10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

We have done a week at WDW twice now, but this is our first cruise ever. We are getting nervous and excited. Its tough to plan when you have no idea what to expect!

Well... I HAVE to get off of here and go pack. We are leaving town in an hour, and I have put it off long enough! Have a great weekend!

for those who are going on their first Disney Cruise you have little to worry about. There will be plenty for everyone to do and I am certain it will be your best vacation ever.

I love the sea days where I can relax and enjoy the ship. I really enjoy the food and getting to know the cast member esp my servers in the dining room.

If you have any questions ask away. I know it is hard to ask questions when you don't know what to expect. Lois

Christine,
Did you want to give FE gifts? If so, I have two days that only have 2 other people down for gifts and that is Wednesday/Cozumel and Thursday/At sea. Let me know which you'd prefer.

Yes I would like to be put down for the FE gift exchange, and so would my parents, I will have to get their cabin # to you later as I am not sure of it right now. You can put us each down for one of the two days you have open.

Mrs. Gumdrop, I would be interested in organizing something too.
The scrapbood exchange is something done ahead of time and we just plan a meet to exchange and show and tell. Each person in the group makes enough kits (or pages or whatever we decide) to be able to give one to each person. We each leave with a stack of stuff to use to make a scrapbook of the trip when we get home.
The cabin tour would require people on this thread to sign up to have us tour their cabin, hopefully we could cover each catagory. We would meet up then start the tour.
We could all get dressed up for the Pirate night and arrange a meeting in the atrium between dinner seatings and have a group photo taken, we may even be able to arrnage a character to be there.
On one cruise a group of people arranged a wonderful scavenger hunt for one of the at sea days. When we woke up the clues, riddles and questions were in our FE and we had all day to do it, it kept us and the kids very busy. At the end of the day we put them in the organizers FE and the next night we were given the results and little prizes for the winners.
Let me know if any of this is of interest to anyone.

Hi Christine & Fellow Buccaneers!!!
I like all of your ideas that you mentioned. I would be interested in a few of them! My husband just asked me tonight if we are going to have a DIS Meet when we board? I was shocked that he knew what that was! :scared1: I am very happy for his enthusiasm!!! :cool1: Let's see if we can get some of these things arranged!

Found us on page two so thought I would give us a little bump. Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I was a slacker yesterday - had a hair appoitment, went to the grocery and did a few loads of laundry and that was it. But, I celebrated an unbirthday yesterday so I decided I deserved a day off! But, that means that there can't be much slacking the rest of the weekend to be where I need to be when it is time to go on Tuesday morning.

I do have some sad news - well, I think it is sad. Ben and Kristie will not be coming on the cruise with us - he can't get the time off work to go so it will just be David and myself. I still need to cancel their reservation.

Have a great Sunday!!

Good Morning Everyone,

This is a good weekend for me. The 2 daughters of my oldest and dearest friend have come to spend the weekend with me. The oldest was my flower girl when I got married 17 years ago. She will be a senior this fall in college. Her sister just graduated from high school last week. Being an only child, it is like having my nieces coming to visit.

Gail, sorry to hear about Ben and Kristie.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words in support of us teachers. It is greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking back to a year ago today. We were leaving on our cruise on the Wonder. How I wish I were on it today! It just makes October seem so much closer.

Hope everyone has a great day. I've got to go and get ready for church.

Janet and I are up for the FE thing. I will need to know how many staterooms and how many kids and in general what their ages are. May make a difference in what I bring. Is someone on this thread collecting that information? If so let me know qwhat info you need and how many we currently have so I can begin to prepare. Thanks Lois

Good morning all! First official weekday off for the summer! I've semi-cleaned out the fridge, loaded the dishwasher, got a load of laundry going and now I'm taking a computer break and eating breakfast.

Gotta go make slaw for a picnic we're having this afternoon.

Lori P. :)

Chris and I are doing tons of yard work today. Since we both have off and it is nice outside, we are getting things done!
I was wondering where everyone is staying the night before the cruise??? Chris and I are flying in at 2pm on the 3rd and we are not sure where to stay. Is it better to stay at the Hyatt at the airport and then take the DCL transfer the next morning or is it better to spend the night at one of the hotels at the port?? (how would we get to those hotels at the port??) I don't know what to do and your input would be greatly apprecaited!! :yay:

We are staying at the Raddison at the port. I think some of the others are as well. It might not be an issue for you, but we have 11 & 14 year old girls to get moving in the morning :crazy2: so we opted to stay closer to port. We will reserve a town car from the airport to take us to the hotel then also prearrange transportation back to Orlando. We did this last time and it worked great.
Hope this helps!
Beth

We are flying in on the 2nd and staying at the Marriott close to the airport. We will be going back to the airport at 9:30 Sat. morning to hopefully catch the first Disney transfer to the port. We are going to the MNSSHP the night before also so it's more convenient for us to stay in Orlando.

Don't know if any of you follow motorsport (I don't normally) but a New Zealander won the Indy 500 :cool1:  :dance3: . Sorry but it's pretty exciting for us here.

My parents & brother are staying at the Hyatt the night before & getting a DCL transfer. They don't arrive til 6pm & I wanted to make things very easy for them after 2 days of travelling. Plus they don't want to try & drive on the 'wrong' side of the road (& I don't want them to either :scared1: ).

You ask where I will be staying the night before this cruise? I will be in stateroom 2560 on the Magic waiting for all of you:offtopic: !!! All kidding aside I would opt to stay at the Hyatt or another hotel close to the airport and take one of the first buses to the port. Many enjoy renting a car and staying close to the port. I am sure either way will work. A very hard decision. Lois

We are staying at the Raddison at the port. We stayed there last year and loved it. there is a good pizza place next door, plus there are other restaurants close by. The kids loved the pool, the shuttle worked great, and we loved the free parking. We were scheduled on then 10:00 a.m. shuttle, but actually left on an earlier one. We were at the port before they opened the gates. It was great being there early. You could get a towncar to the Raddison, use the free shuttle to go to the port, and then use Disney transportation to return to the airport.

Hope everyone had a great Monday.

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted sooner but my DGS and DIL were here for a visit. I got lots of sugars!

Okay,

Here's a breakdown of our kiddos:

Please check on post number 1 and make sure that Jan has your correct information. Please provide her with your cabin number as soon as you get it.

Also, if you want to receive a FE gift but don't want to give one, that's fine too. Just let me know that you're interested in just receiving only.

Gail,

Sorry to hear that Ben and Kristie are not able to join us. Now Miranda (our daughter-in-law) is saying she and Nate (our grandson) might cruise with us after all! Girlfriend needs to make up her mind! ;) I've given her until the end of June to let me know.

As for where we're staying before the cruise, we'll be driving from LA on Friday and will stop for the night in Jacksonville. We'll head for the port on Saturday morning about 8:30 am.

We are staying 4 nights after the cruise at the Ft Wilderness cabins.

a New Zealander won the Indy 500 :cool1:  :dance3:

Wynn was at that race. He goes every year with his buddies.

Denise: the breakdown of kids in the FE list... Are all those participating? Or is that all kids signed up from the first page? Just checking because I was really shocked to see all the kids on the list!

We had a great weekend visiting my sister and her family. The kids played so hard all weekend long, that I'm going to need a crowbar to get them out of bed in the morning! We got home about 9:30 tonight. I put them to bed, and have been trying to catch up on my email and DISing ever since. :surfweb:
