10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Does anyone have a digital camera that they love? Wynn lost ours :headache: on the cub scout campout a few weeks ago, so now we need to get a new one. I want high resolution, minimum shutter lag, and good zoom. Our last camera was a Sony Cybershot, and I liked it pretty well... but wanted to explore my options!

If you are looking for a small digital, I have two you should look at. I have a Nikon coolpix S600. I really like it. I alsojust bought my daughter a Canon Powershot SD 1100. I haven't received it yet, but I played with one at Best Buy this weekend and liked it. The only big difference in the two is features. There are some great resources on the web which can help you narrow down your choices. One I figured out which one I wanted I went to Nextag to get prices from different palces. Saved about $40 from buying it locally, which was enough to get a nice memory card for it.
One thing to keep in mind is the megapixles. So many cameras now have 8 mp and up it makes the need for a large zoom less. The quality of the photos is such that you can crop and enlarge them and not lose the quality. To speed up the lag time, get the highest speed memory card you can. The make SD cards with speeds of 80x and more. That really beats the older ones.

Hi everyone! My family could use a lot of pixi dust! My Dad went into the VA hospital this week with congestive heart failure. He is doing pretty well for a man in his condition but his heart is only functioning at 20%! Prior to his trip to the hospital he hadn't seen a doctor in at least a decade if not longer and he hasn't taken very good care of himself. Honestly, that fact that he sought help at all is a miracle. Over the last 2 months he gained 60 pounds of water weight that was really straining his already weak heart. Amazingly, he has lost 52 pounds of that weight over the last week! I am praying that he takes the doctors advice and takes better care of himself. I want a few more years with my Dad!

:grouphug: I am sorry to hear about your Dad. I speak with my Mom every weekend and sometimes Dad gets on the phone and we chat but the only time he calls me is to say Mom is in the hospital or sometimes to talk with Ben. Scares me every time! I do not like the age I have become as I really don't want to have to worry about aging parents (or aging Gail for that matter).

Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Sports with the boys has been very crazy this year.

Bumping us up from page 2.

Hope all has been well. need to get to catching up

Hi Everyone! Haven't been on in a while. Been swamped with work lately. We're getting really close!! Last night I made a paper chain for my 2 year old to be able to understand how much longer we have till we go on the "Mickey Boat"!!! She tells us everyday that she wants to go NOW!!! We just laugh and say "yeah, us too!"

Hi all! Only one more day with kids! YAYAYAY!!!! I love my students, but I am so ready for tomorrow afternoon, it's not even funny.

Getting ready to go to a dance at my school for our 8th graders. It'll be nice to see my kids from last year one last time before the year ends. A lot of them I've kept close to through Beta Club, or just keeping up with them. It's a little sad to see them so grown up in their dress up stuff.

Talk to you all later, sitter should be here in a bit,

Lori P. :)

Hope you had a grand time last night at the dance Lori. Funny how they grow. Today is Drew's last day. The Jr. Sr. Banquet was last night - he won the Teacher's Pet award. Can't decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing so will just let it go. Here is one of his proofs from his senior pictures - he was one busy boy.

But this one is my favorite of his pictures. See, I told you once I got this figured out you might all be sorry.

OK - have a great day everyone.

See, I told you once I got this figured out you might all be sorry.

Two can play that game!

What were Drew's activities? I'm guessing baseball, soccer, and band. (OK... the band and soccer were givens!) Great pics!

Tis is one of my favorites of very and Tucker from last summer. We were at the luau at Poly, and Avery was mad because Tucker wanted to share her chair. (His was behind a pole, and he couldn't see.) I crack up every time I see this one!

Mad, she looks exhausted.
I love the pictures, keep them coming.

No... that's her version of the eye rolling! She was going for "disgusted." She slept about 2 hours before we got there, so she was good to go. We went to MK after that and stayed until 2AM.

Avery is adorable - and looks to be sort of ticked that her brother was in such close proximity.

Drew's activities included soccer (goalie, 3 year letter, team captain, MVP) track, band (tuba in pit, marching and concert bands) and NHS. It isn't reflected in the picture but he was also president of Drama Club this year and participated in the productions all 3 years (and student director this year).

Hello fellow cruisers, I am very late to the party:sad2: We are going to be joining you on this cruise and then staying on for the next. We were very spoiled by the westbound 2005 repo cruise and now 7 days just does not seem long enough. Our travelling party for this cruise is
DD6
DS10
DD13
Dgrandma 70ish first DCL cruise
Dgrandad 70ish (but older than DGM (by a lot if you ask her)) first DCL cruise
Me-DM
On the next cruise it will be all the above plus DH, DS 16 and his friend 15.
We are staying in Cat.10 on level 2. I heard there is someone else here who is also doing back to backs. We are mostly doing this cruise for my parents, they are not comfortable going too, too far from home just the 2 of them anymore and they are so excited about this trip. We are not taking them as extra help, this is their trip. We have already set up a rewards program for the kids for when they have to play "go fing the grandparents" as we are sure, and so are they, that they will spend the better part of the trip lost on board:laughing:
I will not be able to read al the previous posts so if someone wants to give me a run down on what is going down that would be fantastic.
Thanks,
Chrisitne

Welcome Christine  . There are 2 groups (I think that's all) of us doing the previous weeks cruise (27 Sept - 4 Oct). I don't remeber if anyone is doing the week after though.

Gail - Drew is a handsome young man. The pictures are great. How did he fit all the activities in with school work :scared1: .

Kari - I love the first picture :lmao: . You have very cute kids.

Hope you all have a good rest of the week.

Tania

Hi Christine! Glad you found us! My DD will be 6 on the cruise, and DS turns 10 this week. This is our first cruise, so I hope they enjoy it.

I think my kids are cute... glad everyone agrees! But, since I am never wrong, it was pretty much a sure thing! :lmao:

Welcome to the group. Janet and I are one of the groups doing a back to back but it is the 9/27 and the 10/4. We were book on the 10/11 but canceled it so add WDW before the cruises. I have not done a back to back but hear that it is twice the fun.

Christine,
Welcome!!!!!!!!!:yay: I only wish we could do back to back. I have a daughter who just turned 14 this month. She is anxious to meet other kids her age! What are your daughters interests? Maybe the girls could exchange e-mails of chat on the Jr's board. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1693102
Have a great week!
Beth

Welocome Christine and Family!!!

DH and I were in WDW this past weekend. We had a great time and stayed at Pop Century. We were lucky enough to ride Toy Story Midway Mania 4 times!! :cool1: Had a great time!!
We have decided to extend our time in FL after the cruise. We are going to WDW for 4 days and going to MNSSHP. I love the Hallowen Party and cannot wait!!

Our time is getting closer!! DH told me last night that he is so excited for our cruise and cannot wait! I love his enthusiasm!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. We are all so excited about this trip and it is coming up so fast, the summer will just fly by and Sept. is always so busy Oct. will be here before we know it!!:yay:
So, what has this group got planned? Are we doing fish extenders? Treasure hunt? Cabin tour? Scrapbook exchange? Pirate Night photo? Recipe Exchange? If you are I would like in, if we are not should we do some of these things? Sorry if I am over zealous:upsidedow
Christine
