Hello all!

I just switched our reservation to your cruise date! It will be our 3rd DCL vacation (we disembarked from the Magic one year ago today :sad2: ) and although it will be a longer wait, we are all excited to be joining in your fun! ;)

I'm Sheri-Kindergarten teacher, mom to sons Dakota and Austin (17 and 15 at the time we sail), and wife to Pat, a sergeant with our local Sheriff's office.

We live in Northern Nevada and are in the midst of a great snow storm!

I recognize some of your Dis-names and am looking forward to getting to know you! On our last Eastern it was really fun to recognize people from the Disboards that I'd been chatting with for months!

Welcome to the thread Sheri. I'm Jeff and will be sailing with my DW, Suz, and our DS who will be 9 at the time of sailing. We are from Wisconsin, which you will see about 6 of us or more from here - it is over our teachers' convention week, so we only have to pull the kids out 3 days.

You will find we're are a very talkative group, but very welcoming as well.

I will warn you upfront that there will be a lot of posts on this thread, but don't feel like you have to read back to keep up with us. Just jump in where we're at. Anything of importance will be updated in the first post.

So you've done the Eastern before, what other itins did you do?

Hi Sheri - welcome to the thread!! We're a chatty group but very friendly, so please jump right in and join the fun with us. :goodvibes

I'm Brenda ... I believe I may be the resident lunatic but I'm harmless. ;)

Harmless? :confused3 Just don't let her beat you with her fake leg. :rotfl2:

Don't worry, Sheri. I save that kind of treatment for AFEG (A Fat English Gent ... he's a British cruiser that I'm nursing a "secret" passion for) when he starts giving me trouble about flashing for ice cream. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good night all. I've got wedding stuff to do tomorrow. Ya-hoo!

Nighters!

I'm out, too. My head is ready to bust (stupid weather) and I've got stuff I brought home from work to get done tomorrow while Jason is at work.

Have fun with the wedding stuff!

Good Night All, it's been a long day............

Hi Brenda!

:cheer2: Welcome Sheri, Pat, Dakota and Austin! Brenda is right, we are chatty but harmless but she's not the only lunatic on this thread. :rotfl2:

I'm Nancy and cruising with DH Chuck and perhaps our grown children, Tony, Stacy, Kristin and Jesse.

Hi Nancy! I hope that my kids will still cruise with me when they are grown! Right now living with 2 teenage boys, I can't even get a hug on a regular basis! Good thing I'm around 5 year olds all day! They can't keep their hands off me!:confused3

Hi Jeff! I'll admit-I lurked yesterday when my hubby was snowed in at Tahoe. :rolleyes1 You are a chatty group, but sooo nice!

What is teachers week? We cruised in November 2005 around Veterans Day and 1/2 the state New Jersey was at DW with us.

Our previous Disney cruises have been a 4 day in 2005 and then an Eastern in January of 2007. We loved the Eastern (Well, we loved one of our Excursions so much that we wanted to do it again!).

I've got some stories to hear, huh? :woohoo: popcorn::

I've spent most of my day working on a video presentation gift for Angelina. It took longer than I thought because I had to keep stopping to wipe the tears from my eyes. This video turned out to be more emotional than I thought it would.

I used a couple songs on the video that really set the tone, "In My Daughter's Eyes" and "You Raised Me Up" listening to those two songs, while looking at all the pics was just too much, but it's something I've wanted to do for quite sometime now.
OK Andy now you have me crying. I told you this would be an emotional year.

Welcome Sheri!!!!!!
I'm Lori cruising with DH Scott, girl Alex, Julia, and Harrison ages 13, 5, 4 (cruise ages). We are also cruising with my sister (arielhead) and her family and our dad. We are a crazy group and have lots of fun. Can't wait to hear more from you!

Good morning everybody:goodvibes

We actually have a bit of sunshine today! - it'll be freezing but at least the wind has stopped and the trees arent bent double.

Might even venture out the house today:laughing:

Our reservation is also with DU and it sounds like Nancy is switching hers over, too. :thumbsup2

Mine too! I like the sound of a group discount. I have so many discounts they'll be paying me to go soon:rotfl2:

What's been going on?
I saw a post about a group rate...
I guess I have some catching up to do.

I wasn't even on here yesterday.
We spent part of the day in the emergency room yesterday.

Mike has been painting his parent's ceiling while they are in Fla. He came home Thurs. saying he was a little dizzy. I said, "Then you better not go over there tomorrow until you feel better"

Of course, he went anyway... I called him from work and he said he was done, but felt really dizzy and had some shortness of breath. (He had been laying on the floor as the room spinned.) He said he was going to drive home. I said, "You can't drive when you're dizzy." After a while, it didn't get any better, so I left work and picked him up, then took him to the emergency room.

After a few tests...
They said he has vertigo caused by a virus. The shortness of breath is due to his pacemaker. (needs tweeked)

So he was tossing his cookies most of the night. :sad1:
The nausea is gone now, but the dizziness hasn't gotten any better.

They said it would take a couple of days before it goes away.

:grouphug: :grouphug: Big hugs zooming their way from England:grouphug: :grouphug:

Gotta love that. :woohoo:

Mike can't ride Teacups in Fantasyland. He can barely watch it.
I asked him if vertigo was like being on Teacups.

He said "Shut Up" :rotfl2:

I guess that means yes. :rotfl:

Me too - cant even watch them and yet I love the huge coasters - just nothing "spinny"

Would they give a group discount on top of the already 10% off that most of us have? If not, would the group rate be as good as the 10%?

I would doubt that we'd get both, but if you need another room and it can be combined, I'm game. I haven't moved my ressie anywhere yet, so I will join you guys.

Sorry Nancy, I'm not getting the Dreams $200. If I do xfer it out, I will only get $50 ($100 if I would have done it before 12/31). The Cat 8-12 only get the lower OBC. It's those uppity people in the Cats 4-7 that get the larger credit. :rotfl:

I got $100 with dreams:woohoo:

Hi Sheri! Welcome to the thread!

I'm Jen, and I'm cruising with my hubby Pete and our son Thomas who will be 6 when we cruise. Some of my family will be going too-my mom, my MIL and FIL and BIL and SIL with their 2 boys, ages 4 and 6. I'm one of the Wisconsinites also, and this is my second DCL cruise. I'm looking forward to the Eastern cruise - I can't wait to start planning excursions.

I also enjoyed seeing fellow DISers all over the ship on our last cruise. We'll be planning a DISmeet on board for sure....maybe more than one!

Well Bobalosers I am back to drinking my lattes at Starbucks, non-fat sugar-free hazelnut latte......boy am I going to miss those pepermint mochas.:guilty:

Sounds good!

I've been taking coffee from home to work....but I might have to try that! DH got a Starbucks gift card for Christmas, but he never goes there.

Our previous Disney cruises have been a 4 day in 2005 and then an Eastern in January of 2007. We loved the Eastern (Well, we loved one of our Excursions so much that we wanted to do it again!).

It's not really a teachers' "week", rather a two day convention on the last Thur/Fri of October. All the schools in WI are closed those 2 days. You will need to book airfare early as it fills up quickly, especially all the Orlando flights (what's funny though is that the Las Vegas flights fill up too - must be some teachers taking off for the weekend as well and not going to the convention). What a lot of parents do up here is take the kids out for the other 3 days that week. This way, you have a one week vacation that only costs the children 3 days of school and it is not over a holiday when it tends to be busy in WDW.

Which excursion did you do on the Eastern that you liked? I've been on the Eastern twice already and have done the St. Thomas island tour (along with going to Meghan's Bay on our own) and then the second time doing the St. John island tour, but this time we want to get to Trunk Bay (I'll have to post my pictures again - beautiful).

Morning.
We have done the eastern twice also. We have done Trunk Bay and LOVED that excursion. We will probably be doing that one again. We also have done the island on our own and went to Coral World.
I can't wait to get back to those eastern islands. They are so much prettier than the western I think.
