Every year we (extended family) play one of those gift exchange games - I've heard it called Yankee Swap, Dirty Santa, White Elephant, Chinese Auction, etc. Well, anyway I need some good ideas. What have you guys bought for your exchanges?

Are those good gifts, or ha-ha type gifts?

There is still time I think left on some of the magazines (like Popular Mechanics, Fitness, etc.) to get them for $5.00 for Christmas. Two of those would make a great gift, even just one!

I had to buy five items for my five family members:

1. Home Depot had a two pack of stainless steel coffee mugs for $4,97 :cool1: ; 2. Wal-Mart, squishy neck pillow with a small removal vibrator, $9.97; 3. A 3 pack of teas (some from Trader Joe's and a Sugar Coookie from Lipton (?).

I also scored a terrfic deal at Lowe's a 100 piece tool set (hammer, tape measure, screwdrivers, etc) for $10. -Regularly $59.00 :cool1: I got the only one, so I didn't bother posting.

How about lottery tickets?

I dont know if there is a Kirkland's store near you but I went there the other day and got a really nice candle thing. Its got a wooden tray and the votivecups sit in it and it came with pebbles to place around the votives. It was marked 9.99 I picked up two one for dirty santa and one for a teacher gift..they rang up for 7.64 each.

last night at our party the big item was these kissing birds that said you make me jingle and the kissing sound . SOOOOO cute and everyone loved it ! It was from Khols

We are doing this with our extended family, as well. Our limit is $15 and the ages range from 15 to 89. I'm having trouble coming up with anything fun. I bought a Target giftcard, but that is not too exciting. A joke gift is fine just for a laugh. Any ideas?

We bought DVD's from Target. They had some good one that ranged from 7 and change to 9.99.

Our family has done this for a few years. Last year the hot items were an automatic card shufller and a Texas Holdem' poker set. The women went for the Isotoner gloves.

My most favorite gift from one of these exchanges is a teddy bear holiday cookie jar.

I saw a really cute assortment of them at Walmart today for $9.97. Just one of those things that you like to have but never seem to buy.

Have a great time.

We had a $5 limit for a Secret Santa gift exchange at my Mary Kay xmas party. I got 5 $1 scratch off lottery tickets and they all were fighting over it! Super fun, easy to buy and the possibility of a big win was exciting. Also great for those guys who are hard to buy for. Last year my brother won $150 off $15 in scratch offs- boy - was he really nice to me that day :teeth:

We just had a party Friday night and the big ones here were

1. Bottle of alcohol
2. Dart Shot game from Kohls-
3. Yankee candle
4. GC for a manicure

These were the ones that kept getting "stolen"

My family does this too I have no problem for the ladies but the men seem a little harder, this year I got some jumbo cashews for the man's gift. I've gotten candy in the past and lottery tickets and movie tickets.
