10 Days Of Glorious Disney Dining! Lots Of Pics!~Complete!

Thank you for your reviews! :) Your meal at the Wave didn't sound like a good experience at all. It might have been a rough night for them, but it's still enough to keep it off my list for awhile.

I really wanted to try MSB cin bun. Ihope they look like the gooey one you have or I'm gonna skip it. Not worth the extra sugar unless they really sweeten it up!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Dry pastry is pointless.

I have to agree with your Wave review. We ate there last year and were extremely disappointed. The food was cold that we got and I think we may have had the same server you did. She was not friendly and hardly ever came to our table for anything. We waited forever for our food and could never get her attention for refills. The restaurant was not busy at all either, so there was no excuse of being too busy. I don't think we will go back.

We totally agree about MSB cinny buns...they are no where near as good as they used to be but that egg ham cheese croissant is to die for!

What a shame your meal at The Wave wasn't that great

It sounds like it wasn't just an issue with poor service but that the food wasn't that great either :sad2:

I read on another thread that you can ask for extra gooey goodness to be added to the cinnamon bun as MSB :confused3

I have no idea why they would change them  But then again, why would they take away the french toast loaf :guilty::sad2:

that gooey goodness on the other cinnamon bun looks yummy :cloud9:

It didn't count as a snack credit unfortunatly. We used snack credits on the coffees and the cinnamon bun, but we charged the b-fast sandwich back to the room. I think the cost was around $5.99.

Thanks... wasn't sure. I was totally going to get it if it was a SC, it would have been a great deal!

That cinnamon bun from your previous trip looks heavenly! It's making me crave the Center of the Roll from Cinnabon! My sister and I ate at The Wave two weeks ago and we had weird service. It wasn't bad but just weird. I think our server may have been new but the food was good. There is nothing more that I hate than looking forward to a meal and then none of it lives up to your expectations. Sorry to hear that The Wave was disappointing for you. It's no fun to leave a restaurant hungry!

Cinnabon is my weakness! Yum!

I really hate being disappointed in Disney food because I always want to like it. I'm not too hard to please and I hate to criticize The Mouse ever, but hey, it happens. Glad you enjoyed the food though :goodvibes

I'm hoping it was just a one time thing at The Wave and I would be willing to try it again in the future, but like you said, it will be off my list for awhile.

I really wanted to try MSB cin bun. Ihope they look like the gooey one you have or I'm gonna skip it. Not worth the extra sugar unless they really sweeten it up!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Dry pastry is pointless.

:lmao: If I'm gonna eat a lot of calories it had better be darn good! It's my understanding that other people haven't had good expereinces with the cinnamon bun first thing in the morning either. Maybe late in the morning they get the ooey gooey factor going on.

It seems so mixed with this restaurant. It seems like you and I had a similar expereince, but others have liked it. I guess it just depends some times. At least I know I can skip it next trip and go back to an old favorite I skipped on this one.

Why do they mess with a good thing? If it ain't broke...

As good as the croissant looked I feel the need to eat sweets for breakfast when I'm on vacation. Maybe I'll try a turnover next time...

Yeah, even if the service had been stellar I still would have been pretty disappointed with the place.

I read on another thread that you can ask for extra gooey goodness to be added to the cinnamon bun as MSB :confused3

Maybe I'll have to ask for more of the icing stuff if I try it again. I never got to try the french toast loaf :sad2: I do feel like I missed out on that one.

We got a really early start again today and missed rope drop at MK by only a matter of minutes. We decided to hold off on doing rides for the moment and grab a quick breakfast at Main Street Bakery.

I didn't even have to look to know what I wanted. One cinnamon bun please!

P1030763.jpg

I don't like the looks of that. This is how I remember my beloved cinnamon bun.

We had a great morning at MK and did a TON of rides. Then we got on the first boat over to Tom Sawyer's Island and my poor DH ran all over that island looking for that stupid paintbrush. :lmao::lmao: He must really love me because he knew I wanted to find it and he wore himself out running around for an hour looking. I finally made him give up and we headed back out into the park. The poor man was seriously sweating at this point. After another couple of rides we headed to our early lunch reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern.

P1030781.jpg

Here is the menu outside surrounded by Halloween decorations.

P1030782.jpg

We were seated after only a few minutes. As soon as we sat down our waiter was right over to get our drink order. DH was still worn out and thirsty from our paintbrush search and apoligized in advance to the waiter for how fast he was gonna suck down his soda.

Let me tell you, our waiter was ON THE BALL with refills. He was awesome :thumbsup2 DH never waited for drink and he had a lot of them! Love that kind of service!

Here is my diet coke, which isn't terribly exciting, but I thought the glass was really cool.

P1030810.jpg

We decided to split an appetizer and we decided on the Tavern Fried Cheese

P1030811.jpg

These were so good! You really can't go wrong with fried cheese, but these were particularly tasty.

For my entree I had Freedom Pasta which is Fusilli Pasta and tender Chicken sautéed with fresh Tomatoes, Mushrooms, and a touch of fresh Basil all tossed in a Cream Sauce.

P1030813.jpg

This was delicious! I make something very similar at home using peas instead of asparagus, but I loved the asparagus in this dish so much that I'm gonna switch it up in my dish at home. This dish had the three veggies that I love the most in it, which was great and they were all cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that the sauce was a little bit too salty for me, but I didn't mind, because it was so darn tasty.

DH got the Liberty Lamb Stew-A Hearty Lamb Stew over a blend of Five Grain Rice.

P1030812.jpg

I was so surprised he got this. I thought for sure he would get the Pot Roast. He really loved this though! He kept wanting me to try it, but my entree was so huge and I was looking forward to dessert and I wanted to save as much for it as I could.

For dessert I was torn between the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake and the Apple Tart. The Toffee Cake won.

P1030816.jpg

:lovestruc There are no words. Well, maybe one word. AMAZING!!! I will be coming back here for lunch every trip from now on just for this.

DH got Chocolate Terrine. Here it is (minus one bite)

P1030815.jpg

 Another winner! DH enjoyed this a lot!

What an incredible meal! This was our first time here and I am thrilled with our experience! App, entree and dessert were all excellent and the service was superb! I am coming back for dinner on my upcoming trip in December, so I'll see how I like it in comparison to the lunch. However, I think this will be our must-do lunch spot at MK from now on!

Up next... A last minute dinner at Mara!

On our way out of MK for day we had to stop by Aloha Isle.

P1030833.jpg

What were we getting?

P1030835.jpg

Another Pineapple Float of course! DH gave me a few spoonfuls of the Dole Whip and it really hit the spot on this hot day. That pineapple taste is so refreshing!

We now leave MK minus one more snack credit!

After an exhausting morning/afternoon at MK we went back to AKL for some relaxation time. The plan was to use a CS credit for dinner and we really didn't want to go back into a park to do so. We really wanted to go to DTD for Wolfgang Puck Express, but even the thought of that sounded exhausting. So, we decided to head next door to Jambo House and grab something from Mara.

DH decided on the 1/2 Chicken Dinner with Mashed Potatoes.

P1030846.jpg

He tore into some of the chicken before I remembered to get my camera out, but you get the idea. As soon as he saw this he regreted his choice. He thought there would be more to it. He said the chicken was good, but plain and the mashed potatoes were tv dinner quality. Not a ringing endorsement.

I got the Chicken Breast Nuggets and Fries

P1030847.jpg

I actually really liked mine. It was simple, but good. And there were a lot more chicken nuggets than I thought there would be. I was too full to even finish all the chicken and after asking three different employees I was finally directed to the lids so I could take the rest back to the room.

For dessert DH and I both got the cheesecake.

P1030851.jpg

Not the best picture ever, but the flash was completly washing it out.

This was pretty good too! Very creamy and very filling. I enjoyed this along with my leftover chicken nuggets back at the room later.

We just stayed in the room for the rest of the night eating leftovers, drinking wine on the balcony while looking out at the animals and for the first time ever at WDW we utilized the DVD rentals and watched the cinematic classic...

P1030932.jpg

:lmao::lmao::lmao: This will forever be known as the vacation when we watched Son In Law. In our defense, the choices were limited.

Up next... A relaxing day filled with great food and yet another bad movie!

What a relaxing evening! I know how you feel sometimes when your on vacation, especially DW your soooo tired you just find a restaurant right there even though it may not be your first choice.

I had to chuckle at your DVD rental....most people probably never use the DVD library but during our Poly CL stay we watched 4 movies....its a great thing when you are chilling in the room and there is garbage on tv

I don't like the looks of that. This is how I remember my beloved cinnamon bun.

S6300344.jpg

Now that's what I'm talking about! That's what I expect with a MSB Cinnamon Bun :thumbsup2

LOVE Dole Whip Floats! Can't wait to drink one this weekend :)

Keep up with the great reviews!

Oh wow, you'll be there soon! Have one for me too :goodvibes

You're absolutly right! One of my fondest memories in WDW is something so simple. We were so exhausted after being in the park all day and we wanted to go to DTD for a movie, but couldn't find the energy. So, we went to the food court and got chilli cheese fries and filled our mugs and watched Survivor. Sometimes it's the little things :)

I was embarrassed to rent that! Especially since the same girl checked out Con Air to us the night before. :lmao: We just couldn't watch Stacy show us the must-dos any more!!!! :lmao:

We are still talking about how disappointing this restaurant was. I had high hopes for it too. The dessert was pretty good, other than the weird fruit on my cheesecake, but other than that everything was boring or just plain gross. You can make food healthy, but still give it flavor. We might have enjoyed it a little more with better service, but the terrible service we got just made the whole expereince that much worse. I hate to be so harsh on this place, but I really wouldn't recommend it based on our experience.

DH and I ate at the Wave last year and really thought we would like it. I know it gets mixed reviews, but those who like it, reallllly like it.

I was disappointed as well. The food was very good, and the desserts were excellent. Our service - completely awful! I think we may have had the same server that you did! It turned us off to the restaurant to the extent that we don't even consider going back. Maybe in a few years we will give it another shot, but the service was so poor on our visit, that I think it will be a long time before we return.

Sorry you had a bad experience there too. At least I'm not alone on this one. The fact that a few people who have commented haven't had a good experience at The Wave makes me feel a little better. At least it wasn't just me being picky or anything. I'm always worried that maybe I'm being too fussy, even though I don't think that I am. It will definitely be a few years before I try it again too.

Today we decided to make our morning a relaxing one. We had a reservation for Kona Cafe for breakfast, so we headed to MK and got there just as the Resort Launch was arriving at the dock. Don't you just love it when that happens? Our captain on the boat was really funny and pleasant and he entertained us all the way to the Polynesian.

Once we got upstairs we once again walked past the huge line waiting to check in at 'Ohana and arrived at Kona Cafe.

P1030870.jpg

We arrived right on time for our 9:30 am reservation and we were promptly seated in the exact same table we had for dinner a few nights earlier. Weird!

Our server came over and took our drink order. We loved the juice at 'Ohana for breakfast on a previous trip and we knew they served the same one here so we ordered the Lilikoi Juice which is an Orange, Passion Fruit, and Guava blend. Our waitress told us they call it POG juice and 'Ohana calls it Stitch juice. Cute.

P1030863.jpg

We both loved this! However, we were paying for this meal rather than use our dining plan and while I drink the Disney Kool-Aid 99% of the time I felt that $4.19 for a glass of juice was a bit much. In fact, I thought it had to be a whole pitcher of it for that much money or that you got refills on it but nope, just the one glass. Yikes. It is darn good though.

I already knew what I wanted. Tonga Toast!

P1030865.jpg

Oh my gosh is this good! I swear, and maybe someone can back me up on this, that they had something very similar to this at Caribbean Beach in 2004. My mom and I got a Banana Stuffed French Toast every morning for breakfast on our trip that year, but I can't remember if it had the cinnamon and sugar on the outside. We went back for it two years later and they no longer had it. Anyway, back to the food.

Here is a pic of the inside.

P1030868.jpg

:lovestruc Heavenly!

They also give you maple syrup and strawberry compote with the Tonga Toast

P1030866.jpg

I tried the strawberry compote with it, but it just wasn't my thing. I did drizzle the maple syrup on it though and that was really tasty. DH was stressing out that I wasn't putting the strawberry on it! I gave him a bite with the strawberry and he loved it! He definitely wants to get this next trip.

DH was torn between the Steak and Eggs and the Samoan. Our waitress highly recommended the Samoan and told him he could get steak and eggs anywhere, but he could only get the Samoan here at Kona. He was sold. He ordered the Samoan, which is Poached Eggs with Hollandaise served over Smoked Pulled Pork Hash with Watercress. I believe it was all on top on pieces of English Muffin.

P1030864.jpg

Here is a better pic of it once some of it was eaten.

P1030867.jpg

This is his new favorite breakfast ever! Every morning since we've been back he wakes up and says to me in the saddest voice ever, "I want the Samoan." Poor thing. He parted with a bite so I could try it and it was very delicious!

We might have to eat here multiple times on the next trip. No, we definitely will. In fact, we might just have to stay at Poly so we can eat here every morning!

This was what our plates looked like when we were done.

P1030869.jpg

Ummmm... I think we liked it. :lmao:

I also have to say that our waitress was fantastic! Her suggestions were great, she was very friendly and right on top of everything. Loved it!

DH ordered the Kona Blend coffee and for only $2.69 he got a whole entire pot of coffee. A much better value then the juice. He still had some left at the end of the meal, so our waitress brought out two to-go cups with lids. We both got a full cup out of it and took them with us down to the bus.

On the way out of the hotel a very friendly cast member gave us leis, which we wore to DTD. Here we are waiting for the bus.

P1030871.jpg

What a great start to the day! I really couldn't have asked for a better meal or a more wonderful morning with my hubby.

Up next... An ice cream treat at DTD!

I love the reviews and your pictures are almost edible!

Just wanted to say Yorkshire puddings are one of my fave things ever. As an English girl, you cant have a good roast without it. They are beautiful. A perfect Yorkie pud should be cripsy, lightly golden and soggy on the inside. The Yorkie pud should be used like a boat, filled with gravy. Yum yum.

Brilliant review btw!! Thanks

Yorkshire pudding is one of my absolute favourites! However, I noticed in the picture that there were roasted potatoes in it ... I'm sincerely hoping that was a mistake by the server and not how they normally serve them since, as StawberryTink pointed out, proper yorkshire pudding is essentially the "bread" filled with gravy ... no potatoes. Whenever we had yorkshire pudding, it was instead of potatoes.

That being said, there is a local deli that makes mini-yorkshire puddings filled with roast beef. They're just a bit bigger then bitesize and pure bliss :cloud9:

Once again, love the reviews. There's so many places I want to try now that I always just skipped past! :woohoo:
