10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Hello all,
I keep telling myself I have to get on here more often, but life keeps getting the way! I have tried to keep up with everyones trials and tribulations and have kept you all in my thoughts and prayers. The good news is that no matter what gets thrown our way, there's a ship full of Magic waiting for us in less than a month!
I've been trying to prepare for the trip. I haven't packed a thing but I did get my FE and door magnets done. I thought I would post them and if you want to steal and idea or two, go right ahead. Most of them are not original ideas to start with.
We are soooo anxious to get on that boat and sail away for seven glorious days with so many awesome people. As soon as my cruise docs come, I'm sure the reality of how close the cruise is will hit me. At that point I'll probably go into panic mode :scared: and be packed within a week. Nothing else will get done around here, but we'll be ready to sail.
Here's to everyone getting and staying healthy and out of Mother Nature's fury!:grouphug:
See you soon!
Beth

Beth,
Thanks for posting your FE and magnets. I love to see what everyone's creativity!! I can't wait to see them in person. :)

Your magnets are awesome! Good job!

Kim,

Let's hope that come Monday you find out that it is indeed a bruise. However, a bad bruise can hurt worse than a break!

Wow, you all seem like an awesome group of people! I'm so glad we are sailing with you. :cool1: We will definitely be at the DISmeet. :goodvibes

We just found out that my brother will be going also. He is 34 and single and basically afraid that my DH and I are going to go to bed at nine with the baby and leave him alone and bored every night  I tried to tell him that we won't, but also that there will be lots of other fun people on the ship that we can meet ;) I don't think he's convinced, but I know he'll have a great time!

Beth, I love your magnets! I can't wait to make my own! We had some for our last cruise, but of course I have to make new ones.

Tell your brother that if I remember correctly they had some singles events on our last cruise with the Magic!

Hi Everyone!

I am new to this thread- we just booked our cruise this morning!! :goodvibes
Last minute, I know, but we were waiting for several things to fall into place.

I just wanted to come on and say Hi, because I am usually more of the anti-social type and I want to change that:)

So, this will be my fifth cruise, but the very first cruise for my DS- 16months  My DH is coming, and my DM (her first seven day cruise).

We are SO excited and I hope I get to meet and chat with at least some of you!

Tracy
:dance3: :woohoo:  :yay: :cheer2:

Welcome Tracy :cool1:

DS13 had a baseball game today, now on the way to ER. We think he broke his arm by a wild pitch. I will hate if he is in a cast for the cruise. Wish us luck. With hubby being a medic and I a nurse, we usually guess it pretty close with broken bones. Hate to be guessing this one

Will keep you updated.
Kim

Kim, hope your DS is feeling better & his arm is only bruised.

We got our docs for both cruises today :cool1:  :dance3: . Seems DCL is trying to save on postage :rotfl2: as they both arrived in the same FedEx package.

We leave in 14 days :dance3: .
Have a good week everyone.

Tania

Wow I can't believe we are under 30 days now!!!! Yay!!! I haven't been on too much just too many things to do to get ready!

I've started finishing up my FE Gifts today so one more item to check off the list!

Hope all who were in storms paths are doing good and are safe and sound!

Is anyone sending a box ahead? If so, what is th address and process? We are considering it but not sure if it is worth it yet.

Thanks guys!!

24 days....

I think that I will have to - just need to decide if I want to send to the ship or OKW but most likely the ship. This was copied from the FAQ

Sending packages ahead of time to the ship:

PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!!

-ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.

-The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.

-The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.

-NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.

- The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:

IDS c/o (Ship Name) / Ground Services
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Friday for Saturday and Sunday sailings.

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Wednesday for Thursday sailings.

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding.

These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Guess what??? I am going on a cruise - got the documentation in the mail today!

Since I can print everything from the website, it was pretty much official anyway but nice to have none the less.

Has anyone seen the pictures of the Magic in Drydock? Someone already posted them and they are awesome!! They're getting her all ready for us!!

Saw this press release posted the other day:thumbsup2 ...

CELEBRATION, Fla. – An exciting collection of enhancements awaits the Disney Magic as the ship heads into dry dock Sept. 6-24, 2008. The 2,700 passenger cruise ship will undergo a series of upgrades for guests of all ages.
Here is a glimpse at what’s in store:

Indulgence and Relaxation
Quiet Cove, the serene pool retreat reserved for the enjoyment of adults, will undergo a makeover including upgrades to Cove Café, the pool and the deck area. Cove Café, the ship’s sophisticated coffee lounge, will incorporate a new seating area with plush, comfortable chairs providing the perfect venue to relax while sipping a cup of gourmet coffee. Meanwhile, the adult pool will be outfitted with soothing, cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs. Teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions will line the pool, creating an inviting, stylish ambiance in line with the Vista Spa and Salon.

Fun for the Little Ones
The Oceaneer Club, a Neverland-themed play space for 3-7 year olds, and the Oceaneer Lab, a whacky and interactive laboratory exclusively for 8-12 year olds, will be enhanced with new registration areas that make the check-in process more efficient and hassle-free. This sets the stage for incorporating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the youth activity areas later this year, which will further enhance and streamline the check-in process. The technology uses RFID tags embedded on wristbands, allowing children to simply tap a sensor to check in and out of the clubs.
Even the youngest cruisers will have a splashtacular time in “Mickey’s Splash Zone,” a new toddler water playground inspired by Fantasia’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This 385-square-foot extension to the Mickey Pool on deck 9 will feature star- and moon-shaped interactive fountains, a soft play surface and whimsical splash zones; creating an inviting environment for children not yet toilet trained and in swim diapers.

New Conveniences
The guest staterooms onboard the Disney Magic are receiving an infusion of technology with the installation of flat-screen LCD television sets. The new 22-inch units will be mounted on a swivel arm to allow easy viewing from multiple locations within the stateroom.

Good Morning!!!

I can't sleep! Too excited about cruising with my 4 Musketeers this weekend.

OK, I'm going to go back to sleep.

Jan

   Got our docs!!!   Thank Goodness, I don 't know how much longer I could have waited! :rotfl2:
Now it is all official. All I need to do now if pack :lmao:

Glad everyone is receiving their docs. Got my second set yesterday..Yay!!!

Jan, you certainly were the early bird this morning. Hope you were able to go back to sleep. That is so great that this weekend, you will be setting sail. I'll try not to be too jealous, lol.

25 days!!!! I cannot believe it! I pulled out the suitcase and started throwing in a few odds and ends.

Well, I guess I have to come back to reality...I have 95 7th graders to educate...whether they like it or not, lol.

Lori P. :)

Good morning everyone! Do you know that in 25 days we board the Magic?? We have waited so long - I can hardly wait another 25 days. I really think that I will book a fake date while we are onboard and move it out when they release the 2010 dates open. We will be onboard for the big announcement about the itineraries too. I am really thinking about Christmas as I think it should be a longer cruise. We shall see.

Everyone have a great Tuesday. Fall seems to have arrived - been in the
40's at night and only in the 60's during the day. But, this is my kind of weather.
