I know AirTran is very big in MKE, so I have a question for you cheeseheads. How is the flying experience with AirTran? I have wanted to try them, but it never worked out. I was always a Delta guy, but their flight times stink for the 3 airports I was looking to fly out of.
I did pay the $6 per person for seat assignments. I figured that I didn't want us to get separated having small children, and we are in the row behind my parents.
We really like them and they are our airline of choice now.
I definitely would pay the $6 for the seat assignments. Even if you're all on the same record locator/confirmation, they will separate you. Best to be guaranteed together.
They have really big overhead bins. You can put a 21" suitcase in there the long way. More room for people.
They also have XM Satellite radio at all the seats.
The one big downfall with AT is that they do move their schedule a lot. So don't get too "married" to the times you have right now. Most likely, they will shift it. I've had little shifts (up to 45 minutes) to huge ones once (a few hours). We're actually hoping they move the non-stop from MKE-MCO back to around 5:30/6:00 so we can try to get off our connecting flight.
I think once you've flown them and see how cheap their fares can get, you'll fly them again.
