ps - to those on facebook - please dont be offended if I dont send flowers back etc or answer things you send - I dont really know how to!:rolleyes1

It takes me long enough to keep up with this thread let alone facebook:rotfl:

I go on some days and I have hundreds of messages to read:confused3... how do I delete a "friend"? I have someone on there from the reunion that types page after page after page of depressing stuff... I just want her gone!:rolleyes1

There is a delete friend button on the left hand side when you are on her page :thumbsup2

Sean, who is very into Star Trek said he didn't think it was acurate.
He said that Vulcan was never destroyed that he knew of in the series.(But of course he's mainly watched Next Generation and Voyager)
I told him I thought it was.
Does anyone here know?

This movie reinvents the ENTIRE Star Trek universe which opens them up to have all new movies.

That's the beauty of time travel ;)

see robin..you killed the thread with those videos.:rotfl2:

maybe i'll go over to facebook and start an account. theres this girl named chrystal from canada i'm dying to ask to be my friend.:rolleyes1:lmao::rotfl2:

Don't say I didn't warn you :rolleyes1

just a quick hi and bye from me...I hope everyone is doing well. We had a softball game tonight, and prom tomorrow, after lifeguard training. If you're so inclined, say a little prayer for my girl. She's going to the prom for the first time and I'm going to be a nervous wreck. It'll be one of the first times she is in a car with a teen driver. We've had many talks about drinking and driving, and she has assured us that if the boy who is driving (not her date) has a drink, she will call us to pick her up. Her boyfriend, Ryan, told her also that there's no way he would let her get in a car with someone who's been drinking. I still worry. Emily is a good kid and so is Ryan, but good kids get into trouble and get in accidents everyday.

Some pixiedust for you as well as for Emily to make good decisions pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

She has such great parents that have taught her well, so I'm sure she will be just fine :goodvibes

Well the Bay to Breakers is coming up. For those who don't know what I am talking about, this is a 12k in San Francisco.
Saw this pic and thought of Cass's Rob for some reason. Can you imagine running in this stuff.
(cant get the link to show the pic)

Hope they didn't walk too long  Rob and I did the Lupus walk one year and he walked for about 15 minutes and he was hurting for the next week! :scared: Those costumes were not meant for walking in :sad2:

Sarah was on the news tonight!!!!!
Her special ed class runs a coffee shop and her school was the school of the week for the local station. She got some serious face time, almost started crying.

How cool!!! Our newest celebrity :goodvibes

Awesome videos Robin :thumbsup2:lmao: Loved the second one...even with instructions he moves the wrong foot :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: You looked gorgeous for your graduation :goodvibes

Well, after dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with Kristin, we came back to the house to watch the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Very interesting movie. I still have a few questions though. Maybe I have to see it again.

Oh no!! You didn't like the movie Nancy?????? :sad1::sad1::sad1: I'm sorry...I'm the one who told you to watch it!! :scared1: Feel free to ask me any questions, I've seen it 3 times :rolleyes1

Either DIS needs to add tags or perhaps you guys can direct me to your Facebook accounts and tag some photos there so this newbie can learn a few names beforehand..btw, looks like everyone was having great fun there!

The link I sent you should help :thumbsup2

Hi, Nancy! (sorry - had to look up your name - I don't have them down just yet :rotfl:)

Would you mind explaining your avatar? We lost our daughter (technically my step daughter) last year to melanoma after a quick, horrible battle. Ironically, she found a lump while on her first Disney Grand Gathering with us. It was a wonderful trip, and a "healing" time for all of us. Just over eight months later, she was gone.

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter

Can anyone please throw some sunshine our way?:flower3:

I'll trade you weather ;) We are going to be 20º C today :sad2:

Rick got really burnt last year at Castaway. He di a lot of snorkling and forgot/didn't think about putting lots of sunscreen on the backs of his legs. He was in agony for days later. Pharmacist at Target recommended some cream which really helped. He won't forget again, but a painful way to learn.

Ouch!!! That sounds painful!!

I am very mindful now...if there is shade, I'm in it but my parents apparently never heard of sunscreen because every trip to Florida, my brother and I got sun poisoning. :guilty: We went 5 times as a kid and the only sun stuff I ever saw was Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil with Paba!! :scared: I've also had huge blisters many times from being burn so bad. It's how I got all these dang freckles

Kira doesn't leave the house without a sun hat and 30 SPF! Unfortunately she has my pasty white skin :guilty:

MG, if you're still here....

Do you happen to know if sunscreen goes "bad" or is less effective over time? I'm just wondering if my sunscreen from last summer is ok or if I need to buy new bottles?

Doesn't your sunscreen have best before dates?? Ours do and they only last about a year.

Laurie, Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter.

Stage II melanoma has visited me more than once. I'm one of the lucky one's though and beat the no more than 60% survival rate on it.

I am also the resident "nag" on the BOB thread whenever someone starts talking about tanning and sunning themselves. I try not to step up on my soap box too often but it isn't easy when you care so much about all these people here. I hope that my avatar can deter them at least a little.

Finding my way back on this thread is going to take some practice, I think!

Thank you for your response. Prayers to you that you continue to be one of the victors - having lost several people to cancer in recent years including two people in their 20s, my younger sister and now our daughter, I know just how difficult the battle can be - even successes are fraught with emotion, never mind the downright imposition on everyone's lives fighting the fight. We actually have one success story - my one daughter's cervical cancer is now in remission but the changes to one's daily life during the fight can be mind boggling.

Our daughter was a super-faithful sunscreen user and hat wearer, and avoided the sun whenever possible for her entire life (well, her parents' task first, and then hers). Her skin was porcelain white albeit with lots of freckles - the typical "Irish lass" complexion. There was no such thing as a tn line anywhere - in fact, we used to tease her about how much she avoided the sun!

Personally, I'd like to get the word out that melanoma is NOT just a danger for sun-worshippers - there is more behind melanoma. People with risk factors have to be super-vigilant in inspections even if they avoid sun exposure. Becky ignored what was apparently her main warning sign: a large mole on her back that she had had since childhood started to bleed. It did not keep bleeding (to her knowledge) and she just presumed she must have caught it with her fingernail and never had it checked. Her melanoma was not discovered until she found the lump in her groin, a result of the spreading tumors within her body. I'm not saying she would be here today if she had had it checked, but I am saying her chances would have been better. But, she was only 33 when she was diagnosed and she always followed the recommended guidelines re: sun exposure so the thought never crossed her mind that she might die so young.

As to sun exposure, the vitamin D our body produces from the sun only (not as supplements) actually helps prevent a number of cancers (some studies show as many as >40) and other studies show a mild tan (please, please please do not anyone jump on me and say I am promoting turning our skin to leather - I said mild!) may actually help prevent melanoma in many people. I'm no clinician, but while I'm not sure yet how much of this (effects on melanoma) has to do with our risk factors and how much of it has to do with sun exposure, one thing I am sure of is this cancer needs more research than it now gets.

my first FO - I'm SO excited!!
(pretend you see jumping smilies here, ok? :D)

(thought I miscounted, but I didn't! yay!)

:lmao: ...but in the meanwhile, next time would you include those little * so I know how many "new" people are prolific posters? Sadly, I find the statistics interesting, so perhaps I need the same thing

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes - the high number of posts are actually what is somewhat intimidating to me. I try to stay away some from the message boards as I have a tendency to get pulled in quickly, neglecting what I really should be doing on my computer, so I wonder how well we'll really fit in on the cruise. It's not really a huge issue for me - just a little thought at the back of my mind.

Laurie -- just try to avoid reading to catch up. A lot of it is just idle chatter anyway!:lmao: My DH and I have been onboard for BOB since last May. He's on here as EPCOT VA. Initially, I tried to read everything and spent WAY too much time on the boards. But now, I limit myself and read maybe 10 pages back (except for right now trying to catch up on this thread because I have time to be a bum!)

I'm Beth, my DH is Matthew. Our 2 girls will be turning 10 and 12 on the cruise. We have met a few of these great people in person and are very excited for the cruise to come around!!!:yay::banana::yay::banana:

I am off to get some groceries for tonight...Sean & Bernie are coming over for spaghetti and a Disney Night :woohoo::cool1::banana: I love talking Disney

Hey Everybody!!! Looks who's on the cover of the latest issue of the Mickey Monitor:

Mike & Robin!!!

I don't have time to catch up here now but Rachel finally loaded some of her pictures from her trip to England into my Photobucket account so I could post some here. She didn't load many but it's a start...

I think these are from the Harry Potter Castle

good morning, I'm just getting ready to head out the door for another crazy day at work.

The other day we had a patient run out the ambulance bay wearing nothing but an open backed patient gown.... Jump into an ambulance and started to drive away. Luckily about 4 of us saw her go and jumped into the open rear doors and pulled her out after hitting the emergency brake.

Ya just can't make this stuff up!
