Well, no luck for us with free dining. We are booked with points, but even if we weren't, we can't stay in a value resort--there are 5 of us. (Well, I guess I could book a suite, huh?) Thanks for the info, Bendy.:thumbsup2

Well, that all sounds great. Is "Nancy's Crockpot Cookbook" from Nancy G? I missed that. I will need to follow up on the thread more often if this is the case.

Tonight, Rob and I are headed out to dinner. Nothing fancy, Brick Oven Pizza. I won a giftcard at Bunko last month. We are celebrating 18 years of wedded (most of the time-lol) bliss.

Eighteen years ago, at this time, I was getting ready to walk down the aisle .........

Happy Anniversary Guys. Great job and hard work. It is Heather and Noel's 12th anniversary today. That is Walter's daughter. mine too. Di

Absolutely Fabulous!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 You come up with the greatest ideas Nancy G!!! :woohoo:

And let me just say....I wanna be your kid too ;) ::yes::

oh and bah humbug! :lmao: :rotfl2:

So here's a picture of something I've been working on this afternoon. I needed lots of guidance from a very special BOBer but here is the end result:

PB090001.jpg

My kids still get St Nick presents. Tradition in my family is that my brother and I used my dad's WWII boots for St Nick to drop off goodies. The rule is is that you keep getting gifts from St Nick until you have a child of your own and then he/she takes over. Since my brother never had children he passed his boot onto his Godchild, my Kristin.

Since it's getting harder and harder to get them stuff (my kids don't eat candy) I thought I would stick a Disney Gift Card behind each lanyard for the cruise next year. They'll be getting these lanyards, the GC, movie passes, dated ornaments, silly putty (they get one EVERY year), Fruit Roll-ups and some nuts. Stacy and Jesse don't have boots but they have their own stockings here for their gifts.

Anyone else have any fun holiday traditions they'd like to share?

Wow those are great. We celebrate St Nicks Day too. I celebrate it on the wrong date. Dec 7th. While I lived in Germany I learned this tradition and kept it. Since we moved back to the US I do it on my olderst daughter Kristen's birthday. Kristen and Erika never let me give up this tradition and now Elijah and Asiah are the same way. My kids have red boots from Germany. Erika's is really little. She was born in Germany. She was only 2 when we left. Kristen has a good size red boot. Elijah and Asiah do too. Sometimes we put their shoes at the door. When Kristen and Erika were little I had a friend who had 5 boys. We sure had a hard time finding enough switches to put in their boots/sneakers. Asiah and Elijah have got switches too plus candy and little trinkets. I think you have made me excited. I am going to make special boots for Kristen, Erika, Elijah and Asiah this year. I will start working on them now. I will have to send Erika's to her since she lives in Irving Texas. Diane

Love those!!! Okay - now I officially wish our kids were going with us! It is so hard when they are in college. Their schedules do not match anymore nor do they match mine. Of course this cruise doesn't match mine either - I will just be taking off the days. We have some traditions - in the kids' stockings there is always chocolate money (was always in mine) and a real orange (was always in hubby's -even when money was tight) and a candy cane. We also celebrate Three Kings Day or Old Christmas. We all put a box of hay or some other food for the camels under our beds on January 5, and the 3 Kings leave one present which we find the morning of the 6th.

I love your tradition. That is Walter's moms birthday Jan 5th so we celebrate Maw Maw's birthday by usually going to Louisiana. Di

We're crock potting today too! Trying a recipe for German beef stew ... and while that's slowly cooking I'm going to try my hand at making some pear & gorgonzola cheese tartlets - that's a Thanksgiving trial run so wish me luck!

Oooo! That sounds good B, what's in it? (the stew, I mean)

We've made appetizers with crusty bread topped with pear, mustard and wensleydale cheese with cranberries. It was Yummo!

Steve, you will really like Riverside. We haven't stayed at Caribbean Beach yet, and really want to, but of the other 3 moderates, I like Riverside the best. The grounds are great. DS loves the quiet pools, but the main pool is really nice too. They have a fishing area too if you want to do that with the kids.

BTW, when are you going to be down there? Our on, off, on, off, on, off may be back on again. We're looking sometime around the weekend of the 7th/8th, give or take a few days eaither side (currently holding a ressie for 2/4-2/11).

Jeff, Thanks for the recommendation. I've seen a lot of pics and I tend to agree with you. I really like how they make that place look. We'll be in WDW from Feb 7th to Feb 15th So if you decide to go let me know, I'd love to meet you. Saturday the 7th we weren't planning on much because we will have just landed and will need to get aclimated. Sunday the 8th we will be in Epcot for the first part of the day and probably goofing off in the evening. (last time we went we didn't like Epcot as much and so this time I think we will be avoiding the lagoon area and focusing on the Futureworld area. Thus I think we'll be out of the park early) Let me know.

Steve, if you have some time I would definitely recommend the Kennedy Space Center. I got dragged their a couple of years ago by one my friends (he is a space nut) and I had a great time! I especially liked the IMAX movies - there's one where you actually feel like you're walking on the moon. The International Space Station movie is also fun.

If you are into vintage aircraft, there is also a place on the way to the Space Center called Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum. They have some beautifully restored planes from WWI all the way up to Desert Storm and a very nice museum.

Yep, the more I think about KSC the more I am inclined to check it out. The price made me balk a bit. but I just eat that stuff up!

I'll second what Cass said. Your craftiness far outweighs my own.

Round roast
celery salt
garlic powder
ginger
black pepper
tomatoes
carrots
potatoes
sherry
molasses
beef broth
water
and some flour to thicken it up

It's not bad ... if I say so myself. I'm not exactly sure why the recipe is referred to as German Beef Stew but that's what it is.

Add me to the crockpot group today, doing the pulled pork thing. No american beer here, so had to use one of Sean's Buggies (boddingtons) and sweet baby honey bbq. Sean said it tastes good, we'll find out in about an hour.

I used Guinness for the pulled pork last week (only thing resembling beer in the fridge) and it was yummy :cloud9:

I think MouseSavers might have some discounts, maybe $5 a ticket. Every little bit helps!

Discount F.O.?

The budget board on the DIS boards is really packed with information of all kinds - discounts galore! I just found out about a Vera Bradley sale that got 6 Christmas knocked out - yippee! And all for less than what we would have spent on each of these girls normally! Another yippee!

Good evening everyone. It was a very long day. We just got home so a 12 hour day for us. I am hoping we can take a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon to just relax for a bit. We shall see how busy things get in the morning!

All of this talk about Crock Pot food is making my mouth water. I was stuck with a nasty McDonald's Quarter Pounder for supper.
We are doing a family gift this year for Christmas. A Wii and a Wii fit. I want to get Sarah a game though, any suggestions?
We got a Wii as well. It is stashed nicely in our closet until the big day. I can't wait to get it out on Christmas morning. I am thinking I am going to get either Rockband or Guitar Hero World Tour for Christmas myself.

Unfortunately, we just (I mean just as in this afternoon) moved ours from Feb 4 - Feb 11 to Jan 31 - Feb 7. We would fly out of Tampa at 3:34, so we'd be leaving the World around 12:30.

We figured we'd only have to pull DS for 5 days going Sat-Sat instead of the 6 required for Wed-Wed.

I was concerned that we'd miss Sepctro (Suz favorite) but it looks like it is running on Feb 2 (we wouldn't get in until 5:54 on Jan 31, so we wouldn't waste a ticket).

This really looks like a good deal. We were going to need to get 10-day, hoppers that don't expire soon anyways (you can get over the number of days you're there - you can then save some for October :thumbsup2 ), so if you figure the cost of those and a Moderate at the AAA rate at that time ($119.20 + 12.5% tax), it would cost us $2,457. Under the package, we're only paying $1,876. That is a savings of $581.

If we look at it like we were going to buy the tickets anyways, it would be like getting the room for only $358 (or just over $45 per night before tax).

If we did a Value, it would be almost like staying for free, $58 for the week. Before tax, that would be just over $7 per night.

Add in the $200 room credit they are giving, and they would be paying us to stay there. :woohoo:

Oooohhhh, a QP w/ Cheese. Those are awesome. I don't recall the last time I had one though. There are somethings I cut out eating that I haven't fallen back on, McD is one of them (except a $0.99 Dobule Cheeseburger if we're on the road).

Now if I could stop eating all the other stuff I fell back into eating.

We got ours last year and stored it in the closet. Couldn't convince Suz to let me do like we do with all other "cool" toys we pick up and try it before Xmas. Nope, not this time.

My daughter is talking about getting Guitar Hero and Rockband for the kids for Christmas. Asiah said something about Wi Fit. Everything is so expensive. The kids have everything so probably they could get these and be happy. It just doesn't look like much even though prices say differently. Asiah had birthday Wednesday Nov 5th and Elijah's B-day is Dec 10th. So they get gifts then too. Di

Yeah they used to be ok, but lately I am rather unimpressed with McD's quality. The food is lukewarm at best, and tonight it wasn't cooked completely, so I filled up on fries.

Fast food in general has taken a huge nosedive in quality the last few years. I now prefer Subway or Quiznos over a burger joint.

My boys are getting Garmins. They are easy to hide...
