Oh my, sounds a bit, um, more rustic than Castaway Cay.

How was the cruise otherwise?

Don't ask me why I'm asking all this now, I have an AZ/DL trip, a DCL cruise, a couple of Door County trips and (hopefully) a WDW trip to plan before I get around to another cruise....:rotfl:

It was nice, just a 4 day on one of their older ships Sovereign of the Seas, which has since been sold to another cruise line. I think the last sailing for the Sovereign is in a few weeks. The Sovereign was also quite a bit smaller than the Magic and Wonder.

When we first walked into our cabin, Angelina said, "Hey, where's the rest of our cabin, and where is our other bathroom?" She was impressed with the Sovereign at all. No laundry or ironing facilities, only two movies were showing, never heard of either one of them. The food and service was about the same as DCL. I wouldn't mind going on RCL again, but it would have to be on one of their newer, larger ships. But it would wait until after I tried out one of DCL's new ships.

The shows were OK, but not Disney quality as far as I am concerned.

Ok, on to another topic....an off-topic topic, but here goes....

DS's kindergarten class is trying to do a postcard project this fall. What they would like is to send postcards to people in different parts of the country (or beyond) and receive a postcard from them in return.

If anyone would be willing/interested in participating, would you PM your address to me? You will receive a postcard from DS's kindergarten class here in WI, and they'd love to get a postcard in return. Their goal is to get a postcard from each of the 50 states, and also see if they can get postcards from farther away!

No pressure, just hoping to help DS's class! Thanks for listening. :goodvibes

I did this for someone else last year, I'll send you a PM shortly.......;)

Jen,

On the same day we sail on the BOB, you could sail on RCCL for 8 Nights out of Miami, in a Balcony room the size of DCL's to the following ports:

St. Maarten
St. Thomas
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Labadee, Haiti
3 total days at Sea

The total on this for 3 people is only $3,325. That is cheaper than DCL and you get an extra night.

I think that's a bit more than what we're paying for BOB, but we rebooked onboard and transferred the ressie, and we've got a porthole instead of a balcony.

The ports sound nice though (still not sold on Labadee), I'd love to see San Juan sometime....

Ok, I need to say "adios" for a while....need to go pick up said kindergartener, then I'm taking him for a haircut!

Fortunately that part is easy...we have a place that specializes in kids, and for $12 DS gets a cute haircut, gets to sit in the toy jeep (instead of a salon chair) gets to watch a kid's movie while getting his hair cut, then gets a balloon and a sucker! And mom gets a nice haircut for her kid without screams or fits! What a deal!

Hey, I want to go there to get my next haircut!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: I'll tell him.

BTW....He said that he doesn't need the hat.
No he doesn't....I think Red rubbed off on me a little;)

That would be interesting....think they'd mind if we all had lime green mickey head door signs??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Some of the newer Royal Caribbean ships look very cool....they would definitely tempt me.
OK seriously that would be too funny!!!!

Their wines ok - at least they get that right:rolleyes1

Come to England instead and visit your cruise pals:goodvibes - we've got better buildings and museums than they have too:goodvibes
California's are better!!!

I want a tummy tuck:)
Face, tummy, forget all that I want a whole body lift!:cool1:

RCL looks good to me! Oct 2011 maybe?:confused3 They seem to have good kids clubs too and I've only ever heard good things about them.

Theres no way we can afford a summer DCL cruise either - especially when Ellis becomes an adult at Disney next year - age 9:rolleyes:

QUOTE=Verandah Man We sailed Royal Caribbean last November, we went to their ther island Coco Cay, no where near as nice as Castaway Cay. When we were trying to eat our lunch, there were chickens jumping up on the tables and benches. It was kind of sickening if you ask me. A few of the ladies were screaming their heads off they were so scared. I didn't see anyone from the island do anything about the chickens either. :sad2:

Let's face it no one can touch Castaway, but from what I have seen RCCL have the onboard activities set better than DCL. We cruise Disney because it is a beautiful ship with great people on it (most times) but mostly we cruise for the stops. Oh and Karen if you and anyone else is up to it Sean and I are there!

where ya been rose?:lmao:

cassie got engaged in february when we took her and the boyfriend to wdw.

he proposed in the rose garden at MK.
he asked us in advance "what do you think about me proposing to cassie?"
to which i replied "propose what?' you should have seen the look on his face.
:rotfl2: :lmao:
they are very happy. there photog business is doing well and they just bought a house.
i'm still not ready to give up our baby though.princess:
wedding is planned for may 2009.

Oh, SHEEZ! I do remember that now! Just a middle aged memory lapse.:headache:

Ocean View room is $2,884, but includes $200 fuel surcharge. Plus, no onboard booking discount.

The big difference is that you can get a balcony for a really good rate, plus you're looking at an extra night (remember to divide yours by 7 and multiply by 8 to equal out).

Norwegian has some really good rates, sometimes even better than RCCL.

Yes, it's called Labadee. It's quiet safe, from what I've heard.

Labadee is actually a tiny little island right next to Haiti, considered part of Haiti. It is very pretty and very safe. They do have to tender you off the ship, which is always a bit of a pain (love that you can walk on and off the ship at CC!). We liked it very much.

We loved Labadee. I must admit tendering off was eye-opening, because we were so aware of the poverty of the people. We sailed on the Mariner of the Seas, and it was the first cruise (7 days) our children ever sailed. We had a blast, loved the food and service (though Carnival had better pizza if you liked toppings out of the ordinary), and the ports of call. The shows were good. I don't feel like I can compare them to DCL because our SCL cruise was a members' cruise. I want to sail DCL not on a members' cruise, so I can see how they are different.

Jen,

Here's one for you (and AFEG will yell at me for posting this).
