Our Disney Dining insider and WDW announced that they would begin taking Festival special events reservations on August 11th, so all of us F&W freaks have been anxiously awaiting the release of program information and prices this week or maybe next week.
Instead, today we find out that they're pushing the reservation date back to August 25th and are not releasing details or prices until August 22nd.
These are pricey events and now they are non-refundable, so for many of us it takes time and schedule juggling to determine which events you want to book, and then you have to call on the first day they take ressies because seating is limited. Some events sell out within 30 minutes of the phone lines being opened and many events are sold out within the first day.
On top of that, the Festival opens on September 26th (I think) so WDW is basically giving people 30 days advance notice which is ridiculous when you think that they sell
MNSSHP tickets 5 months in advance,
MVMCP tickets 7 months in advance, and CP dining packages 6 months in advance.
It's almost like they want to make it impossible for out-of-state residents to plan their F&W vacations. I got so fed up with having to wait another 30 days that I just went ahead and made reservations for other things and unless something absolutely unbelievable is happening during our trip we just won't do very many special events this year. We'll stick with the free demos and eat ourselves silly at the food booths.
Part of the frustration is that just three years ago this information was typically available in June and WDW started taking reservations in July. It gave people a fair amount of time to plan but wasn't too excessive. Every year for the last three years the dates have been pushed closer and closer to the Festival start date and us food freaks don't like it one bit!
Thanks for letting me vent in a completely incoherent manner about something that matters not a whit in the overall scheme of things!
