise. I started my challenge on September 1st and so far so good.

I've been busy with the back to school stuff for my older 2 girls and their activities start up next week. Otherwise, I still have my 18 month at home with me to keep me busy! I've just started a 'cruise packing box' and this week plan to take my girls summer stuff out of their closet and put it into the box. My DD2 went to preschool today in shorts, t-shirt and flipflops. It's pouring rain and I couldn't convince her that those clothes were inappropriate, so I need to do this clothing sort today.

LOL I've had a cruise packing box in my bedroom for a couple of months now. It's filling up now. :rotfl: Here in Arizona, we don't really put away our "summer" clothes so it's hard to set aside clothing for the trip unless it was specifically purchased for the trip!

I went through my "cruise bag" this last week....it was spilling over the top! Hence, time to weed..."hmm, what do I really wanna pack?". DH thinks Im nuts...The garment bag is hanging up in the bathroom. Mine & DD clothes are set to go! DH is (typically) going to wait till the day before we leave to realize he needs more clothes...and this time Im taking note from Jac...Im not sweatin what he's bringing. I know he's got a dress shirt and his Mickey tie, so we're good.:woohoo: DS, (15) has opted to do the same. Hmmmph! Men! The control freak in me is stewing...but im not letting her out this time DARN IT!:scared1:
I havnt even started on an FE!!! Eeeek! And me, being the scrapbook store person...I havnt made magnets er nuthin! Im slackin! (This as I write from a hotel room in Nashville on yet anther biz trip..Uuugh! Oh well, I shouldnt complain, at least Im working!). Oh my...i think im venting on you guys..sorry!
Anyway, I may have the fish extender that looks like a shoe holder...Its cute, but not "technically" an FE. The FE fairy may show up at my house yet though!
This morning I had to leave before my DD got on the school bus for her 1st day of Kindergarten...sniffle sniffle.:sad1: Wouldnt you know it, we didnt know it was a short day for the kiddos and DH wasnt waiting at the bus stop, (our DRIVEWAY!!! 20 paces from our door!!:sad2:), so DD had to ride ALL THE WAY back to the school and sit in the office for 40 minutes until someone made the right phone call to come & get her!! I was somewhere above Denver when I got the voicemail...PANIC MODE AT 36000 FEET!:scared1: Couldnt do a darn thing...oh that was ROUGH!
What a day! My DD is a TROOPER..didnt even cry. She told me she was "Toadawee fwustwaited with Daddy. The bus twicked him":laughing:
Ok...off to bed...early to rise! Hope I didnt vent too much & I hope you all have a GREAT week! My countdown clock says im at the top of the 20's tomorrow!:woohoo:
TTFN!

I'm so overloaded with my kids' school and dance schedules and my work and gym schedule that I don't have time to breathe, let alone think about the vacation. All the preplanning is done for us. I was cleaning up my emails and clicked on a link over here, which must have been a few weeks old - 15 pages ago, good grief!

DH has rented a tux for formal night, and the girls have easily-packable gowns, I'll be wearing a nice black dress. My girls would be upset with me if I left the formal gear at home - they really look forward to having a reason to dress up. My older DD's dress will be her prom dress when the time comes. Homecoming is departure night for this cruise, the SAT is also Saturday, college fair nights are the 7th, 8th, 10th and 12th. The end of the grading period is our cruise week. I sure know how to pick a cruise date. gack.

NO HURRICANES ALLOWED.

well......im excited thats pretty much all i can say. i plan to hit up the sale at macy's this weekend looking for my formal outfit heh....gotta ge stylish...but on a budget (everyone knows what thats like) :P

i cant wait!

Hey everyone! The new Castaway Club info is up on the DCL website!

I haven't been able to log in and read about it but did read some posts about it in the main forum. Looks like my family and I will miss out on the CC reception under this new plan. This cruise will be our 2nd with DCL. I think it's nice that DCL is doing different things to reward those who have cruised with them more. I know I wish I could cruise with them as often as some others on the boards do. Maybe when the Wonder makes it's home in CA, that dream will be a reality for us. If not, I'm just thankful that we have ever been able to cruise at all with DCL! When we boarded the Magic 2 years ago, it was a total dream come true for me. Something I thought would never happen and it did, I am thankful for that. It's just totally rockin' awesome that we get to do it again!!

I got my 'formal night' dress today! It's not uber formal though, so I am going to keep an eye out for something else too. It's a knee length, black and white sleeveless number.
