Well my girls are sick today--:sad2::sick:----------Rachel had 101.7 fever and Hannah 102.2 @ 11:30 last night------------yeah!!!! Called Rachel's school to let them know she would be out and the first thing he said is "Have you had them tested for H1N1????????????????????" :scared1::scared1::scared1: Michigan is out of the flu shots in our area--so we weren't able to get them like we wanted before we left :rolleyes1:eek::rolleyes1
So hoping this will pass w/ just a minor thing in the next few days :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

here's some pixie dust...hope they get better soon!

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Got our buttons done last night--:thumbsup2--almost done w/ dis tag---going to assemble them on ship-:woohoo:--magnets just need laminated--and then to pack :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

Quick question for everyone regarding luggage?

Do you think 4 small suitcases and a garment bag would be better than 2 small ones, one big one and a garment bag?

Going down we don't have to pay to check bags, but coming home we do. The small suitcases could be carryons.

Ah decisions!!

I got a lot of my last minute stuff done yesterday and only have to go into work today. As of 4:25 tonight, I'm on vacation! :cool1:

I'll be sitting at home tomorrow and Wednesday with not a whole lot to do except a hair appointment, charging camera and camcorder batteries, and printing out our boarding passes. :thumbsup2

Cabo is already laying right next to the suitcases. :sad1: Like Paiges dog, he knows when he sees the suitcases he's not going along. :guilty:

So...does anyone have any pre-vacation traditions?

We usually stay up all night long talking about what we're going to do. Since I'm responsible to wake everyone up the next morning (cuz we never seem to make it by staying awake ALL night) I usually try to get a few hours of sleep.

It will be a bit different Wednesday night though since Kristin and Jesse won't be here to share in the excitement. :sad1::sad1:

Anybody else have any??:yay:

Wow - all night long?? I haven't stayed up like that since college (my body doesn't like it!!) Plus - we are driving on Thursday part of the way and then on Friday most of the day... guess we could stay up all night on Friday night at the Radisson!!!!

Good morning Capt.------I still nothing packed :scared1::lmao::lmao:
We just have DD packed. Elaine just told me to get the suitcases out for her at lunchtime.

We sent notes with out kids today to school formally notifying their teachers about vacation and the school secretary just called to inform us it will be an unexcused absence.

Oh well...

FO????
I would go w/ the 2 small ones, one big one & a garment bag---it's one less suitcase you have to lug around-:thumbsup2---just make sure the big one doesn't weigh more than the 50 pounds then its crazy what they charge you:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: We are trying to make that decision also---but we have to pay both ways for ours---right now the plan is to take 1 med., 2 small , and 1 garment, then our carry-ons---but I have another small if we need it----don't know yet cause I haven't started packing :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

That was our initial plan too. We may still go with that, but Elaine is a notorious overpacker and our large suitcases typically are in the 45lbs or so in weight. I get nervous.

Wow really--:confused3--my DD is missing also---but her's is excused-:thumbsup2--I thought as long as a parent is okaying it that it would be excused????????

Well I would pack that one----and weigh it to make sure---if its around 45 then I would take that one---and make sure you don't add to it on the way home :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Well, real life is already getting in the way. I just got a call from the clinic. Apparently my bloodwork is showing elevated liver enzymes. Gotta re-do it tomorrow.:headache:
Here's for better results.:grouphug::grouphug:

Why would this be unexcused?

Different states have different laws/rules. A couple of Samantha's friends and their parents are going to WDW soon. They are taking 2 whole weeks and the principal called them and pretty much yelled at them for taking the kids out of school. They have 10 day passes and are driving to FL from Connecticut.

Ok I'm gettin off here:goodvibes enough playin around :rotfl2: I must go get something productive accomplished----have a great day everyone :banana::banana::banana:
I think I will surprise DH and have all the packing done before he gets home today :dance3: Won't he be surprised :lmao::lmao::lmao:
4 more days til vacation starts :woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

Hey does everyone iron before they pack---I never understood that-:confused3-doesn't everything get all wrinkled again in the suitcase---I think I will just wait til we get there to steam everything----shhhh--I'm bringing a travel steamer:littleangel:

Wow so they can't make up any of their work????????????? Not sure I would take mine out if they were older in that cause--could really effect their grades :confused3

In Connecticut, vacations are considered unexcused absences.

Oh, if we need to start a new thread today, I will be able to do it.

I guess some states are different, in WI parents can have 10 excused absences for their kids for personal & vacations.

I guess I need to check w/ our school system and the rules here---not sure what they are--but Rachel is only in 1st grade-so her teacher said she wouldn't have much homework while she is gone---just to basically have her practice reading

My kids are supposedly being given work to do while on vacation. That is what we wrote the notes for. When we met their teachers prior to school starting, we told them about the cruise and their responses were positive. They just asked for a few days heads up before we leave to let them get stuff together for them.

It's the state and administration that seems to have problems in this case. Honestly though, I can't afford to take them in July or August. The price is double or higher! Well maybe not double, but it is significantly more expensive and why pay that premium if all it means is that i get a "form" letter from the principal in a month or two telling me my kids have unexcused absences.
