10 Days Of Glorious Disney Dining! Lots Of Pics!~Complete!

Thanks so much for the Turf Club review

We are going to be staying at SSR in May so we hope to check it out

Oh boy, the red velvet cupcake at Starring Rolls is at the top of my list in October :cloud9:

Now I am exctied to get my TSM FP and then go to Starring Rolls for breakie. I was pretty set on a butterfinger cupcake, until I saw the red velvet. My DS and I will have to get both to share....not my DH, he is one of those guys who would rather by an apple or banana (oh, to have such self-control) :rotfl2:

Ok... I'm drooling over the cupcake!!! :lmao:
I love Starring Rolls. I could stay in that store whole day admiring and tasting their cupcakes and desserts!

I just discovered Starring Rolls last trip and now I'm hooked! I can't wait to try something new in December :thumbsup2

I've had that carrot cake cookie! The lady at the counter recommended it. It was sooooo good.

Love all the pics! I can't wait to go again.

The woman working there recommened it to me too! But she didn't need to because I was already sold on it before I even walked through the doors!

The red velvet looks great!!

Oh my gosh! It really was!

That's great that you're staying at SSR! I really like it there. It doesn't have the wow factor that Poly or AKL have, but it's very relaxing and peaceful there. You definitly should check out Turf Club while you're there. They usually have a great lunch menu too!

:lmao: I always see people eating fruit at breakfast when we're at WDW and I always say to my husband, "Oh give it a rest people! You're on vacation for goodness sake." :lmao: I definitely don't have that kind of self-control either!

After a great day at MGM and some relaxation time back at AKL, we head out for dinner. We hop a bus to MK and then we take a monorail to Contemporary and we are at our destination... The Wave!

I loved the entrance and the lounge here. Very chic! DH and I were super excited to eat here for the first time. After seeing reviews on here and looking over the menu I booked this restaurant in hopes it would become a new favorite. I am sorry to say it is mostly definitly not a new favorite. It was our most disappointing meal of the trip.

We were seated right away and our waitress came over and took our drink orders. She always explained the restaurant to us. She was telling us about how the goal here is healthy eating and told us that nothing on the menu was fried. We made some little joke about "Oh no! No fried food?" But this only got us a dirty look from our waitress. Geez. We were just kidding. To start she brought us out the bread and butter.

P1030753.jpg

I believe this is some kind of multi-grain bread. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was the epitome of plain.

DH ordered the Organic Beer Flight to drink.

P1030756.jpg

He said it was the most boring beer he ever drank. He said the one was exactly like drinking a Miller Lite. And he did not mean that as a compliment :rotfl:

Every entree on the menu sounded great! We both had a tough time choosing. DH got the Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Cave Man Bleu Cheese Vinaigrette, Local Tomato and Green Bean Salad, and Fingerling Potatoes.

P1030754.jpg

A few problems with this dish. It looks big in the picture, but it was so tiny. It wasn't very filling for him. Also, our waitress asked him if he was ok with bleu cheese because there was a lot on this dish and he told her that he loved bleu cheese and the more the better. There was barely any bleu cheese on it! Why make a point to ask when there really isn't a lot on it? The final problem was that he asked about getting a side of the stewed mushrooms listed on the menu. Our waitress was baffled by this request for some reason. He had to repeat the question multiple times and point to it on the menu before she knew what he was talking about. He said he would pay for the side and that would be fine. She then said that she could only substitute it for something else on the plate. :confused3 He kept saying we could pay for it, but she kept insisting that he substitute it for the tomato and green bean salad, so he finally gave up and just did it that way. Again, this wasn't bad, but he just said it was too small and tasteless.

I had the Espresso-Barbecue Beef Short Rib with Mustard Seed Slaw and Applewood-smoked Bacon Potato Salad.

P1030755.jpg

I was really looking forward to trying this. DH's mother makes a bacon potato salad that is TO DIE FOR! It's famous in their family. On our Memorial Day picnic this year I ate two plates of it and nothing else. Not even a hot dog. It's that good. So, I knew this potato salad wouldn't be as good, but I thought it would still be pretty darn tasty. :crazy2: It was kind of yucky. And the Mustard Seed Slaw had no flavor whatsoever. I was just raw shredded veggies in a pile on my plate. The short ribs were tender and I really liked them, but the sauce on top was so overpowering with the meat. Less sauce and it would have been good, but there was waaaay too much on there.

Also, our food was out to us eerily fast. I would say it was only about 5 minutes from ordering it until it hit our table. I'm not complaining, but it was really weird. When we commented to our waitress how quickly this came out it only elicited another blank stare.

We thought that the food coming out fast was a good sign and that we would have quick service throughout the meal. Nope. After our food came out and we finished eating we sat with empty plates in frony of us for over 30 minutes. DH also tried to flag our waitress down as she was walking by to order a glass of wine which got a response of, "HOLD ON!" This was said in a NASTY tone. We looked at each other like, "What did we do?" We really are not a pain out at restaurants. We are just about the most easy going customers you can get, and I work with the public all day every day, so I always try to be understanding about service, but this was ridiculous. Our waitress was so rude to us and then I saw her laughing and being friendly with other tables. Where's the love for us lady? When she finally came back to ask DH what he wanted he just said to forget about it. We just wanted to eat our dessert and leave. She still didn't clear our plates.

We then waited and waited for a dessert menu. When she brought it out we decided pretty quickly. We then waited and waited some more for her to take our order even though she kept walking past the two of us sitting there with our dessert menus closed. I was determined to enjoy this dessert. I was hoping it would save the meal right here. We both ordered the Creamy Indulgence which was New York Cheesecake with House-made Seasonal Fruit Compote, Coffee Crème Brûlée with Chocolate Biscotti and Olive Oil-infused Chocolate Truffle Mousse.

P1030757.jpg

The Creme Brulee and the Biscotti were really good! It did have a very strong coffee flavor, so I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like coffee. The biscotti complimented it perfectly. The Mousse was a little bit different consistancy than most mousse I have tried, but it was really good and there was a little bit of caramel with it on the plate which was yummy. The cheesecake was creamy and good, but that fruit on it was YUCK! It was very bitter. I don't even know for sure what kind of fruit it was. I hate fruit on my cheesecake, but DH loves it. Not this time. He had way less fruit on his piece than I did and even he was grossed out by it. We both picked it off the top like a couple of fussy kids :rotfl:

Once again we sat there with our empty plates in front of us for a long time and then sat there again for a long time before she brought the bill over. DH told me to get my card out so that we could give it to her as soon as she gave us the bill. Well now here comes the friendliness we've been waiting for. "Oh I hope you're meal was wonderful!" "Did you like the dessert, it's my favorite?" "Are you having a magical trip?" Please. You have been rude to us all night, but now that it's time to tip, you turn on the charm. That really annoyed me. I tried to give her the card, but she said I had to fill it out first. :confused3 There's nothing to fill out! The only place to write in something was the tip, but I always leave cash, so I wrote "CASH" in the tip line and gave it to her. I wanted to pay cash for the beer too rather than charge it back to the room, but she brushed past the table so fast and just grabbed it off the table that I couldn't even tell her that. I tried to yell after her, but she just kept walking.

She came back with the bill and said, "I charged the beer back to your room. Was that okay?" I politely told her that I wanted to pay cash for it, but that she walked away from me too fast to tell her. It wasn't a big deal, but still. No apology. No offer to fix it. Just one last blank stare.

We left and got back on the monorail to head to MK. DH's two sisters have a reservation for The Wave during their trip to WDW in November, so DH called his one sister to tell her how much we didn't like The Wave and persuade her to cancel her ressie. He was talking to her while we were on the monorail and he said to her, "They managed to ruin beer and cheesecake!" Which prompted a big laugh from a fellow passenger :lmao:

We are still talking about how disappointing this restaurant was. I had high hopes for it too. The dessert was pretty good, other than the weird fruit on my cheesecake, but other than that everything was boring or just plain gross. You can make food healthy, but still give it flavor. We might have enjoyed it a little more with better service, but the terrible service we got just made the whole expereince that much worse. I hate to be so harsh on this place, but I really wouldn't recommend it based on our experience.

Ok, crazy rant over! Sorry for such a bummer of a review

Up next, a great food day at MK!

A few years ago my DH and I were at Wolfgang Puck's cafe. We sat for a long while before getting a menu, we sat for a while for our drink order or bread. We sat for a while to have our order taken. Never got a drink refill, never got the glass of water I asked for, sat with empty plates... Mind you, we were the only table the waitress had. She just stood in the corner talking... we got the impression she was ignoring us on purpose. So after a bit of sitting with dirty plates and no drinks, we started to get up and walk out. She sure ran over quick enough, she said excuse me, you havent paid yet. We said, well we have been sitting there for about 20 minutes waiting for you. She said she was busy and I told her I saw her busy holding up the wall in the corner. She didnt get any tip and we didnt feel bad about not leaving one.

I can handle slow service when busy, but rude or bad service is unacceptable.

I love your reviews! I really want a big slab of meatloaf from WPE right about now - YUM! Follow that by a red velvet cupcake and I would be set LOL!

SO is it terrible getting to other resorts from AKL? That is one thing I am nervous about on our upcoming trip. I think we only have 1 reservation at a resort though so I guess I shouldn't panic!

Wow, that really was terrible service. Even if you're busy, that's no excuse for not making the customers as comfortable as possible. They're there to enjoy a relaxing meal.

I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food, and I LOVE healthy options, but the way you describe those dishes makes them sound really :crazy2: Sounds like they need an all new menu!

I am so bummed by your meal at the Wave...we had 2 great dinners and service there and I booked it for our final meal in Oct but now I think I am going to cancel it for Artists Point or Bluezoo....

great reviews & pics thanks

Thank you so much :goodvibes

I had really horrible service to WPE last year myself. And I agree with you 100%. I never mind slow service when there is a reason for it. Our service was kinda slow on our trip to Kona earlier in the trip, but I didn't even mention it in my review because it didn't bother me a bit. Our waitress was running her butt off for a lot of tables and she kept telling us that she was so sorry when things were slow due to delays in the kitchen. Not a problem at all. But I don't appreciate someone being rude to me when I always go out of my way to be polite. Rudeness is always unacceptable in any aspect of life.

That sounds like a good combination to me :thumbsup2 Getting from resort to resort is always a little bit of a pain. It's not specific to AKL. Getting to one of the monorail resorts is never too bad for us, but for some of the others it can be tricky. The worst part for me is when I end up running late from all the bus changes I have to make. I would say give yourself 90 minutes to get from AKL to the other resort and don't let it stress you out. Just go into it ahead of time knowing it will take awhile to get there. That's how I was with getting to SSR from AKL and it didn't bother me too much when it actually took 90 minutes.

I agree, there's never any excuse for being rude to your customers. As a business owner I know this all too well. I'm a very adventurous eater too and somtimes I realize that just because a particular food tastes bad to me it still might be enjoyed by someone else. But in this case I think some of the food was just outright gross. Maybe not an all new menu, but they definitely need to tweak some of the flavors.

I would hate for my review to talk you out of The Wave if you have enjoyed it in the past. Maybe it was just an off night for us. Although I must say that Artist Point is pretty great. That remains DH's all time favorite meal at WDW. In fact he always mentions the mushroom soup with the bacon on top. I have told him a million times that it was roasted shiitake mushrooms that just had a bacony flavor, but he still insists it was bacon. I give up. :lmao:

We did The Wave on our last trip and won't be returning again. Our family left the restaurant hungry!!!!

i didn't like the wave either. the waitress was misleading when i asked about what to order and i hated my meal. df liked his--but maybe he's crazy, lol. i went to casey's after to get corn dog nuggets :)

We got a really early start again today and missed rope drop at MK by only a matter of minutes. We decided to hold off on doing rides for the moment and grab a quick breakfast at Main Street Bakery.

I didn't even have to look to know what I wanted. One cinnamon bun please!

P1030763.jpg

I hate to say this, but I wasn't all that crazy about the cinnamon bun this trip :sad1: The one I had last year was beyond amazing and this one was just okay. The bottom was slightly stale and it wasn't as warm and gooey as before. No extra icing dripped all over it. Boo.

Just so you can compare for yourself, here is the picture of the one I ate here last year

This one even LOOKS better!

DH had the Ham, Egg and Cheese Croissant

Here's a shot of the inside

P1030762.jpg

He really enjoyed this! He loved it last year and this year was no different. He said that the croissant was really fresh and the sandwich was still hot and tasty.

To wash it down we both had a Vanilla Iced Coffee

P1030764.jpg

I always enjoy these. Exactly the thing I need to kick me into gear first thing in the morning.

Now we're off to enjoy the low crowds in the park!

Up next... Our awesome first trip to Liberty Tree Tavern!

That's too bad about the cinnamon bun. You're right, the other one DOES look better!

Question -- the ham, egg and cheese on the croissant -- does that count as a snack credit on the QSDP? Thanks!

I'm so sorry to read that your Wave meal wasn't good and what a terrible service! I would have demanded talking to a manager. I understand that some meals/choices are not to your liking (b/c we all have different taste) but I expect good service when I'm being waited.

It didn't count as a snack credit unfortunatly. We used snack credits on the coffees and the cinnamon bun, but we charged the b-fast sandwich back to the room. I think the cost was around $5.99.

Exactly, I never complain when I don't like the food, because it was my choice to order it and not all tastes are the same, but bad service is another issue. I probably should have talked to a manager, but I hate doing that. I think I've only talked to a manager at a restaurant twice in my life and both of those times the situation was BAD BAD BAD. Plus I wanted to catch Wishes and so I just wanted to get out of there!

That cinnamon bun from your previous trip looks heavenly! It's making me crave the Center of the Roll from Cinnabon! My sister and I ate at The Wave two weeks ago and we had weird service. It wasn't bad but just weird. I think our server may have been new but the food was good. There is nothing more that I hate than looking forward to a meal and then none of it lives up to your expectations. Sorry to hear that The Wave was disappointing for you. It's no fun to leave a restaurant hungry!
