So I am rethinking going to Vegas in October, I really don't want to be without my princess for 5 days so I am thinking we should drive down the west coast all the way to San Diego (Rob's head office is there). We could do DL and DCA, San Diego Zoo, Seaworld, some beach time etc.

She's not used to being in a car for more than an hour or so, so it might be a little stressful but we will make sure we stop a lot.

So, thinking back on road trips when you had 2 year olds....

Is this a bad idea???

Any tips from you pros out there???

our ds and wife drove to wdw last xmas with addison. about 18 hr drive.
she did remarkably well.:thumbsup2 they borrowed our portable dvd player for her to watch disney sing alongs.:thumbsup2 they said she slept a lot of the way.princess:

Hoping for some storms here tonight. They're building to the West. Looks like Janice and Mark should have some right now. Those will go to the north of here, but there is a nice cell building in IA that hopefully will roll through over night if it doesn't die out.

We are bad need of rain up here.

you trying to say you guys are in "dyerneed" of some rain?:rotfl2:

It's been storming here since about 7:30 this evening ... on top of the three storms we had this morning. It looks like we're going to have one long stormy night - power went out again around 9PM which is bad because our pump has been running in the basement due to all the rain. :scared:

Never a dull moment here in the Armpit of the Midwest.

You're welcome to it Jeff - I think we're supposed to get more of the same tomorrow.

great pics cass.!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
and if we were you....we'd take kira to DL.princess:
its only been 5 months since they took addison and they're already saying they cant wait to go back because just in the last 5 months she's talking up
a storm and watches pooh and mickey cartoons on tv and can identify the
characters more now.:cheer2: :wizard:

First, great pics Cass. I like the last one best too.

Second, we took both the kids to Florida when they were 2. They really did sleep almost the entire time. I think Kira will be just fine. :thumbsup2

Yes we are Mike. We have some thunderstorms rolling through right now but not the one's that Cass and I love the best. Gotta love those loud cracks of thunder and then the whole sky lights up!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That's an awesome idea Mike! Thanks :goodvibes Did they do all the driving during the day, do you know??

Yeah, I like that idea better than going to vegas on our own :thumbsup2 I am just worried cus she squirms in her seat when we go visit Grandma & Grandpa and that's only 45 mins :scared:

Think so MG? MG is always right, so lookout California (and Idaho, Washington, Oregon too!) here we come :cool1:

Ooooh I miss those!!!! We only get them here in July/August.

Google has really cool mapping/direction thing! You type in your starting address and your ending address and it comes up with a route for you, then if you want to change your route, you just drag the purple route and voila!
Shows you KMs or Miles and directions too! :cool1:

It's 2610 KMS (about 1630 miles) from here to San Diego on the most direct route but the route I want to take is about 3143 Kms (about 1965 miles)

That's a lot of driving :scared:

4000 miles roundtrip!

Love the pics Cass!!!

Just got home with our sweetie after a mercy trip through the McDonald's drive thru..........:lmao:

Seems like Miss Lina had quite a few adventures of her own the past few days. As she was getting on the boat for the three hour dinner cruise, her dress kind of blew up in the air, when she went to correct that problem, the "girls" got exposed. She said she felt like jumping off the boat. Looks like "the family curse" was busy in Chicago as well as Florida............:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We've always taken the kids wherever with us. When possible, we break the trip in half. It seems like we leave right after work alot and drive for several hours. When the kids were littler, they would go to sleep not long after supper and sleep a long way.

Oooh, sleeping is good :goodvibes

Ok, I just ran the numbers...(where is number boy when you need him!) and I don't think we will be driving :sad2:

I figured it would cost us about $1000 in gas alone (and that's with a hybrid!) then 7-8 nights in a hotel ($750 on the cheap side) then about 14 days of food (lots of $$$ the way Rob eats!) and we haven't done anything yet! :scared1:

I am going to look into some flights now :rolleyes1

Just stopping in to say hi to everyone! Hope you all are having a nice weekend so far. We have my brothers wedding today. Not looking forward to it but glad it is here and tomorrow it will all be over!!! The only good thing about this weekend is that I get to see my cousins and their 2 little ones!! I so love them. :lovestruc We had fun running around yesterday. Went downtown and did some shopping and had a nice lunch and then back up to mom and dads for a cook out. Very nice time.
Well I have to get going. I have some things to do before I need to be dressed and out the door.
Have fun gang!!

Hope it wasn't too bad for you Shelley.

Oh oh oh! I have a cruise question!!! :yay:

So my friends Sean & Bernie booked a cat 12 GTY through Dreams. Those cabins only hold 3 people but they have 4 people booked. I saw their DU reservation page and it says they have 4 people booked in 12 GTY.

Does this mean that they will automatically be bumped to a cat 11 :confused3

I read somewhere that they'll get automatically upgraded to a Cat 11...think it was in the Passporter book.

Oh wow, those are some awesome pics :thumbsup2 I'm sad to report that I didn't win the 27 Million and won't be joining you guys on the EB repo  :sad1:

Thats a shame Cass.

Sunday May 25, 2008

Woke up at 5am this morning to peaceful quietness, no frogs croaking at Walt’s house, LOL!!!

Since I was the only one awake I took advantage of it and got myself ready for the day. By the time I finished shaving and had my shower, my mom already had Walt go out in the backyard and pick some oranges off the tree so she could make us fresh squeezed orange juice to go along with our breakfast. When Hazel and I arrived on Wednesday, my mom had a larger jar of fresh squeezed orange juice ready for us to take to the trailer. Walt had also picked a few grapefruits for us to take to the trailer also.

At 8:30, Hazel and I loaded our bags in the car and headed for the airport. An hour and 15 minutes later we were dropping off our rental car and headed to the terminal to check in for our flight. Since the check in line was so long inside the airport, I found a red cap and had him check us in and take our bag. We only had one bag to check in, for me it was worth tipping this young man to avoid standing in the long check in line.

For the first time in a while, Hazel and I both passed through the security check point without either one of us being pulled aside. Since we still had two hours before our flight was scheduled to depart, we went and had a snack to hold us over until we arrive home later this afternoon.

We started boarding our plane at 12:20 and were in the air at 12:50, only five minutes behind our scheduled departure time of 12:45. As I type this, we are currently cruising at 39,000 feet and just passed over Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Our scheduled arrival time in Philadelphia is 3:20 and we just found out it is sunny and 72* in the Philadelphia area.

Once we arrive home, Hazel and I will go get some supper, then we will wait until it is time to pick Lina up at the high school, her flight from Chicago is due in around 7:30pm at Newark, NJ airport. The buses carrying the choir and band are due back at the high school at 10:15 tonight.

Even dealing with the brush fires, loss of electric and phone service, it has still been a nice 5 days reprieve from work Now, it’s time to start saving up for the next trip!!!

Arrived home a few minutes ago(4:30pm) now it’s back to reality.

Welcome home Andy...glad you had a good 5 days.
