10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Good morning to everyone. Thanks you all for the thoughts and prayers that our family has needed in this time. Today will be my first day back at work and hoping that will go well. Mom it trying to sell he home. They had planned on moving and had actually found a home the night before dad went to the hospital. We are hoping she takes it because that will mean 5 minutes away instead of 45:cool1:

Off to work hope everyone has had a good week.

Kim

Hi Kim: So sorry to hear about your dad. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We are getting 2 of our 6 grandchildren for an overnight visit.

The whole gang was together two weeks ago -- 8 adults and 6 kids. What fun we had!

Oh Kim, I am so sorry about your father. I lost mine suddently when my second son was three weeks old. (10 1/2 years ago). I don't care how old you are, losing a parent is hard. Watching my mom go through it was the hardest part.

I just finished my first full week of school with my students. Not too bad, except the window unit ac in my room is not exactly doing its job. My noon it is HOTTTT in my room. We're having highs of 103 here in Chattanooga. I am praying for some relief pretty soon. Our sports programs are starting up and I feel so sorry for the kids.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Found us back on page 4 and thought we could use a bump. I hope you are all doing well and the back to school process has not been too hard on everyone. We don't go back until the day after Labor Day so nothing to report from here. I expect that since my baby is a senior in high school this year, I will have a harder time with his last first day then he will. :sad1: And I hope it cools off for those of you in the south too. We had a few hot spells this summer but nothing close to 100 degrees or more.

Everyone have a good week everyone!

Thanks for "rescuing" us Gail, lol.

My students have been back for three weeks, and it's been a pretty good start. It's just been too dang hot to be in school. My room is in the oldest part of the building, and I'm surviving with a window unit that works sometimes and four fans. It did get down to around 88 or so today. Thought I'd have to break out my jacket:)

I guess I'd better go, I have to create a test for my kids tomorrow.

Wow, you guys have been back to school for 3 weeks already!!?? My kids don't start until next Wednesday Sep 5th:eek:
Have not been on the boards much......just got back from a 9nt cruise on the Explorer of the Seas:banana: . Great time, but my favorite is still DCL!!:cloud9:

We've been in school for four weeks tomorrow. I'm ready for fall break! Thank goodness we have a long weekend this weekend.

Bring on the Wonder!!
:cool1:

ETA: That sounded confusing! I don't think I've posted since we booked the four day trip this year. The first week of school I decided that I couldn't make it another year without the cruise! :lmao:

Happy Labor Day all! I finally have a day off :cool1:
I hope everyone else is able to enjoy the day :thumbsup2

Only 395 days to go. :)

Happy Labor Day to all!

Not getting much rest here today, but my bathroom will be so clean, lol. I'm finally making myself scrub down every inch of my boys' bathroom. All the toothpaste on the walls and sink, as well as the stuff that I don't even want to know what it is:lmao: It will take me two hours to clean and then 15 minutes for them to mess it up again.

Hey buzznut, thanks for the countdown days. I bet once we get to under a year, the time will go a lot faster. There's just something about knowing we've got less than a year that makes it more real. Wait a minute....I'd better start saving some money!!!

Talk to you guys later!
Lori P. :)

Party of 3 ready to cruise again. DH, DS (10), and myself. I am already checking out the boards and it's over a year away. Got the fever already.

Welcome Pinky3 and family!!!

I just added you and your family to post #1.

My DH and I will be on the Wonder for the DVC cruise in 6 weeks 4 days.

Several DISers from the last cruise we were on (November 2007) are heading to East Lansing, MI on the 15th for the MSU-Pittsburgh game. It'll be great having this mini reunion.

Hope all is going well with this back to school time of year. I have two grandchildren who started kindergarden this past week.

Hi! We are also cruising Oct 4th, 2008, Western Carib!! This will be my DH and my second cruise. Our first was in Oct 2004 for our honeymoon. We did and 4 night land and sea for that one. This time, we'll be taking my daughter, who will be just shy of 3, my mom and my best friend. I can't wait!! Only 386 more days to go!!!!

Hope everyone has had a good week. Tomorrow is Friday:cool1: :cool1:

That means only 15 more days and we head to WDW:banana:
Boy do we need this vacation:banana: We got my mom moved closer to us last weekend, that was a hard job, but so glad she is a mile away instead of 45. Now she is talking about joining us on the cruise.

Got to get all the boys in bed because of school tomorrow. Talk to you all soon

Kim

Welcome Pinky and Honeymooner! Glad to have you on board.

Whew! School has taken over my life. I feel as though I'm either dealing with my students' work or my own four children's work or trying to get some person to some practice or some game somewhere, lol.

We're nearing October folks! Pretty soon, we'll be celebrating the under a year mark. The cruise has sort of slipped to the back of my mind with school starting back, but it wouldn't take much for it to front seat again.:goodvibes

We're supposed to have a nice weekend here in Chattanooga. Sunny days around 81 degrees or so. After weeks and weeks of temps between 95-103, having a temp of 81 sounds downright cool.:cold:

Kim, how is your mom? The hardest part of losing my dad was what I knew my mom was going through.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Lori P. :)

I was wondering is there is room for a few more on this thread. We just booked for 9/27/08, 10/4, & 10/11. There is myself and my partner of 20 years.

Wow Grandma! You are most certainly welcome, but I must say I'm a little green with envy of all your booked trips, lol.:thumbsup2

Have any of you ever felt like your life is just not your own? (I know that's a rhetorical question b/c anyone with kids knows this:) )

Last week, my son and I got to our school, and he throws up in the garbage can. DH is in KY, so I take the day off from work. Being out Wed. threw all my lesson plans off for the next two days, but we managed.

Today, my third DS needs to go to the doctor, so I call in for a 1/2 day sub, noone shows up, but fortunately my DH changes his schedule to take him, so I'm okay to stay and work and teach. But WAIT! I now remember that three of my sons have dental appts. at 2:30. My DH can meet me there at 2:30 after picking up the other two from elem. school, and my inclusion teacher can watch my class for the last 15 min. of school, so I leave and remember that oldest didn't make his consultation with an orthodontist who is right next to the dentist. So...someone will hopefully be taking his Thursday at 9:30. WHEW!!!

Sorry to bore you and don't really expect anyone to read all of this, but it helps me to vent, lol.

My Sunday School hall leader is leaving on the Wonder on Sunday. Yesterday, I was like a lovesick girl. I kept thinking of things to tell her and saying,"Just one more thing!" I wouldn't let her leave my room, I guess I was trying to live vicariously through her. Oh, well....one day my "ship" will come...

Later!
Lori P. :)

Welcom Honeymooner2004 and Grandma4ever!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Our group is growing!

We are looking forward to our next cruise on the Wonder -- countdown is 4 weeks and 6 days.

Grandma4ever -- wish I could add 3 back to backs in my signature line! Good for you!!! I'm a grandma too -- six precious angels all under the age of 5.

Honeymooner2004 -- We just entertained some DiSers from Pittsburgh this weekend for the Pitt-MSU game. We met jd99 and his family on our last cruise on the Magic. Another DIS family came up from the Detroit suburbs to join in our mini reunion. We travel through Pittsburgh frequently as my DS, DD-i-l and 2 grandchildren live in Morgantown.

Have a great week everyone.

Hello everyone. Long time, no post.

Welcome to all the new cruisers :goodvibes !

Grandma4ever - we are on the 9/27/08 cruise as well :cool1:.

It's spring - the sun is shining and the temperatures have warmed up a lot.

We are in the last week of term 3. It's been very busy. Had school speeches (my DS won his age group), school cross country (my DD came 3rd in her age group), my DS's 8th birthday and my DD's ballet production. My DH is doing his black belt grading for tae kwon do tomorrow (Thursday).

We are going to Cairns, Australia next Wednesday for a week :yay: (we have 2 weeks school holidays) Then we're into the last term of school and my DD's 11th birthday.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Tania

Lori

Mom seams to be doing ok. At least that is what she wants us all to think. She is going to Michigan this weekend to see her sister, so I hope that will help.

We are leaving next Friday for WDW for a week. Guess I need to start thinking about what we need to get packed.

We are off to bed early tonight. We were back in the ER last night with DS12. Had a bad cut on his finger and needed 14 stitches. But doing better tonight just really sore.

Talk to you all later
Kim

Tania,
You do sound pretty busy and cograts to your kids for doing so well! I'm sure they have a proud mom standing by.

My DS11 decided to do cross country this year (first year in middle school), but he's a little stricken with the slow man's disease. He did manage to improve his time by 1 1/2 minutes over the last 5 weeks though, so we're proud. His dad told him we'd buy him some Nike Shox once the season was over, but then he went to the store and saw the $100+ price tag and decided that he'd give him $60 towards a pair. He had NO idea how much those things cost.

Kim, I'm glad to hear that she's keeping busy. That's what my mom did, and I think it kept her sane. The pain was still there, but sitting around in empty house all the time would have made it worse, I think.

Sorry to hear about your son. With a house of boys, we'd better keep those insurance premiums paid, huh? LOL My oldest has broken his arm 3 times, 1 set of stitches; my 10 year old has had 2 broken arms (within 6 months) and 2(?) sets of stitches; DS7 has had 3 sets of stitches, all in the face, and my DS6 has only had one set of stitches, but it was where it counted, right on the bottom!

I am so "homesick" for this cruise. Yesterday in class, I had my laptop hooked up to the projector for a math lesson, and since it sat idle for a few minutes, the screen saver came on. Guess what it is? Pictures of my '05 Wonder trip. I should have just turned it off, but my students asked me to let it play, so we took a 5 minute math break to look at DCL pics.
