I need help from the travel experts!!!!

I'm doing some wishful airline fare shopping on Orbitz for Dec. 20-27, 2008 from Chicago to Phoenix (with a drive up to DL)The rates have been anywhere from 350-450 per person (cheapest) so it was easy to say , "oh well, we really can't do it this year". I was on Orbitz today and found a nonstop rate on United for $233 each including taxes!!!!!!! Only trouble is, I'm wondering if it's a glitch - United, Expedia and Travelocity do not have this cheap fare listed for this flight. Assuming I can convince Pete to pull the trigger, how do I know I'll get the rate???

JEFF, ANYBODY....HELP!

Make sure the rate is there for ALL the seats you need, not just one person. I've seen this on MW and AT that only 1 seat is at the low price.

Second, you could always "pretend" you're buying it and go to the next couple of screens and see what is says. I've had it happen where it comes back and says the ticket you've selected is no longer available, please reselect. :headache:

Nothing like bait and switch.

Rick is watching Dexter and I've got laundry to do.:laundy:

Now he's watching Heros, whilst I'm online with you all. One of the new characters is Ned Riason from Groundhog Day......BING!:lmao:

But I really want to have a go at this.....

DCL so needs this on the new ships.

Jen, have you tried in and out of Las Vegas (in between both) or in/out of Los Angeles (putting DL on one or both ends of your trip)?

What about open-jaw (two different cities)?

Did you try both Chicago airports, Milwaukee, Rockford and Madison?

You have a few options there.

Good luck.

Jeff,

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm waiting for Rockford before I abandon all hope - Allegiant flies from Rockford to Phoenix, but they do not have their flights scheduled past August 31st. Have you ever flown Allegiant?

I have looked at Madison and Milwaukee also...a bit higher than Chicago. Plus, Madison has no direct flights. I do like flying out of Madison though- it's SO easy to get in and out of the airport.

I'll have to take a look at Las Vegas and LA....

I have not flown Allegiant, but one of my clients just took them from Madison to Orlando (Sanford) a month or so ago. She really liked them.

They use to (not sure if they still do) fly to Vegas from Madison.

I'm sure Madison is real easy to get in and out of. I was wondering, since there are more people from that side of the state than this side, if we should look at Madison if we group book or charter a plane. Problem would be if we go with AirTran, they don't fly to Madison, so they won't have a plane. Midwest does, but not sure how they are financially.

It may end up not being feasible to coordinate that many people and their schedules from all over the state anyway....

Boy, I'm in a pessimistic mood today, aren't I? :scared1:

Heather, remind me...the ship you're sailing on is one of the "sister" ships of the Freedom of the Seas, correct? The biggest one?

We looked at RCCL before choosing DCL, but I'm sure glad we chose DCL last October....I got to meet a super bunch of people! :goodvibes

A joke before bedtime.

A man goes into a bar and orders a drink. As he sups his pint a little voice pipes up "that's a nice tie your wearing today!"

He looks around but can see no one.

He takes another sip of his pint and the little voice says "That's a really nice suit your wearing!"

He looks around and again one one is near him.

The Barman comes over and asks the man if everything is OK. The man tells him about the voice and he replies:

"Oh that's the nuts...they're complimentary" :rotfl2:
