All alone it looks like on a Monday that totally feels like a Sunday.

Our friend just showed up to cut our hair, so I'm out.

Have a great Memorial Day everyone. :cool1:

Jeff, you're on a roll this morning!!! (posting)

I took this ENTIRE week off of work. Amelia is graduation pre-preschool on Wednesday. I'm hoping to get some painting done.

Yeah, I saw you guys were getting hit in the St.L area. I was thinking about you.

We're done now for at least a few days it looks. Not sure how much we even got, but it seemed like a good rain.

We had some incredible lightning almost all night long - picked up more than three inches of rain in 24 hours and it's supposed to rain again later today and tomorrow.

We're something like 12 inches over our rainfall average for the year, but the sad thing is that in another three-to-four weeks it will get really hot and we'll end up in mini-drought conditions. It's crazy.

We were lucky here at the house that every time the power went out it only stayed off for a minute or two ... the sump pump has been running constantly since last night. And we didn't have any hail - closer to where I work there were reports of golf ball sized hail overnight.

So I am rethinking going to Vegas in October, I really don't want to be without my princess for 5 days so I am thinking we should drive down the west coast all the way to San Diego (Rob's head office is there). We could do DL and DCA, San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, some beach time etc.

She's not used to being in a car for more than an hour or so, so it might be a little stressful but we will make sure we stop a lot.

So, thinking back on road trips when you had 2 year olds....

Is this a bad idea???

Any tips from you pros out there???

She will be fine. Remember we just did 14 hours in a car with Harrison!!!! EACH WAY!. He was great. As long as he had a drink when HE wanted a drink and a snack when HE wanted a snack all was good with the world. If you don't have a dvd player in your car then look into getting one that hooks on the back of your seat. He loved watching his favorites (Cars and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). I'm sure she will do better than you expect her too.:thumbsup2

Welcome home Andy. Sorry to hear of Lina's "Paige and Karen" moment. I would have DIED!

Cass, flying will be good.
Also, can you add me to the tag list?

Tanya, do you want to do tag?

Cass, I loved the pic with all your arms up. That is sooooo cute that Kira did it too.:cutie:

Glad all you midwesterners are fine after the storms. I always think of you all when I hear about bad storms your way.

Suz was going to repaint the service door to the garage again today, but it is so stinkin humid out here.

Looks like the rain is done though.

Up to yesterday, we had maybe an inch of rain the whole month. Haven't checked to see how much we got last night.

Speaking of the sump pump, I remember at the old house, it would run about every minute in a heavy rain. Our lot was below the two bordering us (we were on a corner). The slope still went down from us, but our drain tile still got filled.

In the winter when we'd have melting, it would run constently as well. One year, because it pumped out on the lawn, the water ran to the sidewalk (had them on both sides of the house), we had about 2 inches of ICE for about 75 feet. Took me forever to get it off the side walk. After that, I turned the pump to the utility tub in the winter time so it went into the sewer. :rolleyes1

You're like us, I think. The thought of going away with out children sounds great at the time and for quite some time afterwards, but then when it comes time to either go or really start the planning the excitement fades and you cannot imagine leaving them behind. :(

yikes, that was a long run on sentence!!!

LOVE the pics you found on your photopass. Glad you got to them before they expired! :cutie:

Yup, just us in Vegas sounded wonderful :goodvibes And you're so right, now that I am beginning to plan it, it doesn't sound so great anymore :(

My in-laws have had the photopass CD for quite some time, they just never forked it over to me until now :rolleyes1

I know this is probably a silly idea, but have you ever thought of just looking at what cheaper flights you can get from where you are and then seeing what there is to do at those destinations?

Unfortunately we don't get flight deals like you guys. We don't have the population or the airlines :headache: Even a flight to Edmonton ( a 3 hour drive north) is like $200! and nobody wants to go to Edmonton :lmao:

Cass, flying will be good.
Also, can you add me to the tag list?

I've added you Lori :thumbsup2

Well, I looked into flights last night and they are almost as expensive as flying to WDW. I couldn't find anything less than $550

Oh and Melody, if we make a stop in San Diego, Rob gets to write off a good portion of the trip ;)

Still gotta do more planning before we decide for sure :goodvibes

May your sump pump never stop running and your rain stop falling B. ::yes::

We didn't get a drop of rain. The clouds to the north had an incredible lightning show though.

:wave2: Hi Janice!

Weather's been beautiful here for the last few days.... 70's to 80.
Not a drop of rain yet, but I think later this afternoon.:sunny:

Andy, Welcome home!

Sorry your trip didn't go as well as you were hoping for but at least you weren't working!:thumbsup2

I hope Angelina had a good trip:cutie:

Sorry to hear about her unfortunate episode:eek:

Hello Bobbers:goodvibes - I'm back! I survived! Just had a deep hot bath to wash the beach out of my hair.

I have photos - (lots;) ) - I'll uplaod tomorrow.

Karen, have a fantastic trip!!!!!

We had a lovely time - thank you:hug:

when Jay and I were last in DC (summer 2003) we spent an entire afternoon at the Holocaust Museum and it was absolutely incredible - emotionally wrenching and strangely illuminating.
I know it's not possible, but I really think it should be mandatory for people to visit there.

It is a truly moving place. We did it in Berlin - I have never known a place so silent and yet full of people. No-one spoke the whole time except for a few whispers.

I just taught Anne Frank this year for the first time in several years (back in 8th grade). Anyway, it all hit me again, it is always moving to see how involved all the kids get. Have you heard of PaperClips and Freedom Writers. I used those movies (with permission) in the unit.

Many of the kids chose Anne Frank as their most memorable character of the school year.

We did her house in Amsterdam a few years ago. Another amazing place

Have a great time Karen....safe travels. I'm sure you do your share of......can I have:thumbsup2 :lmao:

:rolleyes1 Me?:confused3 ... can I have?:lmao: - I would have if I could find anything I wanted to buy:rolleyes1

I haven't had time to see the live shows, but I've got it on tape to watch back. Tend to look out for the Floral arranging marque and spin through the rest. I have also been working out how to upload to my IPOD, so not much time for TV.

I sky plussed them all too:rotfl: - I guessed you'd be watching the marque stuff.

Hangover for me:sick:

Drank too much wine at a party last night. :drinking:
Room was spinning much of last night while I tried to get comfortable
to sleep:crazy2:

But we had a good time a the party:)

I really hate that Bob works night now.
We left the party at 9 and he dropped me off at home and got ready for work.
He went home this morning after work to sleep, so now that it's a holiday and
I'm off and it's nice out I'd have to do something alone because he has to sleep until 3 or so.

So I guess I get to go out and do some yard work:headache:
