Karennnnnnnnnnn tell them what else it can mean.......:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

:rolleyes1 no idea what you mean:rolleyes1

We just had a few warm days, but nothing went over 90*.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: warm..... 90..... we'd call that a miracle/heatwave/... we'd have hosepipe bans all across the country and people would be like sardines on any bit of beach that wasnt already taken by white Brits tryiong to get a tan in a day before it rained again!:lmao:

Just after I posted this morning, we came up on an accident--really quickly, in pitch black! It was a close one for us for sure. We ran over a bumper that was knocked off of one of the cars. After pulling over,Rob went to see if anyone needed any help. Luckily everyone was ok, but I don't know how. The smaller car was smashed to bits. And the traffic was very fast!:scared1:

Stay safe Paige

I'm off to Hallmark. It's their christmas ornament sale today!!! See y'all at least $150.00 from now!!!

Oooooooh! - I love Hallmark ornaments - have fun shopping:yay: :yay: - we always get the current ones when we're over there (or I get them shipped which costs a fortune, dont tell Neil;) :rolleyes1 )

Did a big workout this morning, Ellis did his class and footie training while Neil and I did the gym.

I burned off nearly 500 calories then did ten lengths in the pool. Neil burned off nearly 1000 calories:scared1: - he's just showing off:snooty:

Way to go both of you!!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I was dragging my butt around after my 450 calorie burn off this morning.......:rotfl:

Good Morning everyone!

Off to have the hair dresser clear out all this gray hair that sprouted this week. Sean loves it, but I told him that I am too young for gray hair, and that when I am 60 I may consider it. (btw 60 isn't old either but I think it is a good age to accept gray hair)

Well our heat wave is over. We have gone from 107 to 87 in 2 days. Lovin that because I don't have to run the AC. By the way east coaters if you can send some of that rain our way I would appreciate it. We still have a lot of fires going on here.

Ok does anyone understand how the "Related threads" at the bottom of the page relate to this thread?:confused3 :confused3

Lina has 2 grad parties to go to today, they both start at 2pm, and are only 2 blocks from each other, a lot of 2's going on 2day..........:rotfl2:

Howdy Becky, it's afternoon here on the east coast.........

Would love to send you rain during the week!!!

Hello everyone.
We just got back from our Las Vegas trip (which was essentially to pick up the kids from their grandparents house) I see everyone was as chatty as usual!

I noticed some weather / temperature posts before I decided to skip catching up on reading the board. That was our one problem in LV... temp was 116 while we were there! And to add to that...the air conditioning at my in-laws' house wasn't working right...up to 90 in the house! With some very nice fans and a separate little air conditioning unit, the back room was nice and cool, though.

One great thing we did was to see "Phantom of the Opera" at the Venitian. It was a really great show! Andrew Lloyd Webber had worked with them to create an amazing 95 minute version of the play...complete with pyrotechnics on stage. We had 2cnd row center seats. Matthew gets a boatload of brownie points for arranging it!!!

Sounds wonderful Beth, except for the "HEAT" that is..........;)

Talking of sayings... I tend to type what I think (yeah I know thats a frightening thought in itself!:rotfl2: ),... but I often change my text thinking "they wont know what I mean by...." etc, and other times words such as "footie" I automatically think of as a "real" word and forget to put the proper word (football) in its place instead. Same with the word "buttie"... that to us is a sandwich.... used in every day language - cant remember the last time I said the word "sandwich" - no-one round here says it, they all use "buttie".

Neil has even recently bought a t shirt with the word "Bostin" across the front. Thats a local word meaning "great, brilliant."

Another would be "tara-a-bit" - another local word - the literal translation is "goodbye for a bit" - in other words "see you later".

So, what words if any do you use that we dont?

I dont mean stuff like faucet - we call it a tap etc, I mean slang words that you use in everyday life.

Just for fun - I'd like to learn some "Americanisms":goodvibes

Karen, it's a little hard to come up with "Americanisms" that work everywhere! There are literally phrases only used in certain cities! Plus, regional differences across the country make for some interesting communication issues. Also, we Americans seem adept at adding slang on a daily basis!
