FYI for next year ... MNSSHP tickets go on sale on May 1 of this year. That's pretty much in keeping with years past. I know when I bought ours for 2006 I bought them in May.

I vaguely remember that from last year. If you know you'll go, plan on buying them that day. If you buy and don't go, I bet you'd find someone to buy them from you on Ebay.

Our DVC resale offer for OKW has been accepted, we should have our contract by the end of the day, now the "fun" and more "waiting" begins!!! ;)

Now I have to go back to work so I can pay for the DVC resale!!! :woohoo:

Congrats! You know they are also letting OKW extend the contracts.

Congrats Andy.

Congrats Andy. You have to be happy.

Suz and I have been talking about it over the past year, but haven't ever came to the point of acting on buying one. We go to FL on average twice a year, so it would pay off I think. We would only need about 70 points tops for how much we'd use it.

We hummed and hawed for sometime before be purchased Boardwalk...but so glad we did now. Go on Jeff...you know you want to.

I think it will be on that day because it IS Halloween that day. They always have it on Halloween night.

They don't do Saturdays usually because they are big nights during the week, but who wouldn't run a Halloween party on Halloween.

To confirm this years dates:

September 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 28, 30;October 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 13, 16, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30,and 31. Tickets go on sale May 1.

Karen - my allears newsletter reports that the Cheesecake Factory at Disney Quest is closing down.

Does that just leave Mall @ Mallenia now?

Not much money in TA work from what I understand.

You'll know when 330 days is since Cheryl, Nancy, Janice and I will all be talking about it I'm sure. However, it will also depend on when you plan on flying down. Also, I don't think you can get the fly back date until it is 330 days from then. If MW (Airtran doesn't put theirs up at 330 days) sells the one way at 1/2 the cost, then I may pick up our outbound right away and book the return a week later when it comes available.

Doing a quick calculation, if you wait until the return is available, you'd be looking at December 5th of this year (or maybe it's the 6th, but if you try on the 5th and it's not there, no big loss - as opposed to going on, on the 6th to find out it was the 5th :headache: ).

We plan on going on Friday, October 23rd, so 330 days should be November 27th for the outbound. If all else fails, we'll fly in/out of Tampa (actually like that because it is less of a hassle) or wait until AT's fairs come out.

If you fly out of Chicago again, you'll have less of a fight for tickets.

I'll have to remember all this - I'll probably write it down tonight :)

It may also depend on what the rest of the "family" decides to do...and when they decide to fly back. I am all for making separate travel arrangements for the best deal, but there's been talk of "all flying together" :headache: which will probably mean flying out of Milwaukee. My BIL is building up his United miles on his credit card, but I don't know if they (United) fly MKE to ORD or not.

It's not that I don't love my in-laws, but it seems so difficult to plan/coordinate things with them. I haven't figured out why yet.

I didn't really mind flying out of Chicago Midway - we really had hardly any problems. To me, there's not much difference between flying out of Chicago or Milwaukee - both locations are a bit of a drive. So, we'll see what happens...

Quick question....

If you don't always go on a big vacation every year, and it's not always Disney, is DVC worth it? I don't understand timeshares in general, and we are averaging only 1 big trip every 2 years, so I''m guessing it wouldn't be worth it for us?

It isn't worth it for us either Jen, but only because of our age. Buying into DVC now would leave mostly all the vacations for the kids to inherit. I'll never live long enough to enjoy all those vacations I'd need to make up for the purchase price.:upsidedow

Just thought I'd do a little check in myself. We're crazy busy with wedding stuff but I should be back in full swing after it's over...As long as we still have a thread to post on. Seems a little slow here kids. :confused3

We have a lot of changes going on here at work too. Changes that are making Mother Goose very sad. :sad2: (I'm buying a few lottery tickets tonight). Ah yes, the lottery...aka The Rednecks Retirement Plan. :lmao:

Oh, there will still be a thread...but I can only post so much considering my life is not too interesting at the moment... ;)

 MG - hope the changes still leave you with a job!!!

Yes, we also occasionally invest in the "Redneck Retirement plan" :lmao:
I partially justify the cost by the fact that we get a property tax rebate of about $75-$85 a year from the lottery...so we can spent at least that much in tickets and still break even!

note to self - buy tickets after work...

Hi Jen. Just got home with lilprincess: . She had a half day at school. Now getting the girls lunch, and then off to the orthodontisit for the older one.

Scott

:wave2: Hey there!

Still at work, but taking a quick break before my head explodes...

How's the weather there? We've got sunny and 36 degrees right now....

Afternoon/Evening everyone! Just wanted to drop in as say hi.

Brenda I bought a new book last night- Anthony Bourdain's A Cooks Life.
Picked it up for $1.50! Wasn't sure if you had read it or not.

If you buy the minimum of points, you can then bank/borrow points to make it worth staying for a longer period at WDW. We're using some of our points for our hotel in California at the beginning of the Repo and then several nights in WDW at the end of the cruise.

no dvc for us either. just didnt seem like a good fit for us.
hope to see lots of wedding pics.:thumbsup2
as for the lottery. robin laughs at me but i play $1 a day. i told her" i dont drink, smoke or chase girls(well 2 out of 3), so the $1 lottery is my only vice.
its worth the dollar for my sanity because its my chance to get out of my job.
 :rotfl2:

;) Do you think we really believe that?? :lmao:

Just tell Robin it's part of the entertainment budget...Pete and I will go buy tickets, and then play the "what if" game all day! :rotfl: :rotfl:

For the record - if we were to have a big win, the first round of strawberry smoothies would be on us...but only the first round! :rotfl:
