Jeff - what is wrestling practice? - does your ds do wrestling as a sport? Sounds pretty dangerous!

My DS is the assistant wrestling coach for his old high school. It is a great sport. I had no idea what it was until his freshman year of high school and he join the team. At first if he was in an awkward position I wanted to smack his appoinent but by his senior year I really got into it.

Yes, he is in wrestling. It is not what you see on TV with all the lights and theatrical performances, it is wrestling similar to what you'd see in the olympics.

My mom never would let me go out for it, but Suz and I are all for letting him do it. He really likes it and it is a displined sport.

It was my DS favorite sport. He played soccer and basball to help stay in shape for wrestling. What weight class?

No sarcasm Chris. I love Nathan's hot dogs!! (Just don't tell me what's in them). :scared1:
I am with you there. The last time we returned home from MCO, we had McDonalds. It was not good, but then again, I had a nasty cold I picked up the last few days on the Magic. I don't think a Filet would have tasted good to me!

Softball starts next week here, and baseball shortly after that. Now, if only Spring were here, too! I'm sick of Winter. Even though we have not had lots of snow, I really don't like cold temps.

Jeff - "the Brit" was Laura - they made a great team didnt they:thumbsup2 - I really wish we could get them again. They were speedy, attentive and fun for the kids too. Heck they could even understand my accent so that was a double bonus:rotfl2:

That's it, thanks Karen.

As good as Leesa and Laura were, you would love Leslie. He is Indian and would bring us different Indian dishes special from the kitchen. I was thinking of you when we had the Curry one night.

I may put a request in for our server this time (either Leslie or Leesa - if either is still on the ship) and not worry about the dining time. We've been on enough that it doesn't matter where we are on what night, I'd rather have an excellent dining team.

Me no likey shrimp but I had great soft shell crabs there. I like the entertainment too! :thumbsup2

You sound like Karen when you say that. It was funny listening to her on the KK when we'd get shrimp:

"Ewww...bodies" :rotfl:

She won't touch those things.

He's only in 3rd grade, so no weight class yet - they don't go that low. :rotfl:

My son is skinny. He weighs about 63 pounds (52" tall). They don't have many kids on the team (private school), so he usually ends up wrestling kids younger than him due to his weight. They start in Kindergarten. Every once and a while the coach will put him with heavier kids which I think is good. It allows him to wrestle kids with more experience.

First matches are in March. Don't think we'll do the one on the 7th, but he'll be at the next 2. He didn't want to do the tournaments last year (his first year). They have the option if they want to wrestle in their school.

His baseball doesn't start until the end of April. Up here, you never know when it's going to warm up. We're expecting 3"-6" of snow tomorrow morning.

Besides wrestling and baseball, DS is in football (but says he doesn't want to do tackle in a couple years - so not sure what fall sport he'll pick. Maybe cross country - he's a good runner) and he likes basketball (although we didn't sign him up this year - didn't like the league anymore. He can do it at school in 4th grade though).

I was thinking of looking into swimming for him. He really likes that too. Not sure if the Y would have anything organized for that.

I don't care what sports he goes into, just as long as he does a couple. I don't want him sitting on his A around the house. Plus, I think being part of a team is good.

Wow that is great to be able to start so young. Ryan was 135 and 140 weight class in high school. He was always skinny and little. He is loving the coaching side of the sport too. He will graduate with an accounting degree this year and I am afraid once he starts working a real job he will not have time to coach. Tax season is the reason I did not stay in public accounting and start in the retirement servcies business.

135 and 140 would be where I would have wrestled if my mom let me go out. I was 5' 10" in HS, so I would have been big in that weight class. But I wasn't an unhealthy skinny, just in shape - oh the good 'ol days. I don't think they have a weight class for me now - may "over", as in over-weight. :rotfl2:

Just don't have him go into Public Accounting or have him go into the Audit side. My busy time is actually end of July, beginning of August. Our year-end is June 30th. It is nice to just pick up and go somewhere in winter.

Well, it looks like I'm caught up. Think I'll go lay down now. I took the day off because I can't sit too much today. My back is better than it was last night, but still bad. Hope I survive the kids tonight. Not looking forward to the snow tomorrow though. Good thing we have a snowblower. Although, I think four 9 years olds could clear the drive way pretty quickly, don't you? :rotfl2:
