10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Gena! That is fantastic news! I don't know how I missed you posting until today. What an answer to prayer! God is good!

WolfeinTN, WELCOME!!! We are from the TN/GA border. I'll give you my opinion of the Magic vs. Wonder. We have sailed each once. They were both nice. However, the Magic was just different for us. It was maintained better (paint, etc). Also, the crew didn't seem as rushed. The crew of the Wonder was wonderful (no pun intended), but they seemed to be trying to ruh everything from 7 days in to 4. We can't wait to get back to the Magic!

110 days until I leave home!!!!

Ginger :cool1:

Happy Saturday everyone. Hope you are all doing well. I am looking forward to a nice, quiet weekend. Everyone is either at camp or visiting friends for the weekend so I am home alone until early tomorrow evening. AHHHHHHHH!

So, enjoy your weekend everyone. Take it easy - or not.

We have a relaxing weekend planned... for once! Wynn had to work today, so it is just me and the kids. We are just hanging out today, then going to a baseball game tonight. Its a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser. For $10, my whole family gets into the game, free dinner buffet, and T-shirts. Can't beat it with a stick!

My planning kit arrived yesterday! :cool1: Guess it is now official. Well, except for the little part about paying it off! Mine did come from my TA, so maybe that is a hold-up for those who used TAs.

Hello, everyone! I'm getting so excited about the cruise! Steve and I are doing WDW for 4 days after the cruise and I'm trying to decide whether I want to do the MNSSHP or not. We did it last year with our Ohio friends but Steve had a terrible cold and we had to leave early! Poor guy!

One day closer and still counting!!!
Just realized that I am now at 98 days. It is getting close and still so much to do and so much more to save. (Remembering that I leave 14 days before most of everyone on this cruise) Lois

Sorry it has been so long, computer had major issues, but all better now. We got our welcome packet in the mail this weeeknd!!!!!! now off to start planning activities.

Welcome WolfeinTN, we are from Smyrna, so just around the corner from eachother.

Hope all the dads have a great fathers day today. This is the first fathers day since dad passed away, will do the best I can.

Kim

The first year after a loved one passes is always the hardest. Kim remember that he lives in your heart and mind. Al least that is wha I had to do after my mom passed.

Happy Father's Day to all our fathers.!!!!!

Happy Fathers' Day!

Karibritt, where exactly are the wildfires? Just wondering. I'm meeting up with my mom in Statesville tomorrow so she can take my two youngest back towards the coast to stay with her for a week. She's in Ahoskie (1 hour north of Greenville), so she's not on the coast, but not too far. she didn't mention it this morning, so I was just wondering where it was happening.

Is the travel planning kit something everyone is supposed to get? If so, I may just have to give my TA a little ole' phone call, lol.

Kim, I said a prayer for you and your mom. For me, time has eased the hurt, but I still miss him.

Well, I gotta run over to my inlaws for a Father's Day lunch, so you guys have a great one.

Lori P. :)

Hi Lori. The wildfires are down near the Outer Banks. From the local news website:

The state Division of Air Quality said the unhealthy air will likely spread to the north and east, covering Edenton, Elizabeth City, Kill Devil Hills, Manteo, Nags Head, Plymouth and Washington.

As of right now, if they go towards a southern beach, they will be fine. The areas listed above are on Code Purple for air quality, and visibility is around 1/4 mile. Greenville has been bad, but I think is out of the thick of it for now.

Denise- whenever I find out our room # I'll pm you. I don't think it will be until
30 days before we leave. Wish it was sooner.

Here's a picture of my husband and I from our cruise in Feb 08.

Found us on page two. That just will not do!!!

I have a question. Janet and I are doing Capt Marvin's Stingray City 10 AM excusion in Grand Caymen. We booked this independently. That's not the question.

I really want to know if anyone else is looking to do the "Four Elements" excursion in Cozumel? It is a newer one but it just looks like a lot of fun. One day closer and still counting!!!

Wow! I am so far behind. I'm glad to hear the little girl was found, people are feeling better and that we are getting excited. My thoughts are with those of you who are under the weather or missing loved ones. WELCOME! to the new members:wave2:

Finally got the girls out of school then went on a 7 day trip on a bus with 70 jr high kids. YIKES! Tried to recover from that (severe ankle sprain on the last day) and catch up on laundry, only to ship my oldest off to DC, go to a soccer tournament then take the younger one to/from basketball camp all week. This is "summer vacation"!?:confused3 :rotfl: Oh well, at least it hasn't rained today! We have had enough rain lately to put out all of the wildfires. I think mother nature is confused. Either that or she's going through menopuase!:rotfl2:

I'm still waiting for my planning kit. Since we are now members of the castaway club, does anyone know how far out we can book our excursions, etc? Also, has anyone purchased travel ins? What are your thoughts on this? Iusually don't even consider it, but by FIL has cancer and if something should happen we are not able to go it may be nice to have? Would it even cover his death since we already know about the cancer?

I need to get to bed for now, but I will try to be here more often!
TTFN!:tigger:

Travel insurance; to have it or not? I have read many post about this. We will always have it. I just feel safer knowing I have it and if the worse happens I might be able to recoup some of mu cost.

We have alway gotten the insurance from DCL. I hear that there may be better and less expensive options out there but it was just easier to got with DCL option at this point.

So to answer your question about if you should get the travel insurance my answer is a resounding Yes!!! Lois

Janet,
Chris and I are looking to do a Stingray Excursion in GC. Our last one was canceled due to bad weather and we were SO disappointed! Can you tell me a bit more about Capt. Marvin's? I looked at the DCL ones (not Castaway Cay Stingray) and I wasn't sure which to do. Have you done Capt. Marvin's before? Thanks! :)

I have never done this excursion but my TA recomended it. This is the link she provided me to book it directly. Their web address is: http://www.captainmarvins.com/. I have heard from other cruiser that it is well worth our time. Lois

I will offer up another stingray suggestion in GC - NativeWay. We did the Western a few years ago and took one of their excursions (doing one this time as well) and had a great time. They really took very good care of us. I have heard good things about Capt Marvin as well. I do know, having been to Stingray City before - I would never (not ever) get on a boat that holds about 100 people. We watched them offload their passengers - by the time the last one got in the water, they had to load up again. NativeWay only takes about 25 people.
