OK, so, first, it was not that easy to find this thread..the "find your meet" thread still references #1 (612 pages long!). I was lamenting how I would never get through all that when I finally found thread #23 (the 22nd thread)!! Maybe someone could update the "finder" thread, or maybe the last post on each thread (before closing) could point to the new thread? (If they do, just ignore this - haven't been there yet)
Now, I don't know whether to be intimidated or to join right in, so I'm opting for the latter...
here's our info:
kdzgon = Chuck & Laurie, with 2 DGS, 6 1/2 and 4 1/2 when we sail (kids made me add the "1/2"s!), Florida
We have been on a number of cruises, but this will be our first "official" Disney cruise (I took my kids on the "big Red Boat" many years ago) and we are pretty excited!
By any chance, does anyone have a "Reader's Digest" version of all these threads![]()
I have not yet attempted all the other threads, but the links to the excursions in the original thread are no longer valid.
I actually thought to look for a "meet" thread because I was trying to find out what a "fish extender" is - kind of a convoluted trip but, hey...
Anyway, happy to be here, and I hope to meet you all in person this October!
Laurie
I have a question on your game - is it cheating to just keep posting until you get #1 (and hopefully #2)?
My other question is if I get listed on this thread, am I considered part of B.O.B., one or both? I really like a few of the signature boxes, even though I don't post here all that often.
Thanks!
late Sunday night check in....
Rob's snoring next to me and everyone else is asleep. What a crazy weekend. Last night, I got so nervous while Em was out. The weather got really bad--thunder and lightning. I'm so glad she is in her bed safe and sound. She had lifeguard training all day today so she was wiped out.
We are all a little somber tonight. One of Emily's best friends is moving tomorrow. This is such a tough time for teens in military families. They will stay in touch because of modern technology, but there's nothing like having your best mate to laugh with, you know? Our country (and our allies) are so wonderful about supporting our troops, and I know it seems I am always asking for prayers for our military....but please don't forget those who make the sacrifice without a choice--the kids. They never chose this life and sometimes they are the ones in the most pain. Emily's friend who is moving is going to have to start over in a school 5X the size of our high school. She is a great kid, so she'll be ok, but she'll have hurdles for sure.
Ok, so I am a little sappy-blame it on the wine. I've had a couple of glasses.

I am all caught up and exhausted. We had a rainy chilly day today. Walt is sleeping. The scenery is beautiful. be Walt's friend on facebook and follow our travels. It has been fun so far. We are in Cherokee, North Carolina. Went through Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Tennesee and now in North Carolina. So far great time. Walt and I are having a ball. Good night. Diane

Hey girl make sure Mr Garmin remembers the Detours. Remember when we left the World in Oct on route to the port. Oh Ya Roger was driving..
Dan
If you can get to the airport down there, it is a straight shot out to the port from there. Is there an Interstate Highway you can catch to MCO?

Joanne--are you doing Tortola on your cruise?

Are you doing an excursion there? I have some friends who are taking this cruise in June. It's their first DCL cruise, so I passed along any info I could think of, but I knew nothing of Tortola.....
Yes, I am sending my mom & sis off on the island tour and I am going snorkling. It's not a DCL tour. I hooked up with some disers that are taking a smaller boat tour. I will let you know. Are the interested in water or land excursions?
Ahh, DD & family just went through this. The family that left was a whole family of BBFs - mother, father and child with DD & family, plus they had another daughter (3 YO) that believes she is Japanese as she moved to Okinawa when only months old and was in a Japanese day care in town, not an American one on base. It will be interesting to see how she adjusts to no one speaking Japanese - it is really her first language right now. The move has been pretty tough on them all, especially as the family moved on very short notice - less than 2 months! I think that while it might seem logical that you adjust as time goes on ironically it gets more difficult the longer you are in. DSIL has ~12 yrs in so far, and DD did 4 yrs of her own with the Corps; she says being a spouse is infinitely harder!
Based on your avatar, I'm thinking you might be stationed there on the island right now, or maybe already finished a tour there? We were just out there visiting our DD & family. Timing turned out not to be the greatest in that we were there for almost 3 weeks arriving just after the other family learned they were moving. It kind of cut in to their "goodbye" time, although it was great to spend time with everybody. We have some ties with this family as well but of course nothing like DD.
Welcome! I am Paige, cruising with my DH, Rob. Our kids are sitting this one out. It's just too painful to be away from school...haha....We live in Quantico, Va, and hope to settle in FL in a little less than 2 years when Rob retires from the Marines.....
Jump right in and post post post!![]()
I think they are up for anything. Their kids are 15 and 13, so they are a pretty active family.
Yes, we've done Oki a few years ago. We're now in Quantico. Oki is a hard place to say goodbye because the friends you make there are like family. Is your DD living on the south side or closer north?
