2 words - BEDTIME ROUTINE

I'm not sure what they do now, but I think having a routine really helps.
getting into jammies, brushing teeth, bedtime stories, maybe a song, maybe play some calming music, and see.

I can recommend this CD:

I bought this on an impulse when DS was 3 and he's been listening to it ever since. All instrumental, very soothing.

HTH!

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

Please don't be overwhelmed! You've joined a very fun group of people (in my opinion!). I'm Jen, and I will be cruising with DH Pete, and DS Thomas (6), and a bunch of my in-laws. We're a chatty bunch, so just jump right in and post, ask questions, whatever! Post 1 has a lot of good info, and one of our cruisers (Timon aka Cass) has put together a nifty website for us which you can get to by clicking the orange logo in my siggie!

Some of us have cruised together before and some haven't, but we're all ready to get together on October 24th for an awesome cruise!

Welcome to the BOB (and the Dis) Jeff or Angie (don't want to call you by the wrong name)!!!

Don't feel overwhelmed. Just roll with the flow. Yes the thread moves really, really quick, but it is really easy to just jump in wherever. If there is anything really important, it will be put up on Page 1 or on Cass' website.

Your kids will have several others their ages from this group on the cruise. Many are listed with their ages in Post 1.

Oh, btw, I'm Jeff, traveling with my wife Suz and our DS who is 9.

Again, just jump in anywhere and start chatting.

Gahhhhhhh! I've had the a very stressful day off today.

I'm preparing for my yearly LAN Party. (a group of people get together with their computers and game against each other for an entire weekend.) As a result I decided to upgrade my computer to a Quad Core CPU (the manual of my motherboard states that it is supported) and I thought that I would upgrade my videocard as well. The one that I had was good but not "bragging rights" good and I'm planning on upgrading my son's computer with the parts from mine anyway so it's like getting two for one.

So today my new CPU and Videocard come in via UPS early in the morning. Christmas in April Whoo Hoo. Easy upgrade I'll be online within a half hour and checking out my new gaming monster.

I pop in the CPU and the videocard and plug in the machine and..... nothing...... Just a blinking light on the screen! Well, I pop on Stuart's computer and look up the manufacturer of the motherboard to see if my CPU is supported. After an hour of looking, I gave up. They just made it too hard to find out. I have a cardinal rule about system building, once a CPU and Motherboard is up and running paired, they should never be separated. Well, I broke the rule and am now paying the price.

I figured that I would replace the old CPU and fire it up. Nothing. I've hosed my motherboard. GAHHHH! Now, My motherboards are not just placed in and plugged in. I take great pains to bundle the wiring so that everything is clean inside. So replacing the motherboard is going to be a couple of hours of work. I run out get a new mobo (More expense!) and spend the rest of the afternoon installing it. I plug everything in and.... Nothing...... I'm beside myself by now.

At least now the BIOS is posting and the computer is recogizing the CPU, RAM and videocard. So everything is working. I decided to see if I can boot to CD. In goes Windows Vista DVD and a reboot, windows works. But It does not see my previous installation of Vista! Here's why (after much thought and cussing) I upgraded my installation to Vista SP1 and my installation disk is only Vista. After HOURS on a chat room with a microsoft tech support person, I was able to reinstall Vista at the LOSS of all of my settings. Now I have to re-install all of my programs and then direct them to the data on the computer. I'll be at this for the rest of the week.

So my less than 1/2 hour upgrade ended up sucking up my entire day off! Well, at least it works now. Now I need to clean up the wiring and close it back up but I think that it will need to wait until my next day off.

Lesson of the day. Don't upgrade your hardware too much, Vista will balk and lock you out of your own system!
Not sure what you are talking about but know how frustrated DH gets when the computer is not doing what it's supposed to. So a great big  for you and hope everything gets fixed real soon.

Ditto from the west coast!

Welcome to you all! Glad you found us. I am Nancy & will be cruising with DH Dan. We are retirees - it will be just the 2 of us. We have been on 3 DVC members cruises on the Wonder - this will be our first 7 day & first on the Magic. We already know some of the folks on this thread personally, while others we've met on this board & are looking forward to meeting them too. Great group with a variety of interests!!

I love York Beach and Kittery Maine. I use to love the outlet malls there. Diane

We ate at Warren's. They live in NH so it was a good half-way meeting place. We didn't stop at the outlets but did notice several empty stores as we passed by. You'll have to add that to your itinerary on you bike trip.

I was stuck in Jersey/PA traffic coming home. The traffic started in PA, then crossed the stateline in Jersey due to paving. It was a very long drive. It took my 90 minutes longer to get home then it did getting to Lancaster on Sunday!

You're not alone - we got stuck in 3 traffic jams yesterday - construction - I think it's stimulus money projects. One on I295, one in Ogunquit on rt 1, & one in Kittery.

Welcome to the DIS and to the BOB thread :thumbsup2 :welcome:

Don't let the long threads overwhelm you, really! We are a friendly bunch, just hop in when you can and tell us about yourselves or join in the conversation! We often don't talk about the cruise, so feel free to ask questions or start a cruise related conversation :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I am Cass, I will be cruising with my hubby Rob and daughter Kira who will almost be 3 come cruise day.

Like the others said, if you are looking for cruise information, click on a BOB logo in our signatures and there's tons of cruise planning stuff there :thumbsup2

:welcome:party:Glad you are joining us. Great bunch of people. We are Mark, Janice, Bryce (14) & Mackenzie (10). Dont let the chattyness overwhelm you. The kids will be glad to have others their age.

Wow...I understood most of that! :lmao::rotfl2:

We only have one PC with vista - it's DH's laptop. We're hoping for our next upgrade there will be something better by then!

I hope you get everything worked out - it's such pain when you have to reload everything.

Of course, I'm wondering....what game do you play at this LAN party???

I'm a Team Fortress 2 nut. I usually play pyro. But I also play Call of Duty and I'm very very good at Unreal Tournament. (caveat: I've just started playing UTIII so I'm not a good at that)

I'll tell you. I loaded Carbonite last year and it has already pulled my bacon out of the fire. Twice! Best $50 a year that I've ever spent!
