Calcasieu (SP)... Iowa...Brother in Lake Charles (Ragley)....;)

Where is your family? :)

Walt :cool1:

That's right, that's right...Iowa. My folks are in Delcambre...on the border of Vermilion and Iberia parishes, about 10 miles inland from Vermilion Bay. Ike won't bother them. Your family might see a little more of Ike.

What makes it tough being Lina's parents, and the fact she is turning 18 on Monday, is, Lina is not a mature 18 year old. That's one reason it was so difficult leaving her home last week, if it had not been for Samantha staying here with her, Lina would of had no choice but to go to Florida with us.

Hazel and I are probably going to be called the meanest parents in the world in a little while when Lina finds out that we are not going to pay for her to attend bartending school. Neither one of us feel that she is mature enough, at this age, to handle being a bartender. I have a feeling Hazel and I are in for another "rocky" weekend.

Good luck, these kids get harder as they get older. What I wouldn't give for a three year old again.

DS # 1 has decided to move out with a HS friend. They both graduated from college in the spring. DS starts his job this week and his friend started last week, I can't talk him into staying home and saving some $$. So he will be spending as fast as he is making. He is taking three classes also. So we just spent 2K on tuition. I just worry they will be partying and not studying.

Oh well I guess we have to let them grow up.

I love this working from home thing. I have done laundry and went to the gym for lunch.

I thought you had to be legal drinking age to serve drinks. Just this week, I was buying a bottle of wine at our exchange, and I had to change registers because the cashier couldn't check me out because she was not legal drinking age. Of course bartending is different, but somehow I thought the same rule applied.

Good luck, Andy and Hazel. Here's hoping she chooses a path that will be best for her and for y'all, too.:thumbsup2

In NJ you can attend bartending school AND be a bartender at age 18, crazy, isn't it. Not old enough the legally drink, but you can be be a bartender.

Well, that was nice of the school director to call - hopefully she will change her mind. if not, has she shown an interest in any other career choices?

None that I am aware of........:confused3

She was talking about maybe going to our junior college starting in January.

   :grouphug:    for the weekend and Monday. What's made her change her mind.

I have a feeling she thinks the course will be too tough for her, but she doesn't want to talk about it.

Hope your dad gets better soon, Heather!

We're in for a soggy weekend ... another six inches or so of rain when all is said and done by Sunday night (more hurricane remnants headed our way).

Walt & Di ... are you guys going to be OK in the path of this current hurricane? I sure hope so.

yes. all the football games are cancelled. It looks like we will get some rains and winds. Diane

Do we really have to???? I don't want mine to grow up....

I didn't either, but we couldn't stop it.

Well, you know what has hit the fan here. I would rather be back on the Magic being tossed around with 30 foot waves right now!!! :rolleyes1

Octoberfest is YUMMMMMMMMMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't look at the time and realize what time of the day it is that I am drinking a beer...........................

Good luck, Ike has already done a lot of damage here.
Keep you gas tanks full and get cash. the ATM's don't work w/o power.

Hi Paige,

Hope your family is not in harm's way...

My Mom's confidence in her past experiences and "the direct line upstairs", so, she is staying put. Just spoke with her and she has the two generators in the pickup to avoid high water and for quick escape to higher ground. I am afraid of her situation since a "canal" is in our yard. :confused3

Walt :cool1:

Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. My parents have had some of their furniture removed from their house as the canal in our hometown is rising. It is still a few blocks from their house, but they are worried.

That's the way it is here in WI.

Been busy the last couple of days, so I'm not caught up, but it looks like quite a few could use come dust.pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
