10, 9, 8, 7…Partying with the mouse NYE 2009! Home and working on a TR.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to thank everyone for reading my trip report.:grouphug: I am typing up day 2 slowly at work. It is a long one!
I wanted to wait till I got my photopass CD back to post the next day, but it might take a will. I am not too happy with many of the photos to begin with. We might have had about 10 taken I like.:rotfl2: I refuse to remove sunglasses ever again will in WDW for a picture. :smokin: Every time one of is squinting in a photo when we did.
I am thinking about doing a review here of POFQ and dinning to hold you all over. It depends on how busy I am this week. My niece moved into a new house and we helped her move this weekend. What free time I have will be helping her get organized before the new baby comes. She is due in March.
I am decorating and organizing once AGAIN for her. I really enjoy it though.
So hang in here with me.:hyper:

We'll be here when you're ready!! Take your time, the faster you write it, the quicker it's over!!:sad1: I can't believe my TR is almost done..sniff, sniff!! Take care!:goodvibes

I'm still enjoying your TR...Will be looking for a new post :)

:joker: POFQ Resort review:
Disney_Port_Orleans_French_Quarter_.jpg

First, this is only the third time we have stayed on property. We have stayed at ASMo and CBR. I liked both of those resorts, but this is the first resort that I fell in love with at WDW. POFQ is a bit more then a moderate resort in my opinion. I don’t know if it is the southern blood in me or what. (My Dad was born and raised in Kentucky. LOL But it sure has some southern charm! Our room was located in building six, room number 6121. As all of you know I was not feeling to great when we first saw the room, so the next day is when I noticed the little things. Like the chairs with Mickey heads on them, the bed spreads etc. CBR is said to have the larger of rooms for the mods, but I found POFQ more roomer for the four of us. I also noticed that this room was very dusty. The bathroom was clean and so was the mirror area. But the nightstand, TV area, etc were very dusty. So since I was worried about the RUMOR of this terrible stomach bug in WDW, I had packed Clorox wipes and Lysol. I got to work on the remote and phone first, then the door knobs and then dusted the room. I ran out of wipes. I informed housekeeping that I did so, and said that the head boards were also in need of cleaning. There were never done. I used a wash cloth on them the next day! :confused3 I assume this room was not occupied in a will, and housekeeping just came in and cleaned the bathroom area before we checked in. Least that is what I am hoping.Even with a dusty room, POFQ stole my heart. Mousekeeping was good, she alwasy cleaned up very well, and left us plenty of towels, and friends. The resort is just placed so nicely along the river. All the rooms are close to everything. You have the door man, who became my friend for the next eight days. He knows a lot and HE HAS MAPS FOR ALL THE PARKS GUYS! :thumbsup2 POFQ just seems spiffier, as my Mom use to say. The grounds of the POFQ resort are out of this world. Flowers blooming, trees etc. I left cold dark gloomy Pennsylvania, and want to heaven. It has a warm welcoming feeling to it. The food court had such a variety of food. We only ate breakfast a couple of times and had dinner one night at the food court. But I have to tell you the PHILLY cheese steak I had, impressed me very much. The pool and area was very clean and so was the laundry area.I really enjoyed this resort, and though I like staying at different resorts each time we vacation at WDW; I believe POFQ is a resort I will return to stay again.:goodvibes

I hope we like POR as much as you liked POFQ! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I know you will. You know you can walk or take the boat over to see the POFQ and you can use the pool there also. There were lots of people from POR using the pool at POFQ.

I had to pick DD from school today her tooth was bothering her bad. It is a baby tooth that I wished the dentist just pulled out on her last visit. It refuse to come out. Hopefully this weekend I will have an update.
Not much going on this weekend, so I should be able to get some reporting done.

I'm so pleased you loved POFQ so much, even with a dusty room, we've stayed at POR twice and loved that. The theming is just lovely with all the flowers etc :goodvibes

Wow! I'm glad you liked POFQ so much!! It's funny you mention the dusty room! Our room @ WL was dusty too! Nightstand was the worst and the info sheets were old! We also assumed no one had been there in awhile.

Can't wait to read more when you have a chance!!

I never post...only lurk...(a lot) and had to come out of lurkdom to tell you how much I am enjoying your trip report! We went to WDW December 23-January 1 and also stayed at POFQ. We loved it there so much! It's beautiful and quiet and small and just wonderful. I also wanted to agree with you about the Doorman, Chris, becoming your friend for eight days! That is exactly how it feels! The man is a fabulous asset to POFQ! In fact, when we got home, I emailed Disney to let them know how much he added to our trip! Friday at work, my cell phone rang and it was the Disney Executive Offices calling to thank me for letting them know. Gotta love it when the cell phone shows a 407 area code! Your trip report is taking me back "home." Thank you! Back to lurking... But first, the official POFQ smiley..in my mind anyway...:joker:

Great TR so far! I'm so sorry you got sick on NYE, what a bummer. It did sound like you had a migraine, I get them as well and they knock you off your feet when they hit. If it makes you feel better my hubby and I went to Disneyworld for the first time in 2008 and it was our honeymoon and I had bronchitis for the beginning of the trip. Sometimes things just happen. :)

Anyway, I love your pictures so far, can't wait for more and I also loved your report on POFQ. We stayed there for a couple days and fell in love with the place as well. :goodvibes

I have heard that POFQ does not fill up rooms like other resorts on WDW property. So I figure mousekeepign does not think to dust areas not being used.

:welcome: Glad you came out of lurking. I did found it very quiet also.
CHRIS, I thought that was his name but I thought ok maybe I am just thinking that was his name. He is an asset to the resort. I tried to email disney but for some reason it would not send. So I mailed a letter. I wish I took a picture with him.:rotfl2:

:jester: Happy New Year

I hear a phone ringing… NO SLEEPING! :stitch: OMG… I AM IN WDW! EVEYONE GET UP! It is 6:45am.I jump out of bed. I still feel a bit dizzy, or hung over. But I did not drink anything last night! Must have been the kitchen sink! :rotfl2: I went right into commando mode. I hurry to get dress and lay out everyone’s matching phillies shirts. DH says well I guess your head does not hurt anymore. He tells me that DS reminded him to set the wake up call.:goodvibes I make DH’s some coffee in the resort pot.He gets dressed and goes to get me some hot water in our 2007 YOMD mug, so I can make a cup of tea. WARNING: Kate Gosselin mode: I start to notice things in the room, and also notice it is really dusty. :crazy2: I get the wipes and start cleaning. DH is like what are you doing? I said well you know I told you about that stomach bug down here, do you want to get it? I Lysol the bathroom area! Back to WDW mode….:cheer2: DD and DS get dressed and eat cereal we had brought with us. I do my hair, make up etc. DH since he gets ready in a second, want exploring the resort and video taped. I had to send DS to go found him. MAN Here I am with a kitchen sink hang over and he is out exploring. So of course I had to pack the back pack for the day besides get myself ready. :mic: He is lucky I packed him muffins for breakfast.
Will DS is looking for DH, DD reminds me about the things I have to put in the window. So we go to hang them and guess what I forgot to pack. TAPE! So we use the little round stickers that came with the maps I ordered from Disney. It worked. (Side not I found the tape I did not pack when we got home in my draw where I was hiding all my WDW info. It was the only thing I forgot to pack, so I did well.)

Here is our window at POFQ
Then off we go to the bus stop. I love the little streets through POFQ resort. The grounds of POFQ were so pretty that morning. Everything just seemed alive. Being from the east coast, we don’t see that in January. It felt like I had spring fever that morning. We stop at the food court so DH can get a coffee in the 07’ mug. :coffee: Yes, we were one of the many people still using the old mugs. :ssst:
:hyper: I was really excited about going to MK today. I could not wait to see the decorations here. We waited about 10 minutes for the magic kingdom bus to come. We laughed because you guessed it DHS bus came as we approached the bus stop. The bus ride was very cold. I could not believe they had the air condition on. It was bit of a chilly morning. We thought it felt nice outside, but had our jackets on. If Disney is all about conserving, start with the air on the buses, and stores and restaurants. Don’t ask me to save a towel from being washed when you are running air that does not need to be on. Ok, I will try not to rant and rave about this again! Or will I?

I helped DH shovel snow last night, and forgot I did not put up the other installment. I will have to add the other installment tonight after work, since I did not emailed it back to me. We got about 5 inches of snow. The kids had two hour delay for school. They should have had off. They gave them off the last time it snow for less amount of snow then we got this time. :sad2:
Hope everyone on the east coast reading is having fun shoveling out.:thumbsup2

Love the window decorations! I'll have to think of something to do on ours too. :scratchin

I think just forgetting the tape is pretty darn good. :thumbsup2
